ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

Just started the game up for the first time and played for an hour..... I think I´ll just uninstall and come back in a few weeks / a few patches later.
People are still waiting for those Bloodborne patches. Hate to break it to you, but there's a high chance that's just how the game will run unless modded by fans.

Luckily, the option to play the PS4 version on PS5 exists, as that seems to be the only smooth running version of the game.

I noticed the seed in the pouch, thanks, its a miracle Ive gotten so far without knowing some of the basic ass stuff. For some reason I miss Nioh and Nioh 2s combat over this.
The castle is pretty damn difficult right now.
Yea dude, no problem. I'm by no means an expert, I'm pretty awful at these games but have played them enough to be familir with certain things.

I definitely recommend using a beginner's guide or watching a video on beginner tips. It really doesn't spoil much and there's so much to experience in these games. I view it as making all the difference between having a terrible/frustrating experience or having a difficult but rewarding experience. Don't be afraid to look up things that will assist you, you're still gonna get your ass kicked regardless, lol. And people who frown on it, just ignore them.

Margit keep kicking my ass. I gonna try again tonight.
There's an item that will bind Margit to the ground, it's not a long time but helps in the first phase. Gotta use it when he does the attack that causes his sword to pierce the earth, I think it's limited to 2 uses in the battle. Item is called Margit Shackle or something like that.

Item is in the cave where Patches is. Not sure if you found him. It costs 5k runes but can be used multiple times.

Boss is still hard but if you have that item and playing co-op or using the NPC assists, you can take him down. I also recommend wait and bait. Unless your rolling skills are spot on, best to wait for openings. 1-2 hits then RETREAT, lol.

I don’t know why Godrick felt much easier than Margit. I managed to beat him on 2nd try but with Margit I tried 10 times until I finally beat him.

Well, then it would become a /skip for me.
Stuff like this drives me mad ingame.

What’s the point of all these keys and medallions if I can just go around. The grand lift is a joke

Yes..I've said it plenty of times. A developer himself said it once, 10 x peak steam numbers is the approx steam sales. This has proven to be correct with every single major release .

Steamspy said 4.5 million first three days for elden ring, once week is over it'll be at 6 or more...I would dare say 7 million as well. Steamspy numbers are decently accurate but u can only see them as Patreon.

As of now, steamspy says Owners: 7,185,000 Owners. Sounds about right. 8 million should be the final number for PC according to steam CCU peak.

According to some report, PC number is already much higher than my estimation

They picked up on it as well.
Dunno if it's accurate?

found a legit way to farm some runes to gain some levels.
spoilers ahead!
At the third church of Marika is a big enemy that gives 1k runes. If u have high level spirits u can easily kill it over and over again

Been staring at this red square with a downwards pointing arrow below my HP/FB bar for the longest time now in my UI and had to google it because its annoying not knowing what the fuck these icons mean and there's no explanation in the game. Very poor design by the developers. If you're going to make a game challenging at least be clear on what the UI icons mean so we have a fucking clue whats going on.

I wish i never hugged that sad sack at the roundtable location. Reduced my total HP by 5 fucking percent 😂

Meh. There's a way to get 1900 runes without fighting anything. Can average 500 000 runes per hour lol.

She gives you an item to negate that debuff, even if the game is incredibly obtuse about this.

I only just a few hours ago found out what that red square was underneath my health bar. Sometimes this game is needlessly vague just for the sake of being vague.

The argument that « easy mode will not hurt the game, why do you care?? » is also pretty wack. Not only did the developers repeatedly said no, but I also think it would dilute the genre.

When I talk to a friend and we say we beat the Nameless king, or maybe he tried but couldn’t, we BOTH understand the hardship of it, because everyone is on the same difficulty

When I know someone that beat a boss I couldn’t? This is my reaction

Making an easy mode removes all that, because now beating a boss is basically a checklist to either a platinum or an ending.

It’s the same reason all rowers train indoor on a Concept C2, even Olympic athletes, because it’s a benchmark. It sets the bar for your effort versus result and is consistant throughout the years.

Many games don’t give a shit about that, but do you even recall much of the fights you had in it? Can we even place a single boss from Jedi Fallen order in a top 50 tier list in the souls genre?

Apparently you can use the item she gifts you and wait some time at a site of grace then the debuff goes away. I plan to do exactly that when I play again after work tonight.
That 5% sounds like nothing but when you're in a boss fight you need every bit of health you can get. All I want to see now are icons with upwards pointing arrows. I don't give a fuck what they are as long as they're pointing up 😂

Longsword up to +17, Vigor at 40, Strength at 27. I'm just rampaging through earlier game shit now. All the stuff I noped out of ~10 hours ago is now ripe for the pickings. Then I try to fuck around with some of the bosses up north and get utterly obliterated.

I'd gladly take that 5% debuff to be able to get unlimited hugs and whisper secrets with this nice lady.

The Lands Between is a cruel place, I need some comfy hugs near the fireplace every once in a while.

Not a huge souls fan and only just started in these games but I can see the appeal of them and 100% agree here.

For this reason I think I've fallen in love with how they play. Every encounter, every area requires patience and care and there's no other game out there that gives you this.

When I finally beat the Uchigatana guy in the first area in Dark Souls 3 after like 20 tries, I yelled 'Fuck you!!' at my monitor, I was on such a high. May as well been crack cocaine cause I wanted to smash my desk too 😂😂😂
No other game has made me felt that sense of accomplishment in all my years of gaming.

