ESRB has rated The Medium for PS5

I am looking at the roadmap of truly exclusive games each company's first party studios have delivered, I look at how they supported the previous console generations during other transitions (aka like first class citizens unlike some others…), and I use that context to huddle the statements made.
You are blowing it out of proportion with "selective outrage" trying to get a moral superiority point over Sony.

Based on previous generations and what they stated some big titles coming on the previous generation console were expected and BEFORE the console launched we already had cross platform games announced like Miles Morales, but they could have said the same about Horizon and GT7 unless both received a later shift to port them to PS4 too due to the pandemic and chip shortage situation.
First of all, my issue here is not with Sony; I find their decision very predictable and realistic. Their reasons could be the same reasons as MS (can't leave all the money on the table), or like other people speculated (one of them is MLiD) is these games were in development long ago for PS4 but then they were informed to start adjusting for PS5 specs. anyway, that is a subject that I am not here to argue about as it is all guessing. They played their game and that is what you expect from any company.

My issue with you as YOU trying to blame us for "misunderstanding their message". Their was no misunderstanding.

To remind you, MM and all these bunch of games and the "we believe in generations" was between June and July of last year. Do you remember when we came to know that MM & HFW are coming to PS4? in September. And people were calling Lying Jim since then. Now when did we know the GoW & GT7 are coming to PS4 (games announced last year)? this May.
Then again do people really believe it is the Xbox One users they cannot let go of or many of their first parties not being ready to deliver next gen exclusives for a few years (which is more likely, but 🤷‍♂️).

You can call the pandemic, chip shortages, and BS and by that same reasoning one could criticize MS 20+ studios and lack of exclusives (conveniently forgetting they just completed the Zenimax acquisition a short while ago for example, but then again if people start to drop logic all is fair game).
I don't get what are you trying to argue here. Are you saying that no one is allowed to criticize MS for their actions? Because I am sure they are getting their fare share of shit talking. and Sony is not a small company that is being bullied.
It triggers me so much , I stay awake at night thinking of it ;).

it bothered you enough to reply.

Who is this "us"? People taking a quote and misleadingly trying to create outrage or stir shit by stretching it, quoting it out of context, and:or using it in bait and switch scenarios as some sort of circumstantial evidence? :/…

Most people knew the Medium was coming to other platforms? I don't think they did at all.

I'm talking about this anyway: They said you wouldn't need to upgrade for two years. At least that's what people took from MS comments

I look forward to your same rant of misleading others when a Series only XGS game hits this summer.
I thought that MS didn't support current gen only titles 🤔. Fable and Forza don't have announced release dates or platforms. Fable most likely won't be out until 2023. Forza Motorsport 8 might not be out until late 2022 or even 2023. Both of titles would be outside of the one or two year of support for X1.

It is sad to see people jump through hoops to try and 'MS too' this situation. Sony said they 'believe in generations' MS said they would blend generations and looking at their BC and cross generational support they were honest in that. People still make fun of MS for their support of 'old' games right? This is a Sony problem and no amount of effort will put this issue on MS. They are NOT the same here.

Personally I don't care because I wasn't under the impression that GoW was PS5 only, I thought it was actually DLC.

You claim MS were honest in that and honesty is all that you are clinging to because in comparison they have released almost nothing crossgen or otherwise but we will have to see what happens with that "promise" when FS2020 hits this summer. They removed Xbox one from their product pages for a bunch of announced on xbox one games too. Things changed. Minecraft didn't get raytracing on XSX either even though they used that to promote "raytracing hardware". In the end it's whatever mate you can interpret statements however you like. I was never under the impression that there will not be cross gen games though. 3 were already confirmed before PS5 release even. Didn't stop them from releasing PS5 only games though.

