Exist Archive coming west this October (PSVita/PS4)

Aksys has always been very good at providing dual audio to us. To me that's a big selling point whenever I see their name behind a game.

We're getting English & Japanese voices. I'm getting this on the Vita.

Good stuff, I figured it'd be like this since it's Aksys.

I wonder if we'll get a limited edition, it's been awhile since we got one of those from them that's not for a fighting game.

Even after many patches (1.04 now), the PS4 version still

1. Freezes while in loading screen (i.e. infinite loading)
2. System error (game immediately terminates, prompted to submit report to Sony)

It is a decent game if you

1. Don't mind the system issues above
2. Like the VP1 battle system
3. Don't mind traversing similar areas repeatedly throughout the game
4. Don't mind seeing numerous reskins of monsters throughout the game
5. Don't mind the Chibi style character models

Story and music are subjective so I won't comment.

With FFXV, Star Ocean 5, I Am Setsuna, Trails of Cold Steel II (possibly), Fire Emblem Fates, Tokyo Mirage and even more JRPGs coming between now & then, by October you'll probably want it to be released later than October

The latter half of this year is JRPG/Adv packed, and these are the only ones that have confirmed dates:

June 7 - Odinsphere Leiftrasir
June 28 - Zero Escape 3: Zero Time Dilemma
June 28 - Star Ocean 5

July 19 - I Am Setsuna

September 9 (tent) - Trails of Cold Steel II
September 30 - Final Fantasy XV

October 18 - Exist Archive

I would put 0 stock in that Cold Steel II date, it might as well not have one. XSEED's dates are always placeholders until they drop a press release formally announcing one (typically fairly close to the release date). Sometimes it's the same as the placeholder, other times it isn't.

Everyone should expect that to be bumped back and be pleasantly surprised if it isn't. Cold Steel's original placeholder was something like October and it barely made it out before Christmas.

Some others have dates too.

Atelier Sophie - June 7
Grand Kingdom - June 21
Tokyo Mirage Sessions - June 24
Fairy Fencer F - July 26

And a bunch more with no dates. And if you're including visual novels it gets even crazier.

That date was up while they were still recording VO, I doubt it's firm and legit.

I think it's crazy that Square Enix is releasing Star Ocean 5, I Am Setsuna, and FFXV in the same year.

2016 is already jampacked with JRPGs. I hope it doesn't mean anything.

They might do something like they did with langrisser 3ds where amazon gets an exclusive artbook and OST to give away with preorders.

I would honestly be amazed if it does get pushed back anything more than a week, if anything it would get brought out earlier. The blackhole that is FF15 should be enough to tell any jrpg to not come within it's release window. I think they gave themselves enough leeway this time around between finishing voice work (they finished at the beginning of this month) and a release candidate, unlike CS 1 where the original placeholder date was only 2 months after they finished voice work.

Since it's been said that the placeholder dates they choose are a likely estimate for when the actual release is. I'd assume that they underestimated how long it would take to fit in all the voice overs in CS 1, since it was their largest voice work project to date.

Well, Let's say setting your expectation low is always helpful.

Those that discussed in the import thread it's a solid game that has decent mechanics which more or less straight up Valkyrie Profile in terms of combat and skill systems. The impressions come across it's as Valkyrie Profile as possible without actually being Valkyrie Profile or having the Yoshinari brothers doing the art.

The only major issue the game has is some minor stuttering issues, but overall doesn't seem to detract majorly from the whole experience.

Hopefully the US release will make a bit more cash for tri-Ace. Really great year for tri-Ace fans between this and SO5. This was one of my most wanted localization announcements... so with that, TITS 3, Cold Steel 2, and DQ7 out of the way, I guess the next thing to pray to the gods of localization for are the 2 Crossbell games.

Amazing year for RPG fans, I've been waiting years for something like this! Gonna be the first year I spend more time playing new games than backlogged games - SO5, Setsuna, FF15, Exist Archive, Cold Steel 2 and hopefully Persona 5.

Yeah I expected this months ago. Might as well place an order for Tokyo Xanadu already as well
Yeah I'll be importing this. As soon as I heard Aksys I was nigh on certain we'd never get a physical version. Even still it kind of sours me though there is an option availablefor a retail copy. I still haven't bought Zero Time Dilemme despite being a huge fan of 999 and VLR. As for Tokyo Xanadu PS4 version with extra content, I'll hold off for now

Vita? So...I'm assuming this is another RPG with anime girls in fetish costumes? I'm seriously asking.

Not really...

Hopefully this game is better than SO5 which I sold after 10 hours (played SO2, 3, and 4 and liked those just fine). Will probably wait till it's much cheaper.
