Haven't really used that one too much. Just used him last night in Super Excite, might try him online. But isn't it kinda light? That "Super Bot Smash from the start" trick can back fire on you if your bots not a good bit heavy compared to the one behind it. I remember my Spider being tossed up in the air after the bot behind me kinda slide right under it.

But yeah, from what I remember it's either the lobster or the scorpion (or both? Or the Crab?) that I noticed was really good at bot smashes last night.

Hummingbird FTMFW. I love that bot. Easily my favorite so far.

I try to save that one for doing tricks in those China areas. I hate China with the larger bots. >_>

just had a Plat. Canada match online. i was ahead of the pack, doing well... when i hit a tree. i spawned mid-air after being hit by another bot and that shit sent me flying! i did a 5040 and i think i had room for another spin or two. i honestly thought i was never coming down. :lol

favorite bot is crab so far. i just S'd regular Excite, so i still have a bunch of bots to unlock.

I like more than one bot myself. The Hornet and Hummingbird are 2 of my favs because they are soo good at spinning but I love using the Spider for the power (it's also pretty good at spins IMO). Always fun to slam on the brakes in the beginning of a online round when theres a light bot behind me! Starts the match with a Super Bot Smash and it's not that hard to catch up with the others.:lol

It depends. I can't handle the ones with high grip because the steering actually works well, but a lot of people are liking them. I'd just try out a variety of high grip/low grip and high weight/low weight and see which one works the best. If you prefer one of the grips but don't like the weights, you can probably find a bot with medium weight that will be okay.

I bet you'd like high grip better though.

So after getting 25 S ranks with the Mouse, I tried using some other bots today. I'm liking the Hummingbird, but there was a slight learning curve with doing air spins. I've noticed that because each bot spins at a different speed, you can't seesaw the Wiimote back and forth with the same timing for the Hummingbird as you would for the Mouse. It's a subtle difference, but it's there.

I like the Beetle's grip, it feels like how I thought the Roach would feel given it's nature.:lol

is the worst bot at this point. I have NEVER seen anyone use it and it is slow regardless of boost and it's hard to spin. But maybe Im being too hard on it . . . only played that bot twice.

I was crashing a lot to begin with as well (never played ET) but I think its more to do with getting used to the controls. I think I used the mouse for a while and got the hang of it.

Yeah, I couldn't join any match for well over an hour, and it happened twice more for shorter periods. Hope this doesn't become normal...It's the first I experienced any issue.

I bought it on the Wii because I wanted to play with the pointer, then two weeks later every single game I'd join was impossible to play due to horrible lag. I ended up trading that one up for the 360 version. I hate the online system, HATE IT!

Yeah, I noticed that using the Scorpion was key for him. He'd always use the speed in the second half of the last lap to pull ahead when I raced him.

i decided i've spent enough stars so far, so i lended the game to a colleague, and returned to ET where it's communism and the material things come through merit.

Nintaiyo I think you are better than you are letting on, you also had bad luck with two of the 3 races being on gold scotland and platinum fiji (my two best stages, my other "best stage" being plat canada). Nabs you should have seen the IRC chat when you were in the lobby with Nick and I. It was all like "Yeah Nabs GAF holding it down", and then the next race you bash me into a tree on a tree run and steal my soccer ball and it was like "That fucking Nabs!" :lol

Kind of a sad state about EXCITE online. We figure that since there isn't a "follow the leader" option like mario kart online, that we'd need the IRC to co-ordinate GAF friend lobbys. However since there are so few people playing online it usually takes one or two attempts at joining a pub to get into another gaffer's lobby. Most people you run into, you can expect to see again, and about 90% of the people i've seen online can be found in the online forum excite thread and its ign/gamefaqs equivalent. Other large gaming boards don't even have excite threads. I think Nicktals, RagnarokX and I are the only ones using the GAF suffix, it has a tendency of scaring off racers :lol. There's even a Gfaqs thread about it. People rage quit more when there's two GAF suffix users placing first and second than when there's myself and two other gaffers without the suffix taking first through third.

I think the only genuinely horrible bots in the game are the beetle, turtle and the squid, which is a shame since the squid alt and beetle alt

are among my favorites. I'd like to lump the Mantis in the shitty bot list, but some people live by it. Hummingbird's my best since it excels at where I need it to Fast red bar speed, decent enough turbo, decent enough air time, great air spins and easy to control on tree runs.
