Eureka Seven anime TV series SEQUEL announced!!!

I gave up on the original E7 series around the 43rd episode or something like that.. when they were playing soccer or something. Is the end any good?
You've quit right after the last filler episode. After this one the series gets really amazing.

The hate for the pace is quite understandable. The 3X episodes are really horribly slow and contain too many filler episodes (including the worst filler episode ever, that football episode was a disgrace). Once it gets going it gets spectacular though.

Glad to hear it got better. I tried sticking with E7 and I reached my limit. I will try to give it another shot and will attempt to side step the filler this time.

The last episode has to be one of the best ending sequences in an anime ever From the start of Niji till the end is full of awesome.

Also a question I've never really answered myself

Who exactly are the sages? I realize they're rulers of some sort, and they know the secret about the planet... but beyond that I never got a good idea beyond that. Not sure if it was a shoddy translation or what

Even larger version of the key visual:

The mech kinda has features of both Nirvash AND type theEND. Ao also has the purple Coralian eyes.

I would have to rewatch the entire first series

sometimes these shows go right over my head I cannot remember the mythos or plot points
too many twists and secrets

hope its better than the first E7. that shit had some cool moments but over the course of 50 eps it was a draaaaaaag.

there's a really good 26 episode show underneath a lot of filler.

The story is starting to sound really weird. I'm not sure what Kyoda is really doing anymore...

The main character is Ao Fukai, a 13 year old boy living on Iwado Island in Okinawa. He has a childhood friend named Naru Arata. Ao's father's whereabouts are unknown, and his mother was abducted by certain people 10 years ago. He currently lives with an old doctor on the island named Toshio. Naru is a frail child since young who cannot go without an oxygen inhalator. When Naru was very young an incident happened which awakened the power of Yuta within her. (Yuta is a sort of mystic power which is part of an actual Okinawan culture/religion.)

Apparently the story in E7AO starts when Ao accidentally discovers Nirvash and reactives it to protect the island from some sort of danger.

Please be good... :(

Why does this sound disappointing already?

btw whats the time gap between E7 and this show? has it been mentioned already?

Oh well, at least sounds better than the movie...

Is Kyoda writing as well? I didn't see a writer in the staff list and was kind of assuming Dai Sato would come back from the resounding literary success of Tekken Blood Vengeance.

Mmm, delicious. Why yes, I will take some Macross Zero in my Eureka Seven, thank you!

Here's hoping for no irritating brats and I might actually watch more of this one!

At first I was like "okinawa? lol wut?" But then I remembered the ending to the original series, haha

This seems like it could be many, many, many years after the original series.

The sub character designer is funny though, since I always thought oreimo had Yoshida wannabe designs.

Oda isn't the "sub character designer" though. I think he's the animation character designer and overall character designer, while they're trying to retain the look of Yoshida's art style in E7. Oda is the one who did the Newtype spread this month. :(

good lord that movie was WOAT. Tekken has such great characters yet they chose to focus on the worst ones (Xiaoyu & Alisa seriously???)

Jeez, Renton and Eureka sound like such bad parents, abandoning their child like that. That setup sounds so generic.

I don't think Ao is their son. The expanded synopsis talks about Okinawa being a hotbed for the independence movement, and how some of the mechs that show up later are from the Japanese army. Minami's (the BONES producer) comments about the show also indicates that the setting in the world is going to be "much closer to the present day world" rather than "the rather fantastical worldview of the previous series". It would mean that as a sequel, this series takes place ages after the original, and somehow the world has reverted to something like our current world. Wut.

It sounds more and more like the show will be closer to Xam'd in tone than E7 TV. :(

So this new kid is probably not so much Eureka and Renton's son as it is a descendant (unless time travel shenanigans or something even more convoluted occurs).

So why is the Nirvash back in its original form, assuming that its even the same one?

Welp, I now wait for the time paradox ending to the show where the events of the new show need to take place in order to foster the events of the first show.

So the boy is going to be Eureka's father in the end, Renton and Eureka are going to end up being canonically be blood related somehow.

So is Kawamori back on? You have to remember that only the special mechs in E7 were really designed pretty well, the military mechs weren't anything special in regards to designs.

Not sure what to think of Oda for character design as this is really his first major show.

Also we don't have a writer it seems.