The game was really bad. There were so many bizarre gulfs in quality in all aspects of the game. The environments looked incredible, yet the character models were lifeless dolls (that still looked less evocative than Silent Hill 3's). Atmosphere was generally pretty creep, yet there is no combat and little imminent threat for much of the game. The main character could not shut the fuck up with the mood killing quips despite the horrible shit happening around her (because she is a strong wahmen, I guess). The game went out its way to really portray the Polish setting with love, yet there is no Polish dub and everyone sounds like a yeehaw American. Moving around felt pretty similar to a Silent Hill game (at times I did a double take eg. the whole forest lead up to the Niwa building with Akira Yamaoka music), but there is a lot of pace killing level design to pad out using the medium powers. Honestly the PS5 could do without the game.

I think cross gen is fine. MS was just up front with their cross gen plans and Sony was pushing the we believe in generations talk. It came across as deceptive because it was. I totally understand it from a business perspective and if they did what MS did in saying they were planning on putting their biggest games on PS4 we wouldn't be talking about this now.

I was interested when they showed the first trailers, lost interest once I saw the first gameplay. If it came to Plus I'd probably at least try it though.

I like walking simulators.

I've enjoyed some and have a few in my backlog, as well. I'm more commenting when Uncharted, GoW, etc. are called that. I've never understood putting a game down because it's not on a person's chosen platform, to the extent of misrepresenting what it is. And how that can suddenly change when the game becomes available.

"I believe in love"

"I believe in marriage"

Please tell me what I just said. Or...what does that explicitly say about me.

I always felt Ragnarok was to GoW, what Miles Morales was to Spider-Man, and what Lost Legacy was to UC4. Said that since day 1. Sony also said these smaller type AAA experiences are what they want to do since the success of LL, in between the full fledged sequels. Which is funny 10+ years ago LL and MM would be considered full length story wise, but now games are 15-30 hours instead of 8-10.

As for MS, they seem to bastardize Minecraft when it comes to promoting vaporware PR needs. They did it with Hololens knowing it would never be a consumer product especially at that price range, but needed something to combat PSVR E3 hype at the time and people all over agued like it was a real thing coming to their XB1s and better than VR (el oh el), and now they did it with the RT on it, only for it not to come to the consoles like they led people to believe.

Games play different. Not everything has to be the same ratings.

The medium did the impossible of diving 2 worlds in 2 camera settings at 1 screen. Something that is new to horror game.

Only main issue of the game is you don't shoot them. If you did, that would have been 10/10.

Ratchet is graphic show. We have yet to see how story is. But I hope its good, and sets new motion for games like ratchet (imagine conker/ Banjo/ Mario/sonic) in that format graphic like ratchet.
I'd actually like this question to be answered. I don't make video games, so I don't know how the split screen two different scenes thing works.

I my head, if you're only rendering what's visible, which is what most games do these days. Dev's have gotten so good at getting around limitations and saving resources. So, If you're only rendering what you can see, and it's 1/2 one scene and the other 1/2 another scene... wouldn't that just be rendering 1 scene? Yes, different assets and stuff but isn't it just one scene basically? Am I just over simplifying this in my head :messenger_grinning_sweat: is this one of those situations where it seems simple, but it actually isn't cause I have never created a game before :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Nope it didnt work like that, not on PC anyway, and i dont see why it would be different on console.
Once the screen goes split screen, gpu usage literally doubles.

Its like 2 portals. If you play portal 2, you will see the difference between 2 spaces. Medium is like that, but it runs 2 graphic rooms in 1 screen. Those are different assets like cells in skyrim. Which is the reason why there are too much loading in that game.Too much work for old gen consoles. And can't handle it.

Like how there is too much laser shoots in returnal. All those effect will crash the ps4.

My casual view though.

XSX seems sharper especially comparing the blinds on the window.

Not sure where they got the footage for the PS5 one though. Could just be compression issues on a Youtube trailer.

Pointless comparison. Who knows if it's in real time or a prerendered trailer ... anyway in some spots the IQ is incredibly blurried in the supposed ps5 version, even in the close distance.

Don't go into it for gameplay and you may be pleasantly surprised. Just sit down for a creepy storybook adventure and you might have some fun like I did.

Didn't like it enough to complete it, but some creepy sequences stuck out to me in a great way.
