Early TRICO test footage (year+ old) -- READ FIRST POST

So it's ICO 2 (practically).

Where this time you'll have to help that giant creature get out of there, finding paths and creating ways to let it get through the closed routes.

Graphically it's really early, almost animatic-quality, so it can't really be judged as it's more like a PS2 game in HD, what's already clear is that the animations are mind-blowing, that creature is fucking alive! The mo-caps for the kid are amazing, we'll see if it'll retain that level in-game as well. Also love the lighting and the art-direction Udea is going is, like I said, Ico HD so of course I love it.

No way it will be like that in the end. Please make proper character models like pro studios can.

You really shouldn't expect the style to change all that much

Shadow also has a similar look. That's just the style Ueda likes for his characters.

It's stylized but it looks very expressive. Not everyone is obsessed with graphical effects, normal maps and pixel shaders, we should also appreciate simplicity when it fits the design.

That has nothing to do with "style", it has to do with someone who has poor character modeling skills. I know highschool kids who can model better that this. The kid could have the same style, but modeled properly.

Two videogames ever legitimately choked me up. The castle crumbling in Ico (that damn song) and Agro's nestea plunge in SotC. Ueda knows how to do loss.

This adorable thing is probably going to be perforated by spears of an angry mob while I'm sobbing snot on my dual shock.
 
The kid's model looks exactly like a placeholder. A simple placeholder to get across a general idea of what the main character should be like.

Anyways, concept looks amazing. Animation on bird-rat thing was great.

Have to watch it in HD ;)
All the rocks/bricks are aliasing when they first show outdoor, and pan around to show the Vista. It's shader/texture aliasing, not geometry, but then that's common thing for placeholder assets
That said, geometry seems quite smooth, which gives hope for MSAA(can't be sure with video quality as it is) :)
 
Placeholder assets or not- at least now we know what kind of gameplay this will have- a happy mix of giant animal-riding ala SotC, mixed with the environmental climbing, platforming and puzzle-solving of Ico.

Game will amazing.

Edit: Involuntary combo-breaker. Also: Me!
 
yeah that was kind of cool. im not convinced though, despite how much i loved SotC, that this will be a great game. oh, i also have never played ico.
 
And now, time to jump in :)

I'm getting a PS3.

Have been waiting for this. And I'm really, really satisfied. It looks incredible. :D :D

Probably all animations were handmade there... Wich is even more impressive.

Not me, but then again I trust Team ICO and have no doubt that the final product will be awesome. But let's hope for less rat dogs though. :lol

Not one damn thing. Its fine the way it is, old build or not. This type of reaction should be expected though, not everyone cares about an actual art style anymore.

I played both again recently, back-to-back, and enjoyed ICO much more than SotC. SotC doesn't quite have the same impact with multiple plays, yet ICO seems timeless.

This is my favorite screencap. I wouldn't mind having a smaller one as a pet lol.

Lighting is unreal in that segment. The creature is exceptionally well done, right down to the way the light reflects in its eyes.

Amazing ! :D
 
That was amazing. The thing that blows me away the most is that this team has the creative freedom to create a game like this.

edit:: This is potentially "in game and" people are calling it ugly?

I love this concept so much more than ICO/SoTC, too.
