That's fucking depressing. Another Nintendo console I'll be skipping if true.
Well, how often do you expect Nintendo to bring out a title considering their development times on games if that is the bulk of the library? They don't have hundreds of studios! Every system needs third party support.
is it really a "hybrid" if it just puts out video? I mean there were a couple of PSPs and Vitas that did that, no?
Nintendo recommends a 32GB cartridge
In case any of you doubt the veracity of our own ShockingAlberto as a source, here is a PM I received from him yesterday evening.
He has given me permission to now post this. He also wanted me to mention nothing is confirmed until Nintendo confirms it.
I'm sure they'll solely port DirectX games to a Nintendo console

I'm kind of happy with this as a concept
Lets hope the execution and price point don't ruin it
Edit: I guess no PS4/XB1 ports then?
Game drought should be significantly improved by simply not having their internal studios supporting two different pieces of hardware.
I hope their handheld is as power as the Vita. There's not going to be a Vita successor so I hope Nintendo can reach Vita levels of quality.
I can play Pokemon Gen 8 and Diamond/Pearl remake on a TV.
i keep hearing about tegra x2. is this chip out? whats the specs? are there rumored specs if its not out yet? Is it confirmed to exist or just a good assumption?
Well they currently use 25 GB dvds so it seems it might be at or a tick above Wii U?Really curious how it'll affect game prices.
Oddly enough I think 'WiiGO' would actually be a nice name, and fitting to the 'Wii Play' thought process, but after the confusion the WiiU caused and their total failure to differentiate it such a name would never happen.
I don't understand the complainers about graphics.
First, Tegra is adequate. We're not going to get blown up 3DS resolutions on this "handheld".
Secondly, I think we are in a time where graphics mean less and less compared to gameplay. Sure hardcore gamers will nitpick, but I don't understand why Nintendo should overprice their system and drive up development costs to appease some hardcore tech gamers.
And last, third parties haven't been giving Nintendo many ports for what feels like... forever? If you want to play the most jaw-dropping $100+ million AAA 3rd party game, go buy a Neo or Scorpio. If devs are excited about NX, a large part of that is likely because they won't be in an arms race for graphics, which can allow for a lot more risks and unique experiences.
To converge their console/handheld business is brilliant. The absolute worse thing they could do at this point is get into an arms race with MS and Sony, release another expensive system, and drown some more.
Does this put to bed the rumors that Nintendo was taking a bit more time to look at VR?
playstation tv?
What if...different form factors = different variation like ps4/neo or XB1/Scorpio?
1. Hybrid
2. Stand alone console
3. Dedicated handheld
Ok, so on the one hand Nintendo positioned their already underpowered console in a market where the average device gets around 25% faster every year to go head to head with smart phones, on the other hand this thing has absolutely no chance against even the Xbone/PS4 let alone Scorpio/Neo. So in all honesty, WHAT IN THE FUCK NINTENDO?
16-32gb carts make sense. Nintendo hasn't really released a Wii U game that was over 25gbs right
Such thing is impossible to exist. You can still hope on the SCD though.Nope, it´s a hybrid, and I would solely use it as a home-console connected to my TV. So it has to compete with Neo and Scorpio in terms of graphics.

... So expect no 3rd Party support, then? Got it.
so who's in the market for a $300 handheld with $60 games???
How about Portable Nintendo Entertainment System?
Does he say anything about the docking station adding extra crunch (except from not needing to save battery life and thus increasing clocks)
Your own source says that there is a Tegra X1 chip inside NX development kits.More info about the chipset: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...-mobile-games-machine-powered-by-nvidia-tegra
A stock Tegra K1 which powers NX dev units have 0.365TF but likely the end-platform has some customizations. Power somewhere between a Wii-U and XB1 (but portable).
This is going to be a bust. It's not going to attract console gamers who want a powerful console with full third party support, it's not going to appeal to people who want to play games on the go because they'll go with their smartphone. All this new hybrid console does is consolidate Nintendo's two shrinking markets. This device perhaps solves Nintendo's dwindling market share problem, it wasn't created from a consumer's perspective.
