Please teach me how to appreciate this game. I really wanted to like it but I dont see whats fun about it. How do you guys play the game? when you come in to a new area what do you do first? what kind of goal do you set for yourself etc?

Sometimes I can completely change my mind about games. Im playing Pokemon mystery dungeon right now. I hated it at first but once I learned to appreciate it for what it is i started to love it.

There are lots of things to do. You can set out to fill the Encyclopaedia, you can try to get all the treasure, you can fill out the map.

But all of that is just icing on the cake. The delicious cave of sandbox exploration. If you can't get into the mentality of "look at the pretty fish and cool caves", this might not be the game for you.

I am now using this game as my "happy relax time" every day after I get home from work. And fuck me, it works.

Finally picked up this game. Went Scuba diving last week, and it finally pushed me to buy it.

What a great game! Really helps me relax and enjoy late nights after work. Lately, I wish there were more games that were based entirely on exploration, finding treasure, and looking at beautiful landmarks and such. Sadly, this is the only game that I know of that does it. The closest games I can think of would be Ico and SotC, which I also love, but even they are more focused on combat.

This game is just what I needed. I look forward to more games like it, hopefully some on land as well as under water.

Also, If there are other games like Endless Ocean, please share them!

so will me not buying the first game have ill effects on the sequel not coming to the US? How did it sell? Course localization for this game can't be that big of a project.

Just bought it today!

I was hoping there'd be an Encyclopedia of sorts, so I'm pleased that there is I'm definitely going to go back and read it once it's been filled out to completion--I'm gonna do my best to fill it out because I wanna know MORE!

Seriously, once I pet my first fish and got its info, I went, "Ooooh! "

Also, I LOVE the ability to listen to MP3s from your SD card! I wish there were a playlist, though, or that the feature were more robust I'm a huge video game music nut, so I managed to scrounge up some tranquil tracks...somewhat.

This (FFX) and This (P4) are what I've used so far.

I can't wait to dive into the darkness and use the latter track! Since I'm only in the beginning of the game, it makes the atmosphere feel a little less tranquil and a bit more...dooming.

We had some really cool compilations going when the game was released, so you might want to look around for a bit in this thread.

Yeah, the MP3 feature is really basic, but at least it's there. Without it EO wouldn't be quite as fun. A good track can change the entire nature of a diving session. I hope they improve upon this with EO2.
