Anybody know why my middle mouse down doesn't decrease the throttle while middle mouse up increases the throttle?

I tried resetting it.

I wish they would change how the paint pack DLCs work. I'd rather buy them per-color rather than per-ship. With this latest set, they've finally answered the question "Does it come in black?", but I'd have to buy it several times. I'd rather be able to just buy a single color (rather than a set that includes five paints I'll never use) and have it available for every ship I'll ever own.

I just use my Classic Wire Frame Paint on my Cobra. I love it. Was only available for a few days during premium beta.

Here's an image of it. Not mine though.

@Dr Bo: Sorry I missed your message last night - must have been AFK.

Just 1500 LY from home now, with ~5k systems visited of which I would estimate 4500 were from this trip and the bulk of those are first discoveries. Should be a nice contribution to the exploration CG when I turn them in.

So after my absence, I've gone full-force back into being a commander again. I decided I'd give combat more of a bash and bought a Viper (had around 1m to kit it out). I want to raise my rank with the Empire, so I flew to a nearby system and found it in absolute chaos with high intensity combat zones and managed to rack up quite a bit of cash there.

It's safe to say I'm in love again. I've just gotta check out what Powerplay is all about now!

Been trying to raise my Empire rank. Which is an Empire system with good RES or conflict zone sites that's near Eravate?

Man the servers are completely and utterly borked today.

Disconnect due to "transaction error" every jump or two, now I can't log in at all ("can't retrieve commander data.")

Been trying to play for about 4 hours now and have only been able to make it 300 LY due to the constant disconnects.

don't do RES sites and Conflict Zones to raise rank. Do missions in the bulletin board. Do any mission you think you can handle that will afford you "High" or "Medium" reputation gain for factions aligned to the Empire (do NO MISSIONS for factions NOT aligned to the Empire, ever). It's not about the money; it's about reputation.

I reached max rank in the Empire last night. "King". Missions for varying factions across varying systems constantly. Ascension opportunities popped much more frequently than from when I went from Outsider --> Earl, that's for damn sure. I can't even count how many hundreds of delivery and resource runs I made to get there. But now I am a KING. Kiss the signet, plebs.

So I'm curious, what do high ranks get you? Is there any benefit to it, or is it just a novelty thing?

I've not really ever bothered with reputation missions, I've always been more interested in either exploring or making credits.

Some ships are locked until you obtain a certain rank, likewise some systems require a certain rank before you can get the permit to visit them.

In before nerf:

I just made ~2m CR with a simple A -> B -> A route... per run, not per hour.

1. find a system that sells Imperial Slaves, price doesn't matter.
2. find the nearest system/station where:
_a. Imperial Slaves are prohibit and
_b. a black market is present (Archon Delaine systems all have a black market, afaik)
3. Sell them for a profit of ~7.5-8.5/t.
4. optional: find a good commodity for your return flight.

Welp.

edit: I used a type7 (232t).

Nope, must also rely on the imperial slaves being in high demand at that black market. Just tried it and with the demand low, I made a loss on the transaction.

Edit: Actually, if you were using a black market in Delaine's system (and the feature is functioning), you'd be getting 20% better payout than anywhere else in the galaxy. That'd make a rather large difference if also stacked with high demand. No way in hell am I making a trek all the way out there to test it though.

Edit 2: I lied. I went to his territory and found a system that has both the selling and buying within 120ls of eachother. 2 mil a trip... >_>

Yeah, sorry forgot about the bonus, but tbh... it seems way more than 20%.

I saw a few posts on the official forums about this, it's happening to lots of people. Most of them had to ticket support to get their save data "fixed". Luckily I've not had many problems this weekend, twice I had the game hang loading the system map but I was able to recover both times by loading the galaxy map during the hang. Also, ship integrity repair costs seem to be more expensive than they were before 1.3, don't know if that is a bug or a "feature". Definitely seems to be some issues since the patch.

