Well most places already open the box/case to put anti security measures in place. You're only tearing through the store's seals not the publisher's.IndieJones said:Is there any way to read the EULA for a game without opening it and therefore being unable to return it? Is saying to the store clerk, "I don't agree to the End-User Licence," enough to let you get your money back? How about on a digital distribution service like Steam? I'm actually curious.

Pffhahahahahaha. So not wanting my private information collected by a company that will freely hand it out to others makes me a Steam fanboy? Get the fuck out of here.Nostalgia~4ever said:yep this is just bash origin thread nr 53565 from steam fanboys who gets worse for every day that passes. What's next, Origin causes cancer?
EA is checking my browsing history on my Xbox?JWong said:You know they do ask you this when you play an online EA game on your console.
If it did, and I'm not saying it does, they could just update the EULA to absolve them of all responsibility anyway.Nostalgia~4ever said:yep this is just bash origin thread nr 53565 from steam fanboys who gets worse for every day that passes. What's next, Origin causes cancer?
DTKT said:What do you mean? Are you fine with EA having the legal right to take out anything they want from your HD?
Sethos said:Oh, like every service and software Google has?
Nostalgia~4ever said:have you read an entire EULA? Or even cared what one says?
No, I'd prefer to make an issue of it. Else other companies will start thinking they can get away with this crap. This sort of stuff shouldn't be tolerated by anyone, it's borderline illegal.Hellsing321 said:Just don't download Origin or buy any EA games that require it. Seems simple enough to avoid for me.

Yep. To run BF3 you let EA look at everything on your computer.MisterAnderson said:So, BF3 can't run without Origin being installed/open?

SalsaShark said:No, i havent.
I think its you who have skimmed through thousands of EULA's to reach the conclusion that every one does this, because guess what: they dont.
Go ahead and prove me wrong, i'll wait.
Nostalgia~4ever said:first problem is that you used "might" in thread title and act like it is a fact.
SalsaShark said:uh? this is a matter of region locking and is handled by the publisher with no input from Steam whatsoever. Different games get different release dates around the world, its been like that forever, the only thing Steam does is allow for the game to be released in retail earlier knowing that the actual release date will still be respected.
Steam IS rosebuds and lollipops. I know people like to hate on everything and specially on what's popular, but it is what it is, its a fucking fantastic service. The only complain i get about the service is that the PC has always been an open platform and consumers should have options on what they want and dont want to use. But to say that EA is worse than Steam, stating that steam is "bad", is just plain wrong.
