Damn, the stuff I'm interested in is barely discounted, and the stuff I either don't want or already have is the stuff that gets the deep cuts. The only thing I'm interested in is the Batman Telltale game, and even that is slightly more expensive than I'm willing to pay for Telltale games these days. Poor sale.

The avarage user has no idea about this. Once Steam stopped daily deals and discounts got worse they actually made more money

Is this "they" as in Valve, or "they" as in a few developers? I haven't seen any revenue figures from Valve comparing the differences across their portfolio of third party content during sales vs if they don't have them on at the same time. Furthermore, Sony Interactive Entertainment America has a much bigger sale on at the moment.

Overall spend on the store during the sale without daily deals was higher. This is based on a Steamspy analysis.
I'm sure there are winners and losers of this strategy, but overall it works.
"Much bigger" by what metric? The list in the OP isn't the full sale, by far.

A Black Friday holiday sale with advertising spend behind it and a whole roster of games from nearly every major publisher and a selection of others isn't be the same thing as having a few games on daily deals.
As any Rock Band player will attest, SCEE and SCEA are completely different beasts

No you misunderstand me. In the past the big Steam sales had discounts across the whole catalogue but then also additional much bigger discounts that changed every day. Once they stopped doing those additional dailies, avarage discounts got worse but overall spend got higher.
-> The avarage customer does not care about super deep discounts. Putting things on sale at all and advertising it is enough.

With BF1 you should beware - if you were to buy Premium (the season pass) from another region you will get the maps but you will not get any of the other benefits (free battlepacks) as they are tied to your account. You will also be unable to buy any microtransactions although most people won't mind that.

A lot of the prices are cheaper than the retail counterparts at least in Aus.

Doom is amazing if you don't already have it but for multiplayer I would recommend Overwatch. I almost never play online against others but absolutely love to with this game.

Hm not much I am interested in there, keen on Guilty Gear but I don't know if I want to buy another fighting game that no one online plays in my area. So it just becomes a pick up and play for 10 minutes title. It's at a damn good price though.
Happy I got Odin Sphere a month or so back when it was on sale, was cheaper then than it is now lol.
Might jump on Shadows of Mordor for $9.99 on the US store though.

Doom was really fun (beta/alpha). Never tried Overwatch as it seems quite dauting to get into it right now (though it is at a nice price, just like TF2).

All round meh prices. Odin Sphere is the only thing I'm eyeing up precisely because it is holding its value in retail. Probably a low print.

I have found it quite easy so far and my aim is terrible, so many characters to choose from too, maybe they will do another free weekend near christmas.

Yeah it was, it was R374 at the previous sale it is currently on sale for R399. Not a huge difference but to have the game and play it over a month ago for less than the current sale price is a bonus.
