EA teases new BioWare project [It's Mass Effect 3]

ME2 just came out 10 months ago. I doubt ME3 is in any kind of state to show anything, unless its one of those bullshit why-are-they-wasting-my-time?/who-actually-likes-this-shit? CG trailers.

Probably the Mass Effect multiplayer game developed at BioWare Montreal.

Well, as long as it ain't another modern military shooter, I am all for it.

Hopefully they add ME vehicles/abilities etc too. Planetside + Mass Effect = Win.

Well, Dragon Age: Origins came out a year ago. Dragon Age II comes out in 4 months.

I hope they set it during the first contact Turian war. Or there's the Rachni and subsequent Krogan wars (were humans around for that?)

going by the pic it is pure CG.

Bioware secretly helping Obsidian make Alpha Protocol 2!

Sega put out the first Alpha Protocol and Bioware's relationship with Sega is strong after that Sonic RPG for the DS. Makes perfect sense.

but yeah, it's probably Mass Effect something.

If this is a Mass Effect prequel game it would line up very, very nicely with the upcoming new comic set during the First Contact War.

I'd count the gun being the same under "lazy asset recycling" rather than "a secret hint that this has gotta be in the Mass Effect universe". Not that both aren't possible simultaneously, of course.
So mass effect is going to be the video game version of starship troopers, where all the armor/weapon models show up in half a dozen other video games? Its possible but I find it somewhat unlikely.

Exactly what I thought.

Nope. The first ME game takes place only a few decades after the first contact war. So that would be the first and only military conflict earth is involved in.

Yeah. Hate that shit. Does anyone get excited by it?

Obviously. People were getting excited over the Star Wars Old Republic MMO just based on that cg cinematic from it. And the distance between what the game is versus what they're selling would be much larger than anything Mass Effect related because that is an MMO where you'll probably stand around and whack air for minutes.

It's better for an announcement then clunky pre-alpha footage that will send everyone into a frenzy because it is ugly, runs at a low framerate and doesn't have final textures.

Exactly

Filthy plebes! Im sorry, but a "bad ass" cinematic that in no way represents what the game will actually look and play like does absolutely fuck all for me. It certainly doesn't generate hype.

But it can be a nice way to introduce the new features of the game (see AC trailers).

Medal of Honor: Mass Effect Edition

I actually like the sounds of a ME shooter. If they have weapon unlocks, armour unlocks and upgrades and special powers, it might actually do well since it is standing out from the crowd of samey military blast-fests.

I would also love it is it was Battlefield 2042 scale and style.

It disgusts me that this could be a completely generic Call of Duty: Mass Effect and I'd still buy and love it.

*Deducing from a single picture*

Ah, a gritty and gray looking shooter. I couldn't be less excited.

Fully agree. :lol

Hoping they actually pull out the stops and make something even better.

it doesn't do much for me, either. but they do generate hype.

Okay, Ill get hyped if this is a CG trailer for ME3 which tells us they will undo all the de-RPG-ing they did in ME2 and revert it back to ME1 levels of awesomesauce ;)

First thought: Generic Marine.
Second thought: Mass Effect gun.
Third thought: Ah crap :/

teaser not available in your country. what the hell, spike.

Stop saying things that won't ever happen because they're too good to ever happen :(

I do too, but not with BioWare at the helm of it. They've got Respawn/Former IW, they should use it for that.

Is that a ME2 joke bait? Cause if it is, it's a damn good one :lol

scroll down
"For those of you not in the U.S., here's the region-free version of the video:"

although the video doesn't show much more than the screen

I actually don't get where this shooter and medal of honor comments are coming from. We'll see what it turns out to be today (or in a month? I don't know how this vga shit is going down).

that said, a Mass Effect shooter that was like Star Wars Republic Commando could be awesome.

Going by the trailer -- it looks to be a new IP. Since they emphasise that it's from the makers of Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Has to be Mass Effect 3. Do BioWare have the resources to work on DA2, ME3, SW: TOR AND a new IP?

As far as I know Bioware Montreal weren't doing anything, so this could be one of their projects.

It looks derivative as fuck. Boring art style.

But if we assume it's in the ME Universe, remember the job listing requiring multiplayer experience? It might be a MÉ: Brotherhood game or something.

There are several Bioware groups now from what I understand, plus they added bunch of other folks from other EA departments to work on stuff like TOR and probably their other games as well.
