Eurogamer: SNES Mini currently in development

Good luck finding one!

Also, I have an odd feeling they won't even include Final Fantasy VI despite it being the best game in the franchise

Don't Star Fox, F-Zero, and Yoshi's Island all have issues that prevent them from being emulated or sold digitally?

I wasn't paying much attention to the Wii U VC, so I'm not sure if that was ever rectified. And it's been so long since the Wii, I guess I don't actually remember. I always seem to think these three games aren't available.

Am I wrong?
Not Fzero. It's been on every VC service. SFX games yes.

Ohshit

NES Mini I preordered at Gamemania like 5 days after reveal, was #42 in line, barely managed to snatch one in the end

Probably gonna have to pre-order this one immediately after its official reveal
Why is Terranigma not getting enough love here? :(
Just Terranigma would make the package godlike. Would be the first time for US players to easily play it too!

Most likely it'll be a US focused best of collection again that'll get 1:1 released in Europe tho, with crappy Football game included

Why would you not pick up at least one knowing how rare they are

I'm short of money at the moment and didn't expect Nintendo to discontinue them as fast as they did. Other Nintendo products that had similar shortages have been restocked accordingly (GCN adapter, amiibo) and I expected Nintendo to handle the NES mini the same way.

I'm also from Europe and NoE does usually a way better job estimating demand of a product than NoA. (Which is true even in this case. You could pre-order it for weeks from different retailers.)

They need to get Square, Capcom and Konami in on this pronto

Contra 3
Super Castlevania IV
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
Mega Man X
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Street Fighter 2

That plus all of Nintendo's games (if they could figure out how to work Yoshi's Island in, omg) easy purchase for me.

Sounds a bit weird launching a new product on the first holiday season of the Switch. There must be something more to it...

I'm expecting it to come with a Switch compatible cartridge with all the games or at least downloadable codes for it.

I dont think we will see any Square Enix games in this collection. I am curious to see if there will be North American devloped games like Earthworm Jim or Mortal Kombat in the collection.

Goody good, got my SNES Pad Classic controller ready to go. Should be easy to get in the UK as well, will secure a preorder just in case. :)

A cool idea but I'm so over playing nintendo's games and all the hoops to jump through just to purchase their products

If they ever bother to produce enough to meet demand then they can get my money. If they pull another NES mini then no thanks. I already likely own all the games included anyway.

Alternatively, it'll still be $60 but have less games. At the least, when you look at first party Nintendo games on the SNES and remove the stuff that obviously won't be included (re: licensed games, peripheral games, SuperFX games, and Killer Instinct), you'll notice that they have a vastly smaller library of games to pull from. You couldn't even match the number of first party Nintendo games on the NES before you'd start scraping the bottom of the barrel with games that virtually nobody would actually want (unless you really want Super Tennis and Super Play Action Football).

So my guess is we see an SNES mini that leans slightly more into third parties or one that has "only" 20 games, but the smaller number is made better by all those games being meatier experiences than a lot of what was on the NES mini.

Perhaps, but I think they'll look at the NES Mini and feel that they actually underpriced it. People were willing to pay WELL above retail for it, of course they created the market for that by underproducing it. We'll find out soon enough one way or the other.

I was hoping this was coming.

Nice, but give me some wireless controllers this time dammit!

With wireless controllers I'd be quite interested otherwise it's just not as convenient as I'd like it to be and might as well use emulators or the WiiU.

Unless I put on display or something.

...n64 mini next? That'd be an instabuy.

I just want the controller for my NES Mini.

Unfortunately controllers for the NES Mini were even harder to get than the console itself.

It better fucking look like a Super Famicom/ European SNES, because the American one is atrocious.

No way in hell.

The nostalgia factor is a big part. They'll go with the original regional designs.

It better look like the PAL SNES, not the blocky ass pink and purple NTSC one

Tell me you don't want this cool-looking shit.

A huge part of what made the SNES was the output from third parties. I'm not getting excited until I hear the greats from Capcom, Konami, Square etc. will be on the system.

It'd be nice to have one of these machines be connected to a virtual console we can continue to buy games from.

Or better yet, a PS2 with an HDMI port.

Unrealistic list of games I personally want:

Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Terranigma
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom
Lufia II
Chrono Trigger
