Aren't they making a Battlefield spin-off? Sounds like its starting already...
I was thinking the same thing.
From the Dead Space mainline series to a Battlefield mod turned retail spinoff. The downward spiral has begun.

Doesn't Mythic handle Ultima Online now?
Oh god, does that mean that the Silent Death Online property rights are freed up?
Can I buy them?

I miss this game so much.[/QUOTE]
Me too.
EA has allowed a third-party developer to handle Ultima Online and DAoC. The developer is Broadsword Online Games: http://www.broadsword.com/
They will be releasing the two games on Steam soon.
EA has shut down Mythic, the longtime video game studio most recently responsible for Warhammer Online and the Dungeon Keeper reboot for mobile platforms.
Hate to say it, but good fucking riddance.
Wow, I did not know this. Was this a fairly recent development?
Once acquired by EA they may not realize it yet, but they are already dead.
Hopefully the dev team finds other work quickly. DAOC is/was a good game.
Force them to make a terrible F2P game that no one wants.
Close the studio when it fails.
Genius.
Mythic were clearly not responsible for the debacle that was Dungeon Keeper iOS
Pretty much. Top people are gone. Many of the staff moved to a new internal dev studio.Aren't Criterion on their last legs too?
I'll never forget my time in DAoC. Had some great times in that game. Sorry to see Mythic go like this.

Lol bullshit. Mass Effect 3 wasn't bad in terms of sales, reviews, gameplay, or multiplayer. The only real blemish is the story and only the ending.
SWTOR has gotten far better than it used to be. Frankly it just needed another yr of development.
So please don't present your opinion as a well known fact when the opposite is popular opinion.

Warhammer Online was the perfect example of a rushed, unfinished product.
The starting zones were pretty good - but the further you got, the worse everything became. Not to mention the horrible input-lag, terrible class balance and there were no way to level up between a certain level range except mindless grinding, due to a lack of content and broken exp rewards.
But they did bring forth the idea of "Public Quests", which seem to be in every MMO now.

If you want to explain the dynamics of Mythic and Dungeon Keeper ios, we could be very quickly dealing with a Godwin's Law type of situation here.Mythic were clearly not responsible for the debacle that was Dungeon Keeper iOS
lol@force
You sure know a lot about their inner workings bro.

Clearly, every young aspiring game designer wants to make a game like Dungeon Keeper ios just once in their life.i keep hearing that the devs are "never forced" but shit like this keeps happening in EA end.
Did Alex Ward give any indication what his new studio would be working on?Pretty much. Top people are gone. Many of the staff moved to a new internal dev studio.
This.People losing their jobs always sucks, but it does make me happy that Dungeon Keeper mobile apparently did badly enough to warrant shutting the studio down.

Maybe if Warhammer online had any PVE content worth a damn people would of stuck around. Game was excellent, but completely unfinished and unpolished. Some parts were a gem, other parts were beyond awful.
Good riddance.
Another day, another reason to never give EA any of my money.
