I have a lot invested in my own identity is a gamer. I organise monthly gaming events, I've flown to the other side of the world to go to a gaming convention and I even study video games in a tertiary school. Everybody I know, knows me as a gamer and I don't have a problem with that. It's not like I shout it off rooftops, but if somebody asks me about myself the topic is more than likely to come up.
To me this sounds like asking a really camp gay guy to tone it down a notch. "Hey really camp gay guy," says the really normal looking gay guy. "Why don't you relax on the campyness a little? You're drawing attention to your sexuality."
