What's with all the yet-undeserved xbox praise articles and threads lately? Have they actually announced some games yet or is this just all conjecture?

Could be all the sites trying to get clicks following each other.

One reason I'm seriously thinking about is that MS has not only been pretty good the last few years with services and listening to fans, but also in those last few years Sony has basically done nothing..... hard stance on crossplay, censorship, no BC, weird E3 2018 and n E3 2019, shitty refund policy etc.... Even something minor like MS's adaptive controller. Sony is supposed to be all about gamers with around 90 million PS4 gamers and I don't think they have put thought into unique controllers to help gamers out over 4 generations. No doubt, some awesome first party games, but nothing really else.

Maybe sites are following the trend and simply giving MS some respect for the efforts even if they totally lost the console war to PS4.

The only way they will beat Sony in Europe/Asia is if the console comes with a voucher for free weekly blowjobs.
Retailers here sell the X1X bundled with 3 games cheaper than the PS4 Pro bundled with 1 game and the Ps4 Pro still outsells the X1X.
I have really no idea how they can realistically change/increase their brand recognition in Europe.

They are already seem to be making the same mistakes as MS did at the start of this gen by focusing way too much on gimmicks such as VR and even forcing it on people (if the rumors are true) by implementing on their next console and therefore making people pay extra for something they don't want.

Why would you believe Sony will force every console owner to have a VR headset? Come on man!

How's that boring?
If they earn it then that is all that matters.

It's not controversial enough. For example...imagine a football game between Pro League players and highschool Freshmen. You only really wanna watch that once...and it's entertaining the first time. After that an underdog story is in order. It's probably a terrible analogy but I think you'll get the point. It's not exciting to see the same company on top all the time when there are 2 (3 if you count google) other very viable competitiors on the field. You want to see a war, not a massacre.

So did Kinect.

Kinect sold millions to people that never had any intention to use it for gaming on their X-Box.

And there is no way Sony "forces" VR on every PS5 customer. At best/worst (depending on your point of view), the hardware from the breakout box (or the next-gen equivalent) will be inside every PS5. The chances of that costing the consumer much of anything is basically nil.

There are some rumors circulating that PS5 will have VR technology somehow implemented inside the system from the start. If they keep it optional and separate then i'm good.

You know that this doesn't make any sense right?

You people are assholes. Who would deny that MS has really stepped it up this gen after a bad start?

Nobody is denying that. Most here are feeling like Pejo Pejo below.

This is how alot of us feel. What's the point to give MS credit before they actually show us any of this next-gen stuff?

I'll never buy another Microsoft console as long as I live. I went through three different Xboxes because of the Thompson drive shit. Then had to repair my 360 twice because of that stupid soft solder issue. Then my house got robbed and we called Microsoft support to shut down my Live account and change the password, which they outright refused to do until we threatened to complain to their manager - they said they did, but when the police recovered my 360 a few weeks later from a pawn shop, it turns out that the account had never been deactivated or had its password changed. To this day, my wife swears that the worst part of getting robbed was Microsoft Support. And now my account had a bunch of FIFA achievements sitting in it that I couldn't delete. Then with the One, they announced that it would be always online, and I'm like, "fuck you, fuck you, fuck you" and never looked back. Microsoft could be the only game console in the world, and I'll never buy another one. I'll give up games before I do that.

I'm sorry but literally can not help but read this with Cartman's pouty voice in my head.

Look i was a day 1 360 owner. My first one died after the first hour of play due to RLOD. Took it back, got another...which died after about 2 years. Got it repaired, no charge. Eventually gave it away and bought the elite. Face it, 360 was both the best and worst system last gen but to let that dictate your purchasing choice now is simply....misguided. Especially when Sony's support team isn't exactly winning any awards either.

That Sony would eat the paltry cost of the components that makeup the breakout box as an investment in the VR market instead of increasing the price of the PS5 by $5-10? Makes perfect sense to me. This isn't going to be a XBO-Kinect-$100 upcharge situation.

This is such a weird post. How is the Share button not a unique thing on their controller? Sony is the only console with a VR headset. It doesn't have the most games, but it probably has the most high-quality VR games of any system. And I believe Sony had crossplay before MS adopted it. PlayStation has done crossplay with PC for many years now. Their stance with crossplay with the Switch and X1 is being looked at. I believe Epic said they may be adding it to Fortnite next year.

What do you mean..."You People"?

No but seriously, the fanboyism is in full mating season in this thread. People hugging up for a good Sony or Microsoft circle jerk. The best place to be is in the middle. You get to watch all this tom foolery and decide which buttons to press to make one side or the other lose their shit.

"Over the past five years, Microsoft has doggedly climbed its way out of a PR and reputation pit with items like the Xbox One X and the Adaptive Controller as well as its public support of cross-console play." (...)

Well there you have it guys, the items to dominate!

I like the Xbox One X, but I find it laughable when asking users to purchase a new $499 console is the pro consumer and PR super duper move to fix the problems with the previous box you sold them... 🧐.

You're kidding right?

Totally serious.

Why is it always Xbox is going to dominate when they haven't come out on top of any generation since they joined the fray? Find me an equivalent puff-piece about how Sony or Nintendo are going to do the same?

Look at it this way, why aren't there similar articles about the platform thats bossed this generation's sales since day #1, and is coming off yet another year of dominating sales? Or how about the winner of the previous generation coming up fast on everyone's heels with their own unique offering?

