This game rocks and it deserves its own thread IMO. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Here's the official PR:

All you need to know is that it's like Lemmings meets Incredible Machine and it's freaking awesome. The art style is great and the gameplay is very addictive. This is a game to check out for sure, I hope it doesn't get overlooked. I'd post more impressions but I'm too busy playing it :)

I didn't know there was a trial out...gonna sheck it out now...

TBH, I'm starting to dislike the "flash art" look found in many newer 2D titles. Thankfully XBLA hasn't been over-ridden with that sort of stuff, but I'm wary.

There are trials for every game, so if the game is out, so is the trial..

I downloaded this last night but it wouldnt work.

All the achievements seem pretty reasonable except the Marsho Madness ones, unless there is some sort of easy strategy to scoring 1,000,000 points in a single game.

EDIT: Ack I only got 80,000 my first try.

Its a pretty fun game. Its like Worms but with one guy :)

I kind of like that Marsho button pressing game more than the main game though!

Yup the initial download was messed up, they uploaded a fixed version shortly afterwards though.

Agreed. It's ****ing awesome. I got about 150k last night... after 50k, everything just starts flooding in, and the points rack up really quickly, but it's insanely hard. Not too into the main game yet, though I have finished the first world. The idea is similar to Incredible Machine, but something seems a little off. Can't quite put my finger on it.

"All you need to know is that it's like Lemmings meets Incredible Machine and it's freaking awesome."

****ing sold. I was playing through the first few levels thinking "I wonder if this gets as complex and fun as Incredible Machine".

XBLA is rockin' lately.

This game rocks. I'll be skipping on account of playing the PC version to death. Just about the highest possible reccomendation, too. This is the best indie game of last year.

This game really surprised me. I love it. It is a twist on lemmings and I think it is a good twist. The art direction in the game is really cool too.

It definitely does. I'm about 25 missions in (out of 123) and it's already starting to tax the old brains a bit. I suspect by the end it'll be really far out.

Played the demo. I liked it. I bought it.

It's Lemmings + Incredible Machine with nice artstyle. What's there not to like?

yep I'm gona chill with this tomorrow night when my brains on, then when its off Pinball. :D

Love the style of play and the different ways levels can be completed, played both Lemmings and Eeks this week and Eeks really brings the genre forward :)

Sounds awesome, I'm gonna check out a trial probably tomorrow. Been desperately waiting for a quality XBLA game to spend my money on, so I hope I like this, let's hope E4 comes out soon too.

E4 is August. I'll most definitey get that

Yes! I tried this game last night, didn't expect much from it. But it turns out to be a really nice little puzzle game. For some reason it made me think of Lost Vikings, although Lemmings is probably a more suitable description. I played through all the demo levels, I think I have to buy it now.

Marsho is ****ING AMAZING.

Is there online multiplayer?

Meets like Boom Boom Rocket or something. It's definitely going to improve my performance on that game because I'm going to HAVE to memorize which is which and be able to press them without looking (which, yes, I still have to do, shut up).

Wow, this game is the 8th best selling XBLA game this week, and this is the week it came out. Not a good sign at all.

Xbox 360 owners have bad taste. :(

Too bad this was released alongside another game, maybe it would've gotten more awareness and attention if it was the single XBLA game for the week.

I really enjoyed the demo. The puzzle game was satisfying and challenging, well somewhat I guess. I could see how it could get harder, and how there are different ways to do things.

I particularly liked the marsho madness game, Id love to see that with 2 or more players being played at the same time. Too bad they didnt make it online. It definitely takes some skill after a while, I kept messing up, pressing the wrong buttons entirely.

What game came out at the same time as this one?

It's a cool minigame but takes too long for it to get difficult. First few minutes are a bore but when the enemies start pouring, man does it get hectic. Anyone going for the achievements will have one hell of a time getting the 1 mil

By the way are the controls better suited for a PC or 360? I guess I could try both demos to find this out for myself but I don't feel like it.

If they offered an expanded Marsho Madness game for 400pts I'd be all over it. That game is wild, can you play it co-op online? I love the feeling of being overwhelmed and just mashing button combos and seeing half the screen clear :lol

The main Eets game is also great, I've been waiting for a game like this on XBLA for a while. I've only got about 20 levels in and I've had some crazy solutions for the puzzles. Nothing like accidentally blowing up Eets and having him land on the puzzle token while not using all your pieces.

I'd like to declare this week the best week of XBLA yet. Two awesome games, both easily worth 800pts each.

Damn, 2nd time playing Marsho Madness and I broke 500k. It's too bad this game isn't a XBLA game itself cause it's ****ing awesome. It could have been the next "Geometry Wars"

I've never played it on the PC, but the controls are perfect on the 360...

1) X button opens the menu items screen - you place the items on the level with A button (or cancel w/ B).
2) Right trigger starts/stops the puzzle (you can press LB for a hint).
3) Each item is clearly mapped to a button on the 360 pad, so you just press X, B, A, or Y to use them

Example:
screenshot03.png

In this screenshot pressing X would get you sucked up by the whale on the left. B would make the whale on the right suck you up. The goal is to get to the orange puzzle piece up there. So you'd move/flip the other whale to a position that he could spit you up there.

it's really easy once you play it

Well I bought the game based on Marsho Madness alone. I haven't even played the real game outside the demo.. And it's not until 500k that things really start flowing. Great fun, and I second the idea for an expanded Marsho Madness 400 point game! I'd love to see it with heads up and co-op and what have you or even a Twinkle Star Sprites-ish type mode..

