Endless Ocean, official quiet long river thread (Amir0x approved)

Yeah, getting this for sure now. Positive impressions+low price=get.

I was actually looking forward to this until NOA decides to delay it. EU gets something good for twice(one was the early release of Elebits).

I thought Elebits came out a lot later in Europe.

I remember this game series from PS2. It had better graphics and draw distance though.

nice recycled use of the Wave Race font. (no, that's not a bad thing)

once again GAF, you talked me into buying a game when i had no desire for it before. :D

I loved what I saw in the first two hours. I don't know if this game is deep and if missions will remain exciting. But so far, so good. I had high hopes for this game and it delivers.

Blatant troll attempt. I'm pretty sure they didn't have to add a lot extra to get Endless Ocean up and running, but I'm not sure how you've determined it being graphically inferior to the PS2 games when you haven't played any of them.

The draw distance in Endless Ocean varies depending on time of day and depth of the water. Here's a top secret: the deeper you dive, the less sunlight there is.

Holy shit WIN.
Tell me theres Ocean sunfish and sailfish/marlin in this game too. Please let it be so!

Marlin? Not only they're in the game, they even retract / extend their back "sail" fin (sorry I'm Italian I don't know the english term :lol ).

How do I know? I had to shoot a pic of a marlin just today for a magazine. When they accept the pic of yours they send you back an email with attached the page of the magazine (with your pic in it of course). :D

A question to those further along - How do I get the fake killer whale and the common dolphin to be my partner?

You have to get acquainted with those, and I don't mean just patting them once or twice. Use the crayons (dolphins love to pass inside a circle, hint hint), the whistler, food, touch / pet / poke them for a while. For the dolphin I had to dive twice (== one dive per day for two days) before he joined us.

I think your going to get banned because you compare ultra small screenshots of old PS2 games to a new Wii game and claim it looks better while in reality you can't make out anything. Or in other words, your here to troll.

In graphical terms, EO destroys Everblue 2, although even EB 2 had some (not all) very nice animals when in up close view. A Ps2 has more than enough juice to render a couple of fishes gorgeously, but if you compare landscapes and water you see that Wii of course allows for more effects, polygons and better textures.

Let's just say that most "focused" views, the ones where you only see a part of the landscape and a few animals, on wii are basically photorealistic. There's even the flow of water and small dust grains floating with correct physics.

A couple of pics I took with the in-game camera can be easily mistaken for real pictures by an untrained eye.

DAY 1

Just got the camera, the pictures you can take with it are almost photo realistic, they must apply a filter of some sort cause the game isn't looking that good, sadly (I expect the PS3 game to achieve that render ingame). Still the game looks good enough, and it's surprisingly deep. Like if you like diving, you are guaranteed to love it.

I want this game so bad. I wasn't too upset about the delay with everything else this year, until you Europeans came in here with your freaking pictures and your impressions. :lol

ok just ordered it for £17.99 and seems like a nice chill out game also ordered a 2gb micro SD card with all the adapters to work with other version.

i'll give you my opinions as well :) should hopefully arrive end of next week

Im definitely going to pick this up sometime in the near future. Too much awesome in this game..too much!

I love shots like these. Makes me sad to think about whats happening to our coral reefs :(

Drat. I knew I should've mentioned that my earlier post in reply to the troll consisted of links to Everblue 2 pics. :-/

Anyway.
I love the Photo function in this game, although it's disappointing the screens aren't saved anywhere accessible like the message board or the SD card. I'd love to spam my friends about the imaginary fishies I found during my imaginary diving sprees. :lol

Oh, and dak1dsk1? No offense, but PLONK.

i think you're giving the kid too much credit - he failed trolling 101, for pete's sake

now I'm about 10 hours into it and it's really amazing.

Just met the first white sharks while examining a ship wreck. It was quite intimidating... first it was one I followed, but soon another 2-3 whites joined and they started to circle around me. They showed no sign of attacking me, but I felt like "better leave this place sooner than later". :D

edit:

2 pictures from the game (only mobile cam, but it'll do):

marking the underwater ruins with a GAF sign, shortly after that a whale shark crossed it ;)

Picked this up on thursday mainly on GAF hype and because I thought I could use a "chill out" game for the Wii. I'm not regreting it from my small playtime on the game.
Not focusing on doing the missions on the moment but I explored a bit of the available sea and discovered some nice things like birds diving into water to eat fish, sea turtles, dolphins, a shark that fled as I tried to reach it. Just wandering around to discover species and diving spots is fun enough for the moment. Can't wait to go real deep to find some of the sea monsters the encyclopedia hints about!

I found this morning an underwater grotto in the south east corner of the map but the girl on the boat wouldn't let me explore it because "It's too deep". Will I need to find new gear to go deeper?

On another note the thread should be renamed with something along the lines of "Official thread of pleasing sharks with your hands" to get people on the board to actually come here and share the fun.

need to do some exploring at these underwater ruins again. First time a whale shark pulled me over there, but I can't remember the coordinates where he started. Anyone can help me? Found a whale shark at D-5, but he's just floating around and not going anywhere, when I hang onto him.

edit: nevermind, I found the entrance. You don't need the whale shark ride anymore when you've been there once.

Mistouze, yes, you are going to receive gear to dive deeper.

Alex, I am stuck at the ruins (to re-enter ruins: go at the boat marker, dive, then go south to be automatically be brought to the ruins). Did you advance in the story beyond that?

no, I'm at that point too. I've found 4 monuments at the ruins which have been analyzed now, but nothing happened after that yet. Maybe there's another part that I haven't discovered yet...

edit: found no. 5 but still nothing new happened

So is this game basically an explorable, interactive Blue Planet documentary?

If so, that's pretty cool.

Yes pretty much, although there's also a "career" of diver for your avatar to manage as well.

Alex: five.. I found the tablets in the Oracle room, in the rooms that act as an entrance to the Oracle room, in the passway east of the Oracle room, perhaps one more in the round room with the dolphins.. I'm at a loss. Well, I will start exploring the rest of the overworld map. :-)

BTW (bragging) did you manage to shoot pics of the Coelacanthus?

I was interested in this, lost interest after feeling the sea depicted was just too simple, then gained interest again now - that nighttime multiplayer dive looked pretty impressive.

At the east/center side of F4 I've found a still working cassette tape but I couldn't use it on the boat.. Did anyone find it either?
