Eurogamer: SNES Mini currently in development

Yeah, no. That's not how Nintendo looks at their premium products. Also, Nintendo sees there is a high demand for this. The NES Mini showed it and more people will want the SNES Mini. They can charge higher on that alone because of the demand. If it costs $60 that tells me there is less than 30 games in it.

PLEASE! Lufia II isn't getting any love around here.

The only thing the NES Mini showed was how badly Nintendo was ripping us off with the VC.

People thinking the NES mini lead to switch sales....(rolls eyes).

Same with this, unless they go all out and launch VC on switch with shit tons of NES+SNES HD games at your fingertips for cheap prices. I don't see the same customer who impulse buys a piece of nostalgia for $60 then go and buy a $300+ console to play classic games. Just not happening.

It's almost as if maybe they need another product for the fall as they may not have the software this fall that people will buy in droves like they did with Zelda for switch launch.

You wonder.

My prediction:

1. Super Mario World
2. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
3. Super Mario Kart
4. F-Zero
5. Star Fox
6. Pilotwings
7. Super Metroid
8. Super Punch-Out!!
9. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
10. Kirby Super Star
11. Super Street Fighter II Turbo
12. Mortal Kombat II
13. Donkey Kong Country
14. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
15. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
16. Wario's Woods
17. Kirby's Dream Land 3
18. Mega Man X
19. EarthBound
20. Gradius III
21. Contra III: The Alien Wars
22. Breath of Fire
23. Secret of Mana
24. Final Fantasy II
25. Chrono Trigger
26. Final Fantasy III
27. Kirby's Avalanche
28. Kirby's Dream Course
29. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
30. Super Castlevania IV

Though to be honest, I expect either fewer games or a higher price point. If it is the same price, I'd reckon they could stand to drop FF2, Kirby's Avalanche, Dream Course, Mystical Ninja, and Breath of Fire.

Wasn't Castlevania III missing from the out-of-the-box NES Mini lineup? Can't verify right now but I think it was.

Something as stupid as only including two out of three classic Castlevania titles gives me little hope for the all-inclusive lists posted for this so far.

Derp! How did I leave F-Zero off my list? Smh...

Correct. CV3 is absent from the lineup.

I'm torn on this one...

On the one hand I loved the SNES, and love the controller.

On the other, it doesn't quite hit my childhood nostalgia like the NES (my first console) did. And while I owned only a few NES Roms on VC, I own about 20+ SNES Roms, so it's possible I'll own all the games included here.

Seeing what Nintendo decides to do with the VC on Switch and what the quality of emulation is like with be the deciding factor.

You can already scratch these 6 off. Think of 6 different ones instead.

Magical Quest would be cool, but licensing is an issue there, same with TMNT. I know it's a dream list, but I would love those games too haha.

I think current Disney and Capcom could make the Disney Super NES games work. They just released The Afternoon Collection and re-released Marvel vs. Capcom.

For TMNT, Nickelodeon would have to coordinate with Konami and that ain't happening, lol.

Nintendo lost out on my legacy system purchases when they made it next to impossible to find the NES. I don't want a half-complete collection, and I'm not shelling out scalper dollars to get on.

I would love if Zombies Ate My Neighbors was featured on this... One of my favorite games of all time.

Or at least if it could come to the Switch VC - perfect for co-op.

Can one of you mockup wizards do a ZAMN switch recoloring to match the protagonists?

Nintendo could of put the combined Donkey Kong and Junior rom DK: Classics on the NES mini but chose not to. Five games taking up one spot isn't going to happen.

I mean you could still count it as five games or however many are on there, but I see your point. In any event, people need to have SMB 3 on every list. No way it will be left out.

I also wouldn't doubt seeing more "Mario games" like the RPG and Dr. Mario.

I got up at 7:30am on November 11th, dropped my GF off at work, and then drove to Best Buy and got there around 8:10am. I then waited outside until 9:00am, got a ticket in line (#3), went to get breakfast, came back at 10am to a huge line of 100+ people, and got to cut in front of them to #3 in line and buy an NES Classic for $60.

It wasn't difficult. I did take the day off in advance (it was also my bday), but I didn't have to buy it from scalpers, or stalk stores.

I just had to get there hours before those 100+ people showed up at 10. 40 of us got them, and all 40 probably got there before 9am.

No overnights. No upcharge. No F5 mashing.