These games are not hard. Challenging? yes but they're not at all hard. Enjoy the experience of getting you're ass kicked because you learn out of it.

Who knows maybe later in the game you get to smash her too (ala Last of Us 2) and then instead you get a 20% debuff 😂

You do you and keep going back for them hugs. She's dead to me having me handicapped up to level 44 haha

I am seriously curious what you are implying here?

In just one generation "some" people are acting as if physical software sales shouldn't even have threads anymore. Many of "those" same people didn't feel that way just 2-3 years ago.

Maybe because it's only focuses on physical Edition, which favors one system?

Some of yall act like the "other" system doesn't have digital downloading capabilities also though.

They picked up on it as well.
Dunno if it's accurate?

that's what I said, so my estimate may actually be conservative, this game is 10+M right out of the gate

The game is INCREDIBLY huge and everything is hand crafted. Everything is interesting. You turn corner and you see amazing whole vista of places to visit, new castle, mountain, cave, crazy things.
There is so much, the game is actual straining to play :p I only put 30 hours in, have about 75% of the map unlocked (i think, not checked spoilered map!).
I think the key is to NOT do everything. Sure, go around on a horse, touch graces but you dont really have to do anything you dont want.

The progression is a bit weird too. world enemies give so little souls, you hardly level from that or you will die sooner than cash souls in.
The keys and items needed for progression... are often not needed as you can almost always just go around.
This is the first open world without background. Everything is there. Everything you see IS THERE. No cheating, instances, loading zones like in fallout.
You see a village or castle, you enter it. You see far away castle on the top of the mountain? yep. Be sure you will get there.
There are so many forts and castles, it makes my head spin. I no longer know which caves/forts I've completed o not. Shame there is no completion icon.

And the game is very vague where to go next. I find graces pointing to directons like castle mourne... but there is nothing in castle moure? No great ruin there.

All in al - the game is amazing and looks amazing (the vistas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I feel, I will sooner return to the simpler trilogy and bloodborne than this. It will be fun watching all bosses, no hit speed runs lol :p
btw - advice? I am going to 3rd boss. Who to pick ?

godrik and magic lady done. Now volcano or capital ?
btw - I enabled the capital lift... way after exploring the top. whats the point...
So there is volcano, capital and ... where in caelid the last guy ? Catle red mane I've done aside from boss due but it's not a great rune.
And what about the huge pot building guy :p
As for weapon, I am playing wth +13 flameberge heavy. The spinning attack from ashes is incredible. I hold L2 and any npc character dies from bleed.
And what's with feeding the beast ?! I have him like 3-4 deathroots. He still hungry

Do most people min/max their characters? I feel like I wanna do a little bit of it all so I think I’m going to end up with the majority of my stats at about 25 so I can use a bit of everything. I know this is probably doing myself a disservice but I like to be able to change up depending on the situation.

Cleared the southern island (except for the boss in the big castle) and will clear most of limgrave today I think. I still haven’t fought any of the main bosses and I’m level 30 something I think. I spent a lot of time just riding around the map unlocking map fragments. It is INSANE how big this game is and it’s all hand crafted the game is HUGE and so beautiful. I don't think the reviews were hyperbolic this is a true masterpiece. It’s basically the pinnacle of open world gaming. Best souls game, best open world game, best level design in an open world, best rpg. The openness of choice and freedom to play the way you want.

The only tiny negative thing I’ll say is that maybe my expectations were a little high in this thing feeling fresh because it’s all really tried and true stuff it’s not the next invention of gaming or anything. It’s basically the current top tier version of all the things that have been built into open world games this far. I’m not sure if I’m not seeing it but the story doesn’t seem at all that clear, maybe it’s just a lot more simple than I expect, honestly I don’t really care. This is the breath of the wild souls game and I love it absolutely.

From could have gone another path and made the game with an easier mode gone way more narrative heavy game and they could have made absolute gangbusters money. The number of new people to souls games coming in with this thing is unbelievable but I respect their integrity and artistic vision so much. I think it’s great that they haven’t compromised. The game is still super hard even with all the things they’ve put into the game to make it easier and that is awesome. I’m not a souls vet at all, I finished Demons Souls on PS5 and this is my second souls game, a lot of my friends this is their first souls game and they’re loving it. I am sure there will be a surge in sales of older souls games after this with people wanting more.

That is the thing. Other systems are prominently digital, and not physical.
Its either post the full sale of physical and digital, or stop posting physical only sales.
Because physical sales will only favor 1 system, since those people grow up with physical world. The later ps3/x360 people grow up with digital. And pc went all full digital.

You need to go back to castle mourne and look around a bit more. There is definitely something there, look at your map.

It’s funny we both posted similarly at similar times and seem to be in similar places with the map and completion although I haven’t completed any main bosses yet but I’d like to try and do one or two today.

After 7 souls game, still trying to get clicks on the topic of an easy mode and accessibility options..

The entitlement, devs don’t have to give you fuck all. There’s so much other flavours out there that will take your hand and guide you on the path to a platinum trophy. Go play them.

Somehow managed to fit gamergate and wokeness into this, wow. Them baits.

I'm gonna have to listen to this at some point. She definitely whines about stuff that isn't a big deal in games often enough that I noticed, and I listen here and there on subjects I like.

I never got past father g in bloodborne and I'm having a ton of fun. Not even spamming the rune farms that much. Theres so many play styles and ways to interact and defeat bosses that if you bounce off the game quickly and don't at least try some other builds it's not from softs fault.