Sorry, but one of these "kids" is not like the others. Somehow.

My point and the point of the article is that MS is already poised to take the lead next gen with back compat for all gens plus game pass. They're amazing features and services. I think "undeserved" is just as biased as anything the article says. What the hell has Sony done to improve their position?

Sony tried to do crossplay when Microsoft's Donny D was running a clinic in the last gen. Don Matrick was all like..."We don't need your patronage you savages!" I agree with some of what the guy you were replying to said, but you make good point with VR. In no way did Sony have to do that...but they did and though it's not very popular compared to the amount of consoles they got out there, I appreciate the effort as it looks to keep consoles in step with PC and moves the industry forward.

They can even call it the xtream box. Get it? Extreme Box + Stream Box. It's OK Microsoft, 500 thousand dollars is enough for this brilliant idea.

Dude, Xbox is still the baby of the 3. Of course they are going to pump it every gen. They should! It's the underdog. Who doesn't love a good underdog comeback story?

Its positive speculation based on MS turn around this gen. Sony's been bathed in for years for a lot less. Sorry hearing that bothers so many people =P

man, the cringe is real haha.
Anyway, Microsoft is playing the good long-term play with Xbox. If it keeps delivering as the last two or three years (BC, Enhanced BC, Hardware -both S and X-, Gamepass, Adaptive and Elite Controller) and adds quality AAA exclusives to its catalog, it will eventually reach there.

Only thing I will say that Microsoft would have over Sony next gen would be in the online space, other than that I doubt it, unless Sony's console is $100 more with less games.

Microsoft has been in the gaming sphere for decades. But if you want to talk consoles, they have three generations and nearly 20 years under their belt. They aren't a "baby" by any stretch of the imagination.

To put it another way, they've been making home game consoles for as many (or more) years as Atari, SNK, NEC, and SEGA.

VR technology costs $5?
Ok.

PS5 will be in a better condition since beginning. If it becomes PS4 BC would be harder for Microsoft to compete.

The only scenario where Microsoft can lead next gen is releasing 3-5 smash new IPs like SONY did this gen , I am talking to games like :

Detroit , Horizont, Bloodborne.

Phil knows the only way to get fast new IP is buying studios and he has beendoing this all the year.

I do not see any Microsoft console leading since the begining , this plance will be por PS5 but perhapps if Microsoft do the righ moves could be leading 2-3 years later.

Even if next-gen Microsoft hits Sony's weak spot for massive damage. Playstation still dominates everywhere else that's not USA and UK. But I'm all for the next-gen to be all out war = better games. But this article was just really terribly written and seems like it was written by Microsoft PR. Microsoft is all talk-talk now and getting everyone hyped up. What people should focus on is Sony's silence. But if the Sony censorship continues then next gen i'll stick to PC and Nintendo only.

Ok.
He explicitly noted the breakout box components which only provides 3D audio processing, the social screen (un-distorting the VR image) and a means to output the image to the VR headset. Are you suggesting that the breakout box is in excess of $100?

It has nothing to do with bothering me.. After reading enough articles about Astroturfers though, some of it is very suspect.

I'll admit, I'm a little put off by Phil Spencer's constant talk-but-no-follow-through attitude, and it sure seems like it's rubbing off onto media outlets and forums. I honestly hope that Xbox comes out swinging next gen with GAMES instead of promises and talk. I haven't been a fan of a ton of Sony decisions lately and am, at this point, a 90% PC gamer. I am not even sure that I'll buy the next round of consoles.

All I'm saying is that this feels like the videogame equivalent of Tim Tebow, if that makes sense.

Because Sony fanboys are insecure and have a really really unhealthy emotional attachment to Sony. Their identity is intertwined to Sony and they lash out at any perceived competition.

I wrote it in Morgan Freeman's voice though...

The 360 was far from the best system last gen. I'd put the Wii and PS3 ahead of it. I ended up rebuying many games on the PS3, just to move my library away from the 360, and there's maybe three or four games that I missed. And I didn't miss them that much.

As for informing my future console purchases, I'm not sure how you decide what your future purchases will be if you aren't looking at your past purchases and learning lessons from them. I haven't had a working Microsoft console... like... ever. Seriously. It's been a parade of a half dozen consoles, each one of them broken at a hardware level. Everybody has their limit to how much shit they'll take, and Microsoft surpassed my shit limit without breaking a sweat.

The fix is in!

Seriously though, neXtBox can make me breakfast every morning but without strong support from Japanese devs, I couldn't give less of a shit.

If this is how some in the media are looking at this, then I get it. I wish it was more clear than this was the case though.

Dude, cut the shit, you do the same thing for your plastic box of choice. Who you kidding?

Honestly, they have put out some stuff that has really attracted me. Ive been in ps4 since launch and PS3 before hand but there is a very real chance I'll move over to Xbox next time through. I'm not set at all but if Sony doesn't kill it, I'll switch (assuming ms does if course). I don't owe Sony anything.

LMAO! Morgan Freeman is in fact even funnier. The way I decide is that each console gen is a fresh start for me. Simple as that. Companies change, they adjust and adapt. To be a consumer that closes themselves off to either console is severely limiting only your own gaming experience. I believe true gamers can't be fanboys. Fanboys appreciate the art no matter where it comes from and don't get hung up on the lesser details.

Sorry you got robbed though, that sucks.