I've decided I'm staying neutral and not pledging to anyone. The whole powerplay rank progression seems too grindy for me, and the rank decay they have built in means you need to keep up with it. I don't have time for that, it's why I quit WoW long ago. The only faction perk that really interests me is Li Yong-Rui's rank 5 perk of 200% exploration data price, but rank 5 is so unobtainable for explorers that it makes me wonder why it's even there? I'm a casual player who likes to play however the mood strikes me, whether it be deep space exploring (most of the time), or bounty hunting, or trading. Being required to do set missions every week is not how or why I play Elite. Plus, as an explorer / trader I don't want to give anyone reasons to interdict me, and choosing a faction certainly does that in spades. No, it's in the best interest of my playstyle to simply stay out of the power play and reap the benefits of the passive system effects for personal profit and gains.

Yeah, after having thought about it more this morning, I'm not sure where it's getting that value. 20% more than normal profit should be less than 2K, let alone the 7K/t. Even if the entire sale price is 20% higher, it still shouldn't reach anywhere near that level. The black market is essentially paying 50% more than the actual cost of the slaves. Normally you'd be looking at something like 7%. Intended or not, looking at the system ship statistics last night, I'd say there are a lot of people taking advantage of it.

Click the support link on the launcher and create a ticket from there. May need to save the netlog file as a txt file before you can upload it.

Apparently my save was restored after I submitted my ticket so will try it out tonight.

That's what I did. I then click open new ticket. It sends me to page where I choose which game I need support for. I click Elite Dangerous then Report bug - unable to play the game. Then I come to page that says this:

"Things to try

I've found a bug and can't play game at all

Found a bug & can't play at all

If you believe you have found a bug and cannot play the game at all, you will need to contact our customer support team.

The support team have technical troubleshooting specialists on hand to help resolve your issue and get you back into Elite: Dangerous once again.

To open a technical support ticket, please head to our support knowledgebase."

Basically it just sends me to the knowledgebase.

Server update (no client update needed):

- Better error handling for missing server resource to prevent crash
- Improved handling of cases where servers don’t provide full commander data

- Balance pass on commodity bonuses from Powers to prevent excessive stacking (TBC)

- Various Powerplay text and data fixes
- Fix the display value of discounted insurance costs
- Fix unreasonable changes in Federal and Empire military ranks when completing missions

There you have it Zalusithix.

UUUUUGH, the internet on my desktop computer has been out all weekend. Just got it fixed this morning, haven't tried PP yet :( This evening, perhaps.

Has Elite GAF chosen a power yet? I am thinking about sticking with the Feds for a bit--maybe align with Hudson, do some bounty hunting, earn some money.

Then I want to defect and see what that's like. Haven't decided what my "true" faction will be yet.

EDIT: Great guide right here: https://docs.google.com/presentatio...PktN1eAub3Q0/present?slide=id.ga0a0cdb8a_0_45

Indeed. Oh well, made about 20 million in the short time I was using it, which was nearly 3 times what I normally would have made in the same time frame. That rate of profit probably would have cheapened out the ship reward in the end though. I can only imagine how much the people who did that the entire weekend made. Easily hundreds of millions in profits.

I went from 1.8m CR profit to ~700k CR (with 232t).

Nerfed, but still good.

edit: maybe the risk is now too high.
700K is good, but my trade route didn't have any return profit. This wasn't an issue at 2 million per one sided trip, but when we get down to 700k, it's pretty much where I was sitting before in total round trip profit. I didn't have much danger though as the system security was so low, and the selling station was an outpost so I had no scan risk either. There were pirates to worry about, but I get those anywhere. I'll have to see what the exact profit is tonight... I might stick around doing it if its a bit over 700K. If its under 700, I'll probably just migrate back to what I was doing.

700K is good, but my route didn't have any return profit. I was already making that much per round trip before. So it's pretty much the same as what I was doing before. If I jump ~70Ly away (to Zemina Torvals territory), the profit goes up to ~1.1m CR (232t), so 4.9k/t.

edit: I just did this run and timed it. A -> B -> A with one interdiction is 20 minutes in a type 7. That's ~3.5m CR/hour. Not so hot, but not awful (A -> B nets ~100k CR).

Yeah, before you edited, I thought that I might have to investigate that. 70ly is way more than I ever would normally bother with for a single trade path, but at over 1 million per load, with a high return profit it could be worth the hassle. We're talking like 5-6 jumps fully laden to cover that distance, so transit time is way up, along with fuel consumption. As you found out, in the end it doesn't turn out to be the best.

Now I timed a (my old) single jump run.

10 minutes in a type7 for ~850k CR (A -> B -> A).

