EB hires idiots

So I want to buy my brother an X360 for Christmas. I asked in another thread about the best deals on a 360 in Canada, and someone suggested EB, since they're doing a trade in a system for 360, get Gears of War free and some money off.

So I call my local EB (Barrie, the one in Georgian mall) and get some guy named Graham.

I ask Graham, "What's the deal on the 360?" And Graham tells me "Trade in a PS2, GC or Xbox system and get 100 bucks off plus Gears of War free when you buy a 360 Premium"

Now, this is an awesome deal and almost too good to be true. I have a spare GC lying around and think this is awesome, the damn thing is only worth like 30 bucks but I'll get 180 bucks worth of trade in for it.

So I ask Graham again specifically: "So I have an extra Gamecube, I trade it it, I'll get 100 bucks off the X360 premium and free Gears of War?"

Graham says that's what I'll get.

So I dig out the old Cube, toss it in my car and drive to the mall in half blizzard conditions - the Mall is in the north part of town and a good 20 minutes one way OUT of my way for the rest of the day.

I get to the mall, fight for parking (WTF, don't people have to work? The mall was packed at 2 pm in the afternoon).

I find the EB store.

Ask the clerk, some skinny little shit, who says the deal isn't what I was told. Trade in an Xbox1 ONLY (no PS2, no GC) for 100 off X360 and a free Gears of War. Turns out Graham is a co-op student (WTF, who the hell co-ops in retail? What a ****ing loser). Manager (actually kinda cute in a skanky way. skinny, tight shirt nice tits, I failed GAF because I didn't have a camera so no pics sorry) tells me she's had to set a lot of customers straight because Graham is confused.

What I don't get is this: How can Graham be confused after the first customer was misinformed? Is the manager too busy playing with her awesome tits to do her job and keep her employees informed? How the **** can you mess up so badly anyway to be giving such grossly incorrect information anyway?

EB hires idiots, I don't usually shop there and I don't know why I would have been tempted even to save 180 bucks to bother going there.

I was going to suggest that you flood the mall again until you mentioned the porno-tittied manager.

It's getting near Christmas, so a lot of the malls in Southern Ontario are really busy during the day.

You should drug and kid-nap the co-op student out to the Drive-in theater near Elmvale, and leave him there overnight.

EB is run by morons. You just have to find the few good clerks and visit the store when they are working.

This usually means, the nerdy looking male clerks almost always are not the ones to approach , or they may troll your console purchases even as you are paying their salary and ensuring their job secuirty by buying games for said console.

I watched a go-getter at circuit city talk a guy out of picking up a 360 for a Wii which they didn't even have in stock. I didn't think crap like that really happened but apperently it does .

Why would I edit my post?

She had stellar tits. The only redeeming part of my 1 hour in total excursion out of my way. I live in the South end of Barrie, so I never go to that Mall...I usually just go south to Newmarket or all the way to Toronto to shop, since I'm always headed in that direction.

As for "you should only shop where the few good clerks are". Well I do - I buy my games from Gamerama in Toronto, at Yonge and Eglinton. Great store, the guys who work there are awesome and know their shit. Support your local independents!

I only went to the EB because there is no profit on hardware, so supporting an independent doesn't mean anything with that, and I was told (by the employee!) of the awesome can't miss deal!

I actually ended up buying the system at Futureshop, they had a buy a Premium, get Gun and the Outfit for free. Two free shitty games is better than nothing.

On another note, people are still lining up over night for PS3s...the Best Buy in Newmarket is getting 11 tonight, and there are 14 people waiting in line outside for it (temps are going to drop to 20 below zero celsius tonight). No tents either!

Used Xboxes are hard to come by and go for around 170 + tax still. I'd save maybe 10 bucks all told - and the Futureshop deal ended up saving me around 80 bucks.

But as far as EB hiring idiots, I think the fact that every person I know that works at EB and is not a manager is living with their parents and just out of high school. There is one EB I have went to with the dumbest stoner ever working there. He routinely has no clue what the specials are even if they are hanging from the ceiling on a sign right in front of him.

I remember another EB hired this guy that had no customer skills at all. He was a gangsta wannabe who talked about anime all the time. He was just there to get a discount and shortly left. I don't know how much the regular employees make, but maybe if they paid more they would have people there who actually know something about customer service and gaming. But actually the manager needs to a better job in weeding out idiots.

Forced? no one is forced, my local EB's are filled with 2-4 fanboys and the rest are middle aged guys who don't play that many games and just need a job.

I go to the same EB all the time (where I got my PS3). I can try to get pics lol. Did the chick have a necklace with a pentagram on it? She's not hot, kinda doable maybe, but definitely kinda goth if she has a pentagram necklace. She's also the only one with a good rack if I remember. There was a really cute girl that worked there this summer and she was in one of my college classes. I don't remember her name though, I just remember seeing her when I bought my games. Can't say I go to video game stores to look at girls :lol

That store's manager is ****ing hilarious though. He looks like your typical comic book nerd. While we were waiting for the store to open up so we could preorder our PS3s, he was pretending to talk to the vice-president of EB, and he was basically going on and on about how awesome he was. I kinda like him though, since he always gives me more on preorders than they're worth. I got $90 for trading in like 5 Xbox games.

About Graham, if it is who I think it is, this could be a hilarious thread.

It's weird hearing local places on GAF sometimes...I camped out at the Walmart in Newmarket for a Wii and drove by Best Buy a few times to laugh at the 100+ people waiting for the PS3.

I live in the East End of Barrie (near St. Vincent St), just a few steps north of Kempenfelt Bay. He probably lives near Molson Park/Ardagh since I recall he's pretty new to area and lives in the South End. It's suburb paradise over there :lol

I always thought you lived in Markham or Toronto for some reason...I'm up in Aurora at the moment, moving to Toronto around February.
