From SVVR less than a month ago:

When asked if the tech firm would police what kind of programs — specifically X-rated ones — are available for download on the head-mounted display, Oculus VR’s Palmer Luckey reaffirmed that, “Rift is an open platform.”

“We don’t control what software can run on it, and that's a big deal,” he told an audience at Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference and Expo, according to Wired.

Where porn WON'T exist is within Oculus' hub and storefront. But, very specifically, they said less than a month ago that they will not be blocking pornographic applications from running on the rift.

But will it cum with a cleaning kit?

I expected this to be the case anyway, I think it'd be suicide for Oculus not to be an open platform (an optional curated platform like the Oculus store doesn't jeopardise that).

Awesome, not fond of professional porn stars but it's pretty damn surreal.

Hopefully Sony allows standard movie files for PS4 for morpheus so they can get in on the action too.

Personally I don't get why the hell they have any control over what can and can't be run on a display device anyway.

There isn't monitor or TV brand exclusives is there? I don't need a Samsung to watch certain shit, why would this platform be closed in the first place? Not only why, but how? Isn't it just two screens in a headset with some LEDs on the front?

Someone needs to work on integrating the flesh light with this thing ASAP

Because TVs are merely output devices. They don't really communicate back to the host platform in any meaningful ways.

VR headsets are both output and input devices. They require drivers and software to talk to the host platform. If the platform doesn't understand the device that is sending input, it won't work.

That, as an example, is how they killed OSX and Linux support for the rift and made it windows vista+ exclusive.

Well then all that takes is making a third party driver for the camera, similar to when someone made a driver for the kinect for PC right?

Aka...this is all meaningless since someone will have 'unofficial' support for it almost immediately.

the camera isn't responsible for tracking in isolation, it tracks using sensor fusion from the IMU inside the rift.

There are numerous ways to prevent the creation of a third party driver, such as, as an example, an embedded bios on the rift itself to do a handshake with the host application.

EDIT: That's not to imply they are doing that, mind you, but a third party driver popping up is not guaranteed nor is it impossible to prevent.

The porn angle is a nice hook for a story I guess, but the whole thing is about Oculus allowing custom content - something that has seemed to be the case since the start. If they didn't would be the bigger story, and it would probably be suicide for their platform.

I forgot Facebook owned the rift, for a moment I thought it had something to do with a porn game that could load facebook pics onto a 3D model... of course Facebook would never say yes to that hahaha, what a shitstorm that would cause.

Do you guys ever think how weird it's gonna be for the performers, with the "cameramen" wearing some google street view shit on their heads while fuckin'?

There's already POV porn where the performer wears something like that.

Check out POVD (NSFW obviously) -- they shoot their content quite creatively, all in a high frame rate, too. I can imagine them jumping on this, seems right up there alley.