I'm confident if I give it some effort,I can get a SNES as well.

See, I should be excited about the possibility of a SNES classic, but the only thing I can think of right now is what kind of fuckery Nintendo is going to pull with the supply for these.

People kept talking about he financial incentives for ending NES Classic production in the other thread, but ignored what a PR nightmare doing so has been. A lot of potential customers are pissed, and therefore wary about anything else coming out.

News like this should not have negatives attached to it, but here we are.

Not trying to be a smartass here, but I really don't understand this argument. The idea of refusing to buy a product based on not being able to buy the previous product just doesn't add up to me...

Surely it hurts Nintendo if enough people decide to pass on the SNES Classic, but will that really be the case? If it is easy to find, will people who swore off of buying one really refuse to purchase it based on principle? Help me understand this one.

I never said I wouldn't buy it. It just doesn't bode well when the news of a potentially exciting new product is met with lingering bad feelings over the handling of the previous product. You can see how that is something a company wouldn't want? It indicates that there's a problem connecting with the customer base.

Predictions:

-- Square isn't gonna allow its games to be put on this one. No Final Fantasy, no Chrono Trigger, no Secret of Mana.

-- Konami and Capcom will be the third-party partners, with games we've seen on VC already: Contra III, Super Castlevania IV, Final Fight trilogy, Super Ghouls & Ghosts

-- No Super FX games make the cut, so Star Fox and Yoshi's Island won't be here.

-- All three Donkey Kong Country games make the cut.

-- Kirby gets at least two games in the lineup.

-- MSRP will be at least $10 more than the NES Mini.

Why would SE not be involved?

I definitely get the idea of bad customer relations, I was just questioning whether that would really hurt their sales here. If they weren't using their own products and had a very consumer-friendly competitor, I'd say they'd be facing some trouble. As it is, their handling of the NES Classic kind of sucked but they don't have a ton of incentive to change their approach. Mom and pop are still going to go nuts for this during the holidays rather than buy their kid a Raspberry Pi.

My mistake. I see it haha. Good list!

SNES never got Super Turbo. Only Super. SFA2 would be fun lol.

I'll be getting one for sure, even though I have an SNES and there will be some repeats. Still, it's funny that Nintendo failed to meet demand on the NES classic, cancelled production without meeting demand, and will now release a new production in which you know the same thing will occur. I'll be preordering for sure. Didn't do that with the NES classic and regretted it, but eventually found one.

Derp! How did I leave F-Zero off my list? Smh...

Correct. CV3 is absent from the lineup.
Dracula's Curse is a little trickier to emulate and I don't remember for sure if the NES Classic Edition emulator can even play it if you side-load the ROM. I feel probably not.

I need to start training my mouse click finger for the 2 minutes that they're available for pre-order. Make sure my accounts with Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Amazon are good to go and thoroughly vetted for any possible billing or credit card errors. Of course I'll probably be asleep when the pre-orders go live at 3AM or whatever weird time they do.

I'll need to work on a contingency plan for ordering while I'm asleep.

It's always funny how few Nintendo games you find on the SNES compared to the NES. I suppose the existence of the GB contributed to that.

Also I have no idea what SF2 games are on the SNES or what the definitive version is lol.

Fuck yeah, I'm in... in for disappointment trying to find somewhere that'll have the fucking thing in stock no doubt, but I'll buy a few tickets for the raffle at least and see how we go.

I won't be getting one based on how they handled the NES version. I spoke with a few other people who were similarly burned and they aren't that interested. This thread is going the same way. Nintendo really fucked up with how poorly they handled the production of essentially a potato. They could have been cranking these out but nope.

Although I started my gaming life with the NES its SNES Mini I want. I would like Euro Japanese design and not the crappy American one.

These things aren't rocket science. If raspberry pi's can be produced in large numbers at that price Nintendo can manage it without issue

They probably devote more of their resources to the more profitable items

The margins on the classic would probably be some of the smallest out of all their lines

Super Metroid and Link to the Past are more than enough to make this an instant buy... but they'll probably be on Switch VC whenever that rolls out too... fuckkkkkk.

Those two are guaranteed.

Hacking the thing to put the whole SNES library on there gets me pretty moist

It's so weird that the impending release of SNES would lead to ending production on the NES. There is massive demand for the classic, and the internals will be essentially identical. What's the conflict? I don't understand why they can't do both- beyond incompetence.
