Yep, and going back and buying the old Dungeon Keeper games, as many have suggested in this thread, is also contributing to the problem. Guess where that money goes?
EA knows they can shit out garbage like this and take money from the oblivious IOS audience, while also hitting the nostalgia button of hardcore gamers and tricking them into buying another copy of a game they bought 15 years ago.
That'd only be about 2 minutes long before a 24 hour wait time.![]()
Well i tweeted peter moore a article by kotaku that was referred to jim sterling his review and said to him i hope your proud of destroying my memories of a fantastic game.
In a situation like this, would it be considered morally wrong to hack the game and get everything for free/no wait?
If the OG DK makes more money than the mobile abomination then that would send a nice message.Yep, and going back and buying the old Dungeon Keeper games, as many have suggested in this thread, is also contributing to the problem. Guess where that money goes?

Pay $4.99 to speed up Garrus' calibrations.

And I find it baffling that so many gaffers seem to like it based on the OT.
When I tried it it seemed to be similar to Dungeon Keeper mobile.
Have I missed something?
Serious question not being snarky.
And EA said they were trying to be the best company of the year!?
Oh, okay. It's not new, it's an older iOS game. About a month old actually.
Microtransactions/Mattricks/In-App purchases, whatever you want to call them - they are a plague.
And its no surprise that we see more and more games being designed around them, or games having their existing designs coerced into the microtransaction mold.
We give these practices an inch and they end up spreading everywhere. Thats how this stuff works. Every time.
I have played a few of these 'time management' style games and still play Simpsons tapped out.

Even if you did that, there is no game or skill here. Timers are so embedded in the game that actual skill has been removed. So, get rid of the timers, and all you end up with is a dungeon building application. Kind of like if you removed the timers from Tiny Tower.
Can you explain to me how you find spending your time using Simpson's Tapped Out is worth it to you?
For all the (deserved) bitching about this game, it will still show up in the top grossing lists in no time.
Why? Because there are idiots out there who *will* pay for this shit. Not only that, they'll give it 5* reviews which will doubtless draw in successive waves of suckers.

even after this people are still going buy titan fall enabling them to pull more bullshit like this.
I have spent time creating my town, and unlocking free stuff to continue building and growing my town. I don't spend much time on it unless there is an event going on. It only takes 5 minutes to check in once or twice a day and collect the money, which will come in handy when they add more free content in future updates.
There is a certain amount of fun in tapped out of being able to create your own Springfield and it is satisfying to unlock more characters/buildings. Got really old fast for me though.I'm sorry, I meant to say- how is playing Simpson's Tapped Out, which is essentially the exact same game as Dungeon Keeper, better in your mind? You said that you didn't like Dungeon Keeper because it was skill-less and exploitative and completely dependent on timers... but Tapped Out is exactly the same...

The sad thing is that this cancer will slowly creep in core gaming.
Can't wait for the inevitable F2P market crash.
When everything is F2P then there will not be enough money going around to support them so it will become a solid business model for only a few games. Just like Sub based MMO's have pretty much disappeared because WoW owns the majority of the market. We already see games like Hawken and Tribes feel the weight of the F2P model not supporting them effectively.
