Thanks Ueda for making us care about a mythological creature we've slaughtered en masse in fantasy games in the past.

PS: Preview of the beast's adult form shown here and here.

I don't know, Ueda seems to like endings that aren't totally hurray happy.

Ico had a happy ending, at least for me. SotC had an absolute tragic ending, on the other hand. So good, yet so tragic...

yeah I know it was just a dream :(

Bitching about Youtube videos and comments being stupid, ill informed, or trollish is like complaining about the sky being blue after enjoying a sunny day.

And posting them here serves what purpose?

According to Ueda,
Ico's ending was a dream.
:( You don't have to interpret it that way though, that's the beauty of it. :D It would be interesting if Trico could have different endings.

I really hope we get to grow up with it in Trico and see it in its adult form. Just imagine flying that thing and being the kind of the sky. That would be Godly.

first of all, spoiler that.

second of all,
how is it just a dream? did I miss something?

edit:
the ending is meant to be vague. so according to my interpretation, it wasn't a dream ;) http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3122598
You can't expect a spoiler embargo on games forever. Of to two, three years tops, It's your own fault if you haven't played the game. Chances are, if you didn't play it by then, you probably weren't that interested in the first place.
And no it's not a dream. It could be a dream. But nowhere is it implied that it is.

But this link contradicts that. I think he means for the ending to be vague.

I think a lot of people might start to seek out Ico and SotC based on this new PS3 game. It doesn't cause any harm erring on the side of caution and using spoiler tags. If there are any two games that deserve to be eternally spoiler-tagged, these are the ones (IMO).

The creature is a griffin by the way, a baby griffin.
(Although the front talons can be debated).
Don't know if this has been mentioned. :lol

I was unaware that people still got offended by Youtube comments. I would've thought people tech-savvy enough to post on GAF would have built up a natural resistance to the general retardation of Youtube comments. It's important that you remember when reading them that they have either been posted by adults looking for a reaction of children too stupid to know any better. ;)

Honestly, I wasn't liking STOC when I first played it, not because it wasn't fun or anything, I'm replaying it now, just got done from playing for a few hours, it's nice knowing where all the lizards, and fruit are! For some reason my first play through had some bugs, and Agro still gets on my nerves a little, his awesome and all, but the controls for him are tiring! But, I got reallly pissed one day, I was looking for Lizards and fruit and stuff, and I found about 20 or so of both, took me about 6 hours. Stupidly, I didn't save at all, well, I got stuck on a fucking rock, and couldn't do anything but die, or retry. 0_0, I was pissed at the game until the ending. No game from this day, has made me do a 360 about the way I feel about it, because of the ending but STOC. The ending made the game for me. I hope in Trico, they spend more time on the controls, and fine tuning, the story I'm not worried about!

ok guys after seeing the TRICO video, and reading the awesome reviews on the last 2 games, I have decided to get ICO or SoTC to experience them personally.

1. Can someone please let me know if they run on 80GB BC PS3?

2. And if you had to choose between the 2 which one do you recommend as I don't get time to play much so I want to play which ever is the better.

Thanks for the input.

Short Answer: Shadow of the Colossus holds up better nowadays, and is in my opinion thew better game. Play it.

Personally I'd play them in order though just to see where it started, but Ico is pretty short anyway so if only 1 then sotc.

1- both run on US BC PS3 "60Gb and the old 80GB" without any problems ( ICO look ugly because of it's native resolution = 240p )

2- both is very amazing and must have , ICO is harder to get tho ( no GH edition )

buy and play ICO first then SOTC the complete experience

I am absolutely loving this footage, and even if this was representative of the final product, I'd still be 100% happy! The animation on that creature is amazingly lifelike and I expect to have a serious attachment to the thing, even more than I did with Yorda in ICO. I anticipate sitting idle in the levels just to take-in the beauty and watch the griffin's ambient behaviour. There are very few games that make you feel like you are experiencing something out of a dream, and this will be one of them.

The element of surprise will be absent on the PS3 front, but you have to admit having a GT5/Uncharted2/Heavy Rain/God of War III is enough not to lag behind any MIcrosoft offering...
Still, I would have hoped they saved the goods and, bam ! reveal everything at once.

We still haven't seen a whole lot of Heavy Rain, MAG, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Ratchet, and Gran Turismo 5 (well, we've seen prologue, but we don't know what to expect from GT5 proper).

I'm pretty confident there will be a few surprises. I'd be more than satisfied with them showing their current lineup (can't wait to see more of GoW3, for instance -- real actual gameplay footage), but I suspect we will FINALLY get to see what the BBC guy was drooling about, and I'm hoping for an official TRICO reveal.

If they reveal BBC game + TRICO at E3 along with their current lineup, I don't see how they don't steal the show easily (especially since they will reveal the next PSP and hopefully the PS3 slim and maybe a pricecut).

Sony has, potentially, a lot of big, big announcements in the pipeline. The question is whether or not they will announce them at E3 or not.

Don't try to control agro, agro basically can go around obstacles and along paths without you trying to steer him, when you try to constantly control him, it is tiring because agro can navigate the environment all by itself.

And would you spoiler the spoiler you quoted please? Seems kind of pointless to tell him to fix it, then he does, but you leave the un-edited version up.

PLAY ICO FIRST!!! It's important to fully appreciate the conclusion of SotC, which was perhaps the most haunting and powerful VG ending I've experienced. Also, ICO is only 5 to 7 hours long, so no excuses or the griffinwy will destroy you!

That's an old article. Ueda has said that it's a dream. The End.

i started playing Ico this evening, i'm upto the part where
Ico tries to escape with Yorda but the Queen appears and chucks Ico off the side of the castle
such a good game ^o^

Its not really possible to overhype this game, but I get the feeling that when were all playing our PS4's and WiiHD's, we will look back at this game as the standout game of the generation.

Wouldn't surprise me. I look back at ICO as the best game ever, and SotC to be the ultimate show piece for the PS2 as a console, and argument for video games as a legitimate art form.

Ueda is God.

So I just bought ICO sealed and like new Shadow for 40/combined. Sold them in my binge to get a 360. Their back for good. Can't wait to replay.

Yeah, I know, but sometimes he will just randomly slow down, even with me pressing the square button(more like stabbing it repeatedly), and he will not go faster unless I move the right analog forward!

Okay I poo poed on this trailer the first time i saw it but after watching it now about ten times now I am truly amazed. The animations are amazing especially on the ratbird thing. When he walks, right before his claw hits the ground it spreads out, the feathers move in a realistic way, the eyes, when he does his bird call thingy spot on, notice how when the boy at the very end steps to close to its eye how it kind of winced a little. I don't know it looks great!!

Also just had to say that it looks like a hyena more than anything.

He will slow down in narrow spaces or if you're guiding him off a cliff. :P

And you just need to hold down the X button for max speed. You don't need to press it constantly.

Good point. Apologies, I was away.

Might be 'The End' with if I could find a source...The only source I've found (1UP) indicates that it's merely a possible interpretation. Nothing in the game itself supports the 'dream' theory. Who really cares though; discussions like these are exactly why Ueda's games are so incredible and like any good work of art, always open for debate.

I read the first post.
I watched the video.

If this is real it's far and away the most impressive stuff I've seen from any console this generation.

Show this shit at E3 Sony.

Yea, you don't have to kick the poor thing over and over and over again...

I'm not seeing the amazing that most of you guys are yet... I think the art especially needs a lot of work and I may start coming around

Then again, I wasn't a believer in SotC till I played it either despite loving ICO

Really? For some reason that little video just managed to portray so much emotion and told a far deeper tale than most full retail titles have ever done.
