Indeed, it "seemed innocent" which is entirely the point. There is a LOT of adult humor in Animaniacs, and yet on the surface it seems innocent when you watch it as a kid.

Griffith literally defeats Guts in one-on-one combat in their first encounter as an effete man that presents himself like a woman. This is followed by grabbing Guts' face with both his hands, inches away while staring into each others' eyes and says "you are now mine" and later we get a "shower scene" with them together. If you were presented this kind of staging in a modern show, videogame, or anime, you would be screaming "woke" from the rooftops. The subtext is blatantly obvious, this stuff is gay as fuck.

To be fair, these quotes were said by people who thought that their own way was the correct way. They did not account for innovators who offered experiences that did not fit into their box of what gaming should be, i.e. minecraft for example.

I didn't see a game in that 30 minute video. I saw a suuuuuper annoying menu system. A word excel spreadsheet with fancy graphics, animation, and dialogue.

Maybe the "game" part reveals itself when you actually play the game...but they had 30 minutes to sell us on fun and I didn't see it.

I agree that this video was released incorrectly. I would have released the combat or story video first for a game like this.

However the other things you don't like…those are just Fable staples man …at least since part 2 most of those systems have been staples of the I.P. and considering most people here claim 2 is their most favorite, nostalgic title, it's a system that directly caters to them.

I'm more of a fan of Fable 1 myself and I also don't like Fable 2 as much as others here do, but that game won over the fanbase at large so it is what it is.

Highly agreed. Regardless of what was scrapped behind the scenes, the game that made it to store shelves feels like the most complete Fable game out of the three.

I felt that way on original Xbox and still feel that way on my recent playthrough.

And my hot take was also that the combat felt the best in Fable 1. I don't know what happened or who left the team, but it felt like they went from attempting to emulate japanese game combat in 1, to doing the usual stiff, 2000s western RPG jank combat with Fable 2.

Not a hot take to me at all, the combat definitely felt better in the original, whereas the sequel was focused more on accessibility. The original's combat reminded me a lot of Phantasy Star Online due to the player-selected mapping of abilities. Now that you have me thinking more about this, I just realized that even modern releases like the soon-to-be-shut-down New World Aeternum used a similar control scheme. And the action combat in New World was infinitely more engaging than anything in Fable 2 or 3.

All this is cool and all and I definitely will be trying this stuff out but at the end of the day i care about the action adventure part, the quests they created for us, the main and side stories, the cool locations with enemies both human and beasts. That's what i want to see next.

Fable protag has questionable lowerbody and animation, devs gotta fix it or at least make a slider durning char creation so lowerbody has less curves like in normal males, not skinny fat low test sissys xD

I think so. You could buy all businesses and homes in 2 and 3, then upcharge prices and rent so that entire towns would hate you.

In Fable 3 I ended up having to squeeze people's pockets to their limit so that I could make the War quota. Sometimes I even said no to costly things like a new school, which would drop the morale of everyone. They felt mixed about me in the end. But I saved everyone.

Combat looks like Fable 1, lol. Definitely a little simple for the time but I'm here for it. Looks great to me. Give me novelty and humor with a fun basic game concept and make it super British with old school British humor and that's exactly what I want.

I haven't watched Berserk for a really long time, but iirc there was definitely some gay subtext there. He's clearly much more interested in Guts than in any of the women. But also how I interpreted what happens anyway is that Griffith is deeply selfish, which is why he reacts the way he does after Guts leaves, and then later when he escapes from prison.

Hmmm, Playground kinda missed me with this. Visually it is about on par with Veilguard and combat looks janky and clumsy. Art direction is not cohesive, environments and architecture are stylized in parts and fairly standard in others and people while donning a nice variety of outfits look completely pedestrian and bland as opposed to the highly stylized look of previous Fable games. This will be a gamepass title for me rather than the full purchase Horizon 5 and 6 got out of me.

I'm pretty sick of this tripe. Game's a hard pass, and it'll do nothing to right the sinking ship that is Xbox. If anything, it's turning the cannon on their own hull.

The stances, postures, and facial features of the "women" are all those of men. The "male" main character has an effeminate hip sway in his walk, which no toned, sword-wielding male warrior is ever going to exhibit.

This means one of two things:
1) The developers are incompetent.
2) The developers are doing the thing, and yes, that means this game carries the message, and is thus, by parlance, "woke."

It's strictly binary. One or the other. And either means I don't care about this game.

Game is good looking but ultimately bland. The same way Starfield was bland. No edge whatsoever. A game designed not to offend. Every character ran through some woke HR filter set to high.

I also hate the modern writing in the game. It looks to have completely watered down the charm of the early Fable games. Lastly, is there a male option for your character or is the male option just a skin over the female one like they showed in earlier gameplay reveals? There needs to be clarity surrounding that.

What gave the original games charm is that it was unapologetically British. The games didn't care if they offended. There was good and evil and if you were evil you could do evil things. I imagine the modern version of this if it even exists is being good or kind of a dick. This game has taken so long in development I suspect because they have had to walk back some of most egregious woke shit as the landscape has shifted. They fully intended to have this game be a female character only experience and the backlash has caused them to pivot away from the character they demoed originally that was loathed.

Seriously, this game is likely just another feminised bucket of slop; co-opting the IP and puppeting it. Inhabiting the corpse of the original IP, pretending none of us won't notice it doesn't move the same, talk the same, walk the same or behave the same. Well this isn't Fable, just the devs picking some of the systems from the previous games and tossing out anything that might offend the new target demographic - a 'modern audience' aka modern leftists. Fuck this game and fuck Playground.