Also maybe someone can answer this.. Do you see more play area in Marsho Madness when playing on a HDTV? Just curious as I'm on a SDTV, so anyone tested?

Marsho Madness alone is better than many XBLA titles... fun stuff. The actual game is good, too, but the trial version stops just as it looks like its about to get interesting. Gonna buy this game though.

LETS START A PETITION

Seriously though, all it needs is some skins and online co-op and I'd pay for it. 800pts if it had online co-op, it's that good.

This game is not getting the recognition it deserves.

Eets Chowdown is one of my very favourite XBLA titles. For those unaware the premise is thus:
Eets, a hungry white ..thing.. does the whole Lemmings thing and basically runs off either getting stopped by walls, or just falling/jumping to his doom.
You then open your toolbox, and drop objects that either turn on with a button press (like a springboard or a gun turret) or when another object hits it (like a pig that shoots rockets when hit).
You basically use these to guide Eets to the Puzzle Piece.

It gets really hard, and really good; you'll be spinning around arrows that direct bullets and using the same whale to shoot a marshmallow and Eets himself.
The game doesn't work on a grid like say EXIT on PSP; everything explodes, moves and manipulates with the force and location it is hit, so you can abuse the this and win the level by bypassing a whole chunk... it's even awarded with achievements (i.e; leaving items in the toolbox).

Its a great game, very clever and interesting and will last you aaaages; just do a few puzzles a day.

I even got a new gamerpic!

I've got nothing to compare to but I'm sure I'm seeing less on my HDTV. I just broke 700,000 though; I could've made 800,000 if I hadn't mispressed...

Also BUMP. I am currently 54th in the world, need some help getting a million guys!

Edit for elaboration:
Why I think I see less: When I occasionally mispress and it corresponds to an off-screen marsho it takes ages for vertical lines to come into view.
Why I could've hit 800,000: I'd just scored a goo-gun, I accidently pulled the trigger instead of pressing LB and I got hit by a single digit marsho.

Haha, you're "Queers of War"? I've seen that tag around before and laughed. :lol

PS, I'm #7 in Marsho. :D

If you're up to 800k and just died from a mispress, you probably don't need this help but anyway...

- Look for triplets or quadruples (tanks are the only ones I've seen) and always go for those first. Doubles are useless since they'll always be taken out by "higher numbers", so to speak.
- Drop everything when you hear the flaming skull sound. They need to be taken out fast. Doubly so for the blue skulls.
- Use your items whenever a new item comes on screen. Don't save it for an emergency. Clearing out the screen when you have the area around you already cleared is much better, so you don't leave your last hope with a goo gun and get hit by a double who just snuck up on you when you were concentrating on the explosions around the screen. If you play well, you won't need to save yourself with bombs anyway. This is a balance act, of course, as you sometimes will get flooded and need to save yourself. You'll just have to get a feel for when it's clear to use a bomb or whatever. Remember to mark the next item and fire at it while the explosions or whatever are going off, as the present can sometimes go down with the explosion. Clear out any close-by enemies first, though, of course.
- Keeping a chain going is not as important as some think. It doesn't add that much to your score and building up 6x again becomes very easy later in the game. So don't fret if you miss sometimes, it's not a big deal.
- If you can, set off bombs in strategic positions. You won't have much of a choice later in the game, though.

The #1 tip is the most important one of all, though. Always, always, always go for threes and fours, and only go for other enemies when you absolutely have to.

Yeah, I'm Queers of War.
I still think I should save my paintbrushes for dire situations, I use bombs as soon as a new present comes along, I save my goo-guns until I'm in a really bad situation for the first time then I use them as soon as a new present comes along.
I always aim for 3s and 4s first.
I play carefully until the first time I break my chain (usually around 2000ish) then I just go for it.
BTW, I haven't seen a flaming skull ever; unless you mean the single digit marshos?

You wanna team up? The high-score on 2P is pretty low, I'm sure we could top it...
Add me and make sure to mention GAF in the friend request, I get alot of requests from people I don't know.

Marsho Madness is not XBL online I thought
Oh? LAME :(

Don't wanna triple post so, edit:
I just hit 890K, first time seeing those fast blue ones :O I panicked and mispressed 3 times >__< (Now ranked 32nd)

aku:jiki are you DROGTURIST? If so wow, you've got 200 in so many XBLA games.

Yeah, on paintbrushes your guess is as good as mine. Oddly enough, I've only ever had 2 or 3 brushes ever. I always get bombs and goo guns, so I have no brush strategy at all...

Bowen_B said:

Oh, yeah, those are what I mean. I guess maybe I'm the only one who thinks of Ghost Rider when they pop up. :lol

I totally would, but Wario is right...no online. :(

Wish I could help there, but the only advice I have for those is the one everyone hates; just keep practicing. You need to learn the sound they make and be ready for 'em. They're the toughest part on your way to 1 mil, so you're very close now.