That's 5.1m CR/hour. WAY better.

bruh, i need one of these routes in my life. how do you find these effective routes? tips? bounty hunting is too risky. CZs are better and I'll be doing them to get top 5% on the 2 new CGs...but after that, I need to get on this trading bandwagon. Nothing is riskier than fighting. I lost a ship last night at 60% hull vs NPCs. I'm not sure if NPCs are targeting Power Plants now or what, but I quickly soured on bounty hunting. Risking a multi-million ship to gain a hundred thousand does not make financial sense. I think it would balance it out somewhat if the group offering you the mission covered some portion of the insurance costs AND paid out more. Otherwise, it's another dead career path.

I'm assuming station security is rather lax if you're managing to smuggle with the T7 without ever getting caught. Either that or you're doing a lot of boosted entries.

Your python can net over 4 million an hour easily without even dabbling in smuggling. Just normal commodity trading with near zero risk.

Combat got a difficulty boost in 1.3, I almost lost my Asp last night while exploring some systems in the COL sector. An Imperial Clipper interdicted me, so I put full pips to engines and boosted away like normal. Only this AI was boosting right with me, and firing constantly, I just couldn't get any distance, and with the mass of the Clipper right up my Asp's ass I couldn't jump either. He dropped my shields and once the hull started plinking away I realized a change of tactics was needed, so I diverted full power to weapons, targeted his power plant, and swung around in a desperate attempt to either kill him or cripple him. Luckily I even had weapons on the Asp yet, sometimes I take them off to drop mass for longer jumps. By the time his ship blew up I was down to 22% hull left, thank the stars my canopy didn't blow out.

I've never been that close to death before while trying to run away. If I hadn't had the weapons installed I would have been toast due to completely being unable to escape. I'm not sure exploring the stars without weapons is wise anymore, the AI pilot bubble you need to travel through is going to be more dangerous than ever now. Suddenly that Diamondback Explorer with that big large hardpoint is starting to look appealing....

Ah, the heat sink approach. I've always had one equipped just in case I need it, but I prefer to target outposts where I don't have to worry about scanning to begin with.

Also, don't the fines roll over into bounties? And don't the bounties now trigger bounty hunters that go after you when you reach a certain threshold? It might be cheaper in the long run to pay the fines. Losing the ship and goods will cost way more than 2 million. Both in raw credit loss and lost time.

Running away from a Clipper with an Asp is going to be a pain in the ass. The Clipper is one of the fastest ships in the game. Since you had weapons, you made the right call. Its Achilles heel is the weak shielding, so better to try and cripple it than run if it's giving chase. That is, of course, unless you have chaff, in which case you can probably run fine as it won't be able to hit you very well.

That's true, but since I'm not a trader, I will trade the type7 in for a python before the fine becomes a bounty. Also: I'm pledged to Archon Delaine, I AM A PIRATE, after all!

Ah well... that changes things. If you're not typically trading, then you don't really need to worry about a bounty hunter coming after you. Unless they throw an exceptionally powerful NPC after you, they'll likely just end up fodder to a combat focused Python.

So i just found out that the station I can buy imperial slaves from considers that an Illicit good, I never got scanned while exiting. In one round trip (about 5 jumps) I can make just under a million.

Winning. Then on the next trip with a full load of 208 tonnes of ImpSlaves I pop out at my destination system to an NPC messaging me "The rumours were right! Glad I found you first" then preceeded to try and interdict me. I beat the interdiction and sold the slaves but I am worried about why I had a hitman after me with no bounties.

Was it beacuse I joined a faction?

Wait, what? You bought something considered an illicit good at that very station? That shouldn't be possible. It's possible that they're considered illicit goods in the system at large, but I've never seen a station selling goods that it itself prohibits, and I've never seen system wide illicit goods considered illicit in the local space around the station that sells them.

As to the interdiction, it's probably just flavor text for a pirate. Had one talk about getting weapons from me when I had nothing of the sort in my cargo. So I did my best to comply and gave him ammunition instead. For some reason his ship exploded before he could take all of it though.

I just completed a missions with a 60,000 credit reward and got squat. Is there any way to check it handed in correctly? Or a lot of credits going in and out? Or a past mission dialogue box to see if I misread it upon completion?