Edit: Fuck, Kyoda was responsible for the fucking trainwreck that is the movie. I was hoping that was a different director.

Kawamori seems to be specifically credited for designing the Nirvash. He might not be involved with the show much. As for Oda, this isn't his first major show. He is both the original character designer/illustrator for Oreimo (novels), as well as the animation character designer for the anime.

So, Dai Sato wrote the original series and then the director, Tomoki Kyoda, went on to write the movie. If Kyoda is writing the show... Good god, this will be bad. D:

This just keeps getting worse and worse.

That premise reminds me to much of Macross Zero....

At least Kyoda is directing!

I saw the Oreimo credits but it didn't mention him as the original character designer for Oreimo (light novels I mean). I actually liked the designs for the show so he might be an acceptable substitute.

The weak link of the mechincal designs seems to be Takayuki. Kanetake is a bit of a mixed bag.

We still don't have the two most important things, the composer and the writer.

Hoping that Satoru Kousaki does it. I would give my left nut though for Supercell to do this. A ryu composed OP and ED would be absolutely amazing for this.

Hiro Kanzaki and Hiroyuki Oda are the same person. He uses different names for... different purposes. Lol.

Lol ok.

The story is weird as fuck. I guess it fits into the cyclical nature of E7 but damn that is one hell of a time jump. Also the biggest problem I'm seeing with the story is the lack of scope. The big thing with E7 was that Renton was bored with his small shitty town and explored the world. Here it seems like he's going to be defending the island. It all seems like a mix of Xam'd and Star Driver.

Well, I don't want to jump to conclusions, so I'm not going to comment on the scope. There's nothing which indicates the entire show is going to take place on the island.

From what I've gathered, he is more of an illustrator and weapon designer. His illustrations are nice.

Oh I know, if you read a summary of the original series it would probably be something similar. We still don't know the episode count which will be a big indicator of what they want to do with the story.
But then again, they did have a good amount with Star Driver and did jack shit with it
.

That's fine I guess. I just hope that due to the backgrounds of the three that they don't revert to a more traditional mech design all around. The quality of military mech designs will probably go up but Nirvash type designs might go down.

just saw this news.

also saw the entire first series. i don't get it. i don't get it at all. i'd sure love to get it, because i feel like i wasted a bunch of time, but i simply don't.

Man ... last time I saw this series I was in HS. :/

I remember ...
2 girls with the stereotypical/ Japanese trope of having some soul link to giant robots. I don't get why Japan loves making characters have such connections to mechanical things ...
One of the girls had blue hair and was the title character, the other was some pink hair psycho-sexual nut bag that was drugged up for fights or something.
They had to smash their robots against each other of course because there must only be one robot-linked-girl!

The main characters were ... annoying as hell. The most annoying were those lil kids ... hated them.

The boy character was offered the chance to have cool, loving parents but told them to fuck off so that he could stay with the gang of unlikable characters. They died I think :/
That boy annoyed me to no end. IDK, was this the robot anime where the main boy doesn't realize that by smashing his robot against other robots he is actually killing the people inside? I remember that being an interesting point of focus that was handled poorly w/e series it came from.

Blue girl starts transforming into some ugly shit and runs away. They get back together and smash their SURFING robot against the nut-bag. (just remembered they could surf...)

And maybe someone had a miscarriage/ died when they were pregnant ... or they had a baby. Something about a baby or lack of one.

It also had an awesome opening song that made me take notice of the artist behind it.

Was that the general sum of this show?
Wonder if I should check up on it again. :l

i thought it was the tsundere girl talho who got pregnant. she also cut her hair, dressed differently, and had this creepy, wide-eyed vacant look about halfway in through the series because she had some sort of realization. she also suddenly became uninteresting because of reasons.

there was just a ton of shit going on. renton left the group and found this guy he thought smelled sweet and that guy's wife/girlfriend and those people were against the main group. also, the main group's leader, holland, had a brother in the main government's group. also the government was bad, but i can't really remember why, and there didn't seem to be any stakes or any reason to do what anyone did in the show. i think eureka was something like gozer because so many years ago, renton's dad brought about the not-apocalypse and renton's sister is gone.

also, eureka's a 'mother' becaue she found a couple of kids and they're the worst part of the show, which is saying a lot.

when i think back on the show, all i can remember is noises and colors. screaming, noises, and colors.
