Best voice acting ever? I dunno man, Digital Devil Saga is strong competition.

Best voice acting in an -RPG- ever. I played DDS in its entirety, and I still don't know why people list that game as some strong voice acting contender. It was very unimpressive for me, and I love that game.

That's what I'm saying, even as RPGs go...

It is entirely impressive, especially when their Atmas awaken and their voices change subtlely to incorporate actual emotion. Shadow Hearts II has impressive voice acting, as do Persona 3 and 4. In fact, I'd say Persona 4 has some of the best voice acting I've ever encountered outside of DDS.

Digital Devil Saga has some quality voice acting, but out of all the Shin Megami Tensei games I've played, I feel that Persona 3 is the one to beat.

I haven't played Persona 4 yet.

This combat looks like a step forward from X-2 and a good evolution of the ATB concept - it's absolutely a step backward from XII in terms of bringing back a separate battle screen, but I agree with folks saying that it's better just to see XII as an Ivalice game and not along the same line of evolution. X, X-2, XII and XIII represent different approaches to trying to make battle fun and strategic and fast and cinematic - and let's face it, FF battles after FF5 were barely any of these things until FFX, even if their actual character/ability growth systems were good. FFXII was a huge leap in some ways but also got some things wrong that FFX-2 got right. I have confidence that this stuff will keep evolving and we'll see control, strategy, fun, AND without a separate battle screen in the future. In the meantime, have fun and enjoy the process and be happy that starting with FFX they've realized that normal ATB wasn't enough and are experimenting and working on making it as fun as they can.

I'm sorry but this is awful:

STOP! BE QUIET!

EVERYONE STARTED...FREAKING THE HELL OUT!

Digital Devil Saga did not have good voice acting. The delivery of much of the script was routinely awful, with awkward reading of lines and frequent fallback to amateur-hour.

Like I said, I like DDS, and I don't know why people list it as a good voice acting in RPGs.

Eh, the original KH had some absolutely fantastic voice work, Billy Zane, James Woods and hell, Haley Joe did a terrific job. FFXII was much more consistent however.

Persona 3's dub work is really impressive, with exception to one or two characters. :D

Also, while we're going all off topic, AGAIN, I'll just throw my love for FFXI out there again and say that no matter what anyone says about IX, or XII, or whatever: XI, its expansions, its expanded reading material (Vanadiel Tribune and seasonal events descriptions), and its in-game lore, is waaaaaay more awesome than aaaaanything that any FF could ever hope to be.

I agree with this post.

Also, Quistis <3 Fuck Rinoa D:
Yes.

As for VA's, Billy Zane was amazing as Ansem, I had nothing but rage at his replacement. Basch, Larsa, Cid and Gabranth's VA's were my faves in FFXII.

Totally forgot to mention Christopher Lee as
Ansem the Wise
he was fantastic.

Wow an MMO with constant updates for going on 7 something years has more content than singular games. Woah, I would have never guessed...

Yeah, war of the lions was good in just about every way a VG story can be good. Reeder/matsuno did a godly job with the translation as well.

Yes, i have see some youtube videos. I give FF12 extra points 'cuz it attempts that fake-Victorian shit and the actors did not fail at it.

I still think FFT's script has yet to find a happy medium. Original had some very awesome lines but was all Engrished up. The newer one is much more clear overall but it also changed good lines unnecessarily and goes overboard on ye olde fake english.

...What the hell is that C button doing there? Does that specific battle menu not pertain to the actual face buttons or something? I'm confused

The happy medium would have been 12. Best use i have seen of 'old English' so far.

I personally think that it is close enough, but then again, i did not play the first for too long, so i do not know it is they changed.

It's a platform-neutral trailer for a game that, if it were to make allegiances, would make message boards blow up if it went either way. That's how I perceive it anyway.

Just incase you didn't know Chilly that was a KH2 line, I don't want you to think I was offending you. :lol

Ontopic: I really hope a new demo is made and sent off to PSN and 360.

Not really. They even changed his voice in flashbacks to KH1. And they had the same voice for Riku-Ansem that they did for Xemnas.

In one of the ultimania books that was released, there was a comment made that since, technically, when Sora and Co. faced Ansem they were unaware of nobodies or the fact that Ansem was a heartless (discounting of course Lord Xenmas' appearance in KH I), the voice that they associated with Ansem was able to change.

Yeah, KH logic is about as crazy as it gets.

You mean Sora, Donald, and Goofy right?

Are they always called by that order? I haven't noticed until people on Gaf posted about it. :lol

So far I like the FF XIII English voices. Keep up the good work Square and no delays please.

If you actually READ my post, you would realize that I wasn't just talking about content. The writing quality is consistently awesome, and I doubt its just thanks to localization alone, and this is carried over and through both the in-game stuff as well as out-of-game reading material like the Vanadiel Tribune.

While i sorta agree with you, i think it is best to leave FFXI out of FF discussions.

Other than the fact that it brings a lot of contempt because it is an MMO, most people also have not played it, so you are wasting your time praising it.
