Very late game spoilers:

Okay, the late game faction crap is stupid. False dichotomies everywhere. I get what they tried to do, but it was very poorly done.

Exactly what I feel, except the game got so bugged that I could only stick with one faction lol.

Decided to go with the (late game factions/ending spoilers)
BoS ending route first.

It's the route I like the least seeing how
much of Nazis they are
and mainly because if I get this route out of the way first once I reload either of the two saves I had before making the big decision first thing I can do is
steal the airship captain hat, and kill Maxxson for his coat

Looking forward to beating this route asap. I'm even going to read trophies to see if there's any trophies to make sure I can just go straight-gun it and then reload to do other routes.

I kind of want to side with BoS just because seeing Power Armor Knights jumping out of Vertibirds is way cooler than Preston telling me to go help settlers while chilling on a couch in Sanctuary.

To those who have completed the game in factions that aren't the BoS specifically
Institute or Railroad
is it possible to (theoretical spoiler)
kill Elder Maxson for his coat before any possible quest detailing his murder?
I'm not sure if it's possible but I've heard that it may bug out the game if you do something like this. I don't mind a detailed yes/no answer I'd appreciate the knowledge if somebody did it.

Problem is the Vertibirds are made out of paper mache and a lone Super Mutant can take them down with a spitball. Don't get in one of those flying coffins.

This actually makes me want to kill them. They are everywhere on foot now. And they are taking my kills. Messing up my exploration (which I like to do methodically and slowly).

First chance I get, I am going to slay them.

The damn BoS are always just wrecking shit everywhere I go. I once talked to a random npc in power armor and died while in the conversation because one of the vertibirds blew up a car next to me.

This being my first game, I'm like 36 hours in now. I absolutely love it. Some annoyances here and there but overall I really like it.

You're in for the long haul bro. I'm 53 hours in and I haven't travelled any further south than South Boston and the Glowing Sea JUST for the main quest

I don't like that randoms eventually run around the map with missile launchers and fat men, save that mess for dungeon encounters.

I have been debating to myself who to go with for the past few days, but your post convinced me to go with the Railroad

Getting tier 2 idiot savant to perk on a main quest completion for +1300 XP... feels good man

That can actually happen?! I have it but have only gotten it for random smaller things. I actually save scrubbed (scrummed?) to see if it worked on main quests but no luck. Only tried like 20- times or so though. I couldn't find anything on google about it either.

side question can someone tell me how to tell how many hours I've been playing on PS4?

Same.

Question: if we start killing bos now, what happens? Do you become an enemy of the entire faction, or just the ones in that area?

I kinda wanna get started now...

I've been wondering if I can get into the Gunners' friendly side as well.
Little chance though, as I've shot down their grunts all this time.

Can people who have beaten the game make use of the spoiler thread? People are gonna be bailing out of the OT in droves thanks to people posting very late endgame plot twists, just because..

Not only that but terminals and locks can be picked/hacked again. Takes away the sense of progression. I don't mind enemies respawning but I don't like items in cabinets and stuff respawning.

Maybe the enemies were using that adjustable wrench and military grade duct tape and then you stole it so they had to go replace it?

Agreed. And/or make good use of spoiler blocks, please. ;)

how long did it take before your first settlement started getting more settlers? I've got plenty of food, water, power and defense, as well as the recruitment beacon, But I still don't have anyone new.

So is it just me, or does Curie have really bad pathing/follow AI after her quest. She always falls way behind, and is always hard to find when I need to trade stuff to her. At least compared to the other companions.

It slows down as you approach the maximum, which is based on your Charisma.

I noticed that too. she was the first companion that would completely disappear if I sprinted away at any point. I always figured that she was weak and getting downed a lot?

Just a PSA, it seems that special traders are bugged in the fact that they don't play nice with Sanctuary. Looked up people having problems with unique townies, but the constant with all of these characters is Sanctuary, the first time I chose to recruit one of these characters to Sanctuary is the only time I seriously started having these bugs though.

My Vauilt Tec rep is bugged in the castle. He doesn't restock. Tried moving him to a random other town, then moved him back and reassigned him, nothing. Still bugged. The only other special vendor I have is the clothes one, and she's not bugged, yet.

She seems to fall behind even if there's no combat at all

well if its one settlement you're referring to, I've noticed that freeing up other settlements usually brings in more people for your main settlement - this pertains to any other established settlements w/ beacons...oh yeah charisma plays a huge role also - getting that up will also do the trick

ah, I haven't even bothered with the other ones

Having some control over how each faction wraps up the game would help a lot. The endings felt more than a little hollow and impersonal.

Can you buy / find "skeletal" power armour frames?, I've got enough parts to build another couple of (for decoration only) power armours, but I assume I need to skeletal frame to put into the power armour cradle/frame and attach the parts too?

Pretty sure you can buy one from some guy in Diamond City (I think the one next to your house?)

For some reason the game's not letting me build a 2nd power armor station in Sanctuary despite having all the materials and perks. Wtf.

Yeah, at this point I really missed all the ways you could influence the ending in New Vegas.
No such luck here. There's no convincing sides to work together, no scaring them off without resorting to violence, nothing. Just lots and lots of death.

I had 9 luck (before item bonuses) and been testing this perk since the beginning of the game, investing in new ranks as soon as they opened up. It felt like a 10% chance to proc at most. It would probably appear once for every 50 raiders I've killed, but it's true that I was mostly 1-2 shotting them due to crit luck build + Righteous Authority combo. The perk itself has a chance to proc on each shot that doesn't kill the enemy afaik.

Stranger seems to appear in spurts, for me. I'll be playing two hours without him showing up and then he'll suddenly appear six times back-to-back, only to disappear again for another few hours. Really odd.

Few observations.
Mods are shared among all linked settlements. I have weapon mods in the Red Rocket but I can attach them via the weapon workbench in my Star Light Drive-In settlement..

Stored armor/weapon/cooking workbenches aren't shared across linked settlements. So if you have spare ones in a settlement you aren't going to bother with. Scrap em.

Materials are shared in BUILD mode only. You can't see pooled inventory in workbenches. So, if Red Rocket and Starlight Drive-In are linked and you have 50 Wood in Red Rocket and 100 in Starlight. You'll see 150.

I think most people knew this but it might help some.

Wait what? Mods are stored as part as your character's inventory, right? That you can use them in various settlements is merely because at that time you have them stored in your item inventory, not that they're "shared"... maybe I'm missing something.

Wait are you telling if you start doing the brotherhood quest line, it locks you out of the freedom trail ones ?..ummm fuck.

That's what I was unsure about personally as well, as soon as you get a quest that says

"Get help from Railroad"
"Get help from Minutemen"
"Get help from BoS"

You start biting your fingernails like "am I about to lock myself out of quests?"

Well, I'm still of the opinion that (BoS):

Declaring war on the BoS is really really not a good idea in the long run unless you're going to turn your organisation into an army and are prepared to engage in a long term war with zealots. The BoS pretty much specialises in armed conflict. It's their way of life. The Railroad messing with that shit is laughable.
