EA: It's clear now remasters are something people really want

Which EA remaster do you want the most?

No, people want GOOD remasters. Remasters that take advantage of the new hardware that it's made on. Remasters that address long standing flaws that were considered a detriment to the original. Basically the complete and total opposite of what activision does... underfunds ports of games just says, "gibe me money naow"

I don't care about remasters. I already have the PC versions. 1440p/60+fps already. Remakes that improve mechanics and update graphics to more modern standards maybe.

If we must have more remasters at least make sure they are polished and not inferior to the original products like most of remasters are.
I mean it's understandable when you're just hired to copy someone else's work and as fast as possible, that you can't take as much care with everything as the original developers did.

But I just find it so sad that the way most games are preserved for future players trough these remasters, are as a inferior rushed product lacking a lot of care and polish that the games originally had, which often was a big part as to why they are worth remastering in the first place.

I think people just want to continue playing their favorite games on their current platform of choice - not necessarily "prefer remasters"

I'd absolutely be down for remasters of Dragon Age and Mass Effect on PS4. To be blunt, they ran like crap on the PS3 where I played them first.

I can't really think of anything else EA could put out that would interest me.

Fuck Mass Effect and Dead Space, remaster the entire Star Wars back catalogue.

Dead Space
Burnout Paradise
Bad Company Collection

These would all be glorious...especially if they also targeted revision hardware.

I find it disappointing that many won't even consider playing an older game until it gets a modern release. The gaming industry, largely that of publishers and critics, has always tried to sell you on the new, sometimes even directly criticizing their own past releases, often with the moniker of outdated.

When the return of X-COM was announced, many rejoiced, citing the known reverence for the franchise, but how many bothered looking into playing X-COM: UFO Defense before that? Or even after finding that they enjoyed Enemy Unknown? Why is it that people who would say they're enormous fans of The Elder Scrolls largely don't attempt to play the earlier entries for themselves?

This isn't to say that there aren't good reasons or examples for a remaster, but I find it's the exception, rather than the rule.

Why is there such a resistance to playing older games, unless there is a remaster or modern sequel?

In at least in the console space I think it makes sense. People obviously love new shiny coats of paint, but they also don't want to pull out old hardware.

I don't think that's unreasonable. I have the Mass Effect Trilogy unfinished on my PS3 and I've never gotten back to it simply because I've moved on from the system. Hard to go back.

The glory of Kane must be known! in HD!

You don't have to do shit to the Mass Effect games, just rerelease them on modern console with all the DLC and I'm in.

Hell, downres them for all I care.

"Despite the strong desire from the market for remasters of popular games like Mass Effect, the decision isn't an easy one. Soderlund told me that there are a number of factors EA is considering so it doesn't make a mistake."

Totally get it. You don't want to remind fans of or expose new people to ME3's ending in the months leading to ME Andromeda.

I think there has also been some backlash against remasters this gen, EA just has most of the ones that people actually want.
