Evolve PC performance thread

Yes they do, thank you. Standard geometry edge quality seems pretty good, but sub-pixel aliasing looks entirely unaffected. Basically what you'd expect from a SMAA 1x result. Can you add that one to the comparison?

the temporal aspect only kicks in when you are moving. when standing still its just regular smaa 1x. the quality of this version is very similar to watch dogs temporal smaa.

But that's clearly a broken implementation. Like, skipping the whole per-frame temporal jittering of the projection matrices.

its the most common form of temporal AA tho. the only temporal AA i think ive experienced in a pc title that worked while not moving are txaa and ryse smaa 1tx(but even with these quality is further improved in motion, most noticeably on vegetation.) all of the temporal aa in ubi games for example require movement. i need to go back and check if advanced warfare requires movement.

Well, many people doing it wrong doesn't make it less wrong :P

UE4 has actual, working temporal AA, and it's in fact even better in static scenes than when you are moving (which makes sense, since you can more accurately accumulate samples for unmoving stuff).

Any word on GTX 560Ti performance? With i5 2500k, 8GB or comparable setup?

I'm in the same boat, though I think I am running a 4570 or something like that. Since the 560 was the "minimum" I am concerned that I'd have to knock a lot of setting down to High/Medium to get a good FR.

We've released new Evolve Game Ready drivers: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-347-52-whql-driver-released

Usual assortment of optimizations, tweaks, and profiles (including SLI for Evolve).

Cheers, updated OP. As an aside, and I already know the answer, but can you say whether or not AssCreed Unity's tessellation patch is still happening? As per SteamDB, v1.05 has been in development for over a month now, which is the longest incubation period yet, so I can only assume this is the "now or never" moment.

Someone with a GTX670 + I52500k & 8go of Ram tried the beta ? How was it :o ?

GTX 780, i5 2500K @ 3.4GHz, 16 Gigs RAM

Played the Big Alpha, and the game ran smooth for the most part, but there were hitches every once in a while. Played it at max settings and got 60 FPS for roughly 95% of the time, with the other 5% varying between 45 and 30.

Is it just me or enabling motion blur via the .cgf file messes up the introdution part when we're still inside the plane? Is that the only place where something similar happens?

Anyone having any issues with hitching or stuttering?

It doesn't matter if my settings are on low or very high, I have the exact same framerate of ~44fps. This is really odd because the beta was an extremely smooth 60fps at very high. I'm using SLI 970s with the latest driver. Rolling back on drivers made no difference. Capping or unlocking the framerate made no difference. Even when the game hits 100+ fps it hitches constantly.

It could be SLI or lack of video memory.

picked this up, motion blur is bugged. the 3 teammates on the intro ship are all permanently blurred and glitchy, so is your first person gun/gadget

after more playing its just really buggy in general in various ways. worked much better in the beta oddly enough

This 1tx doesnt look like Ryse's implementation. Hrmm

Txaa in this game is free perf wise snd the quality of it is pretty similar to ryse when in motion. Completely deactivates when standing still tho

I looked into the pbr, and found a reddit q/a with one of the employees stating they did switch over to it as you posted. But man, it sure as hell doesnt look like it. Its a nice looking title with the clean iq txaa provides, but all the materials have that typical pre-pbr direct lighting+diffuse gamey look

Really bad performance for me on my 7970, and crossfire not working yet.
Hoping for a driver update but since the Omega drivers AMD has been incredibly slow.

kepler is really faring poorly in recent games. both consoles using GCN seems to be having serious effects. even the 980 gets beat by the 290x in this title.

I don't think it's a coincidence that both Evolve and Ryse perform far better on AMD hardware.

I'm guessing the latest iteration of CryEngine simply favors GCN.

edit: That said, Evolve's GameWorks features aren't in yet, so that could make a difference.

The relatively poor performance of Kepler could simply be attributed to weaker GPU compute performance. It's known for a long time that this is one of the GCN's strongsuit.

The 7970 will have insane legs.

Having a controller in apparently fucks up keyboard prompts in menus. Also, anyone found out how to skip the intro videos?

Click skip? :p
Don't know if there's a command line switch for it.
My framerate really takes a dive when playing with just bots. Runs great otherwise and looks incredible. Shame about the FOV lock.

I7 2600k/780ticlassy/16GB.

Nice AMD optimisation at play there.
Can someone explain the 80ms spike on the 290x in the frametimes graph? (NM it's as the player takes control?)

considering all the benchmarks in both links, the 290x wins.

edit - went back and checked, and in pretty much every new title, kepler is just horrible. a 780 gets matched or beaten by a 7970 for example. games i checked include far cry 4, unity, dragon age inquisition, the crew, advanced warfare, dead rising 3, ryse, mordor, and now evolve

I was just thinking how well it's going on my 7970: I'm also on Omega... waiting for the new Beta to drop any day now (it's on Guru already).

I do get the odd frame hiccup when it all gets hectic on screen... but apart from that it's running awesome 60fps on high settings in 1080p.

That's really werid, maybe it's my CPU holding it back (2500k @ 4.3)

Will it run on my poor old laptop? I have GTX 460M and I'm planning on getting a new laptop soon.

I have the same poor old graphics card and it was somewhat playable on the lowest settings (I even have to lower the resolution to 720p).

More benchmarks. 280X stay fly, look at it go

AMD needs better Crossfire support though, damn

Am I reading the CPU chart right in that the i7 5960x demolishes the 4770K? Because of the double number of cores?

I don't know what ITu is. GHz?

Actually, what's going on... i5 4670K doesn't have that many and it's whooping i7 4770K?

wtf is going on with this chart in the middle section before amd:

Russian translation says 4 and 16 threads are okay, 6, 8 or 12 is limited.

fun with hyperthreading bugs?

this: http://www.computerbase.de/2015-02/evolve-benchmarks-14-grafikkarten-im-vergleich/ has CPU benchmarks with i7, cores disabled, no hyperthreading etc. Seems fine (other than AMD's driver hating dual core CPUs).

Just bought the game and while FPS supposedly is at 60 the game does not feel that smooth.

I do have an I7 (4770K @ 3.5 ghz). I didn't get stuttering in Ryse.

Very weird.

i7-870 @ 2.93 GHz
8GB System RAM
GTX 760 2GB

Im struggling to run the game at even a steady 30FPS on medium (no AA, Vsync On, 1080p)

Anyone have a similar setup with better results?

All my games run superbly except this one :

Something is up. My GPU usage rarely if ever goes above 75%. Latest drivers.

Strange, my CPU barely goes above 30% usage on all cores, it hovers mostly in the 10~20% range. And GPU scales fines to 100% usage when needed with the 347.52 driver. What's your setup?

Ok guys I was only trying out the SP mode just to learn how to play and it runs pretty bad now. However the MP mode runs as it should (60fps locked with max settings).

So this only affects the SP.

Or could just be because the Bot AI in Single payer requires a good CPU.

My sp games run sub 30 fps..mp is fine for me though.

i7-870 and GTX 760 2GB

Evolve being primarily a MP game the performance in SP is of little importance.

This game looks really good, screenshots don't do it justice. I wish Turtle Rock implemented motion blur it would really make it look even better in motion.

Cryengine has always run better with HT on (significantly better even). So I would doubt that.

They probably wrote all the AI in lua or something (like dolts).

Well whatever they've done, poor performance in SP seems to not affect CPUs capable of handling only 4 or 16 threads. If you have poor performance with a 4 core i7, you can try to disable Hyperthreading.
