Fallout 4 sells 1.2 million copies on Steam in 24 hours

Lol why are people arguing about this?

It's a Bethesda game, you guys think Skyrim sold 9.4 million copies on PC on the first month?

I feel like this has been explained hundreds of times but people choose to ignore it. It's all about the tail for PC sales, especially for Bethesda titles.

If the modding scene becomes incredibly popular, this could surpass Skyrim.

It will take years, but it will happen.

I doubt it no PC game really has been bigger than consoles this gen (and the end of last), Only bigger over time due to steam sales but day 1 consoles will be bigger (though PC could beat Xbox 1 but doubt PS4).
Like others have said, Skyrim on PC has half of the sales. Thanks to early sales and the modding scene, I wouldn't be surprised if that ratio happens again.

GTAV would have sold better than it did if it was SteamWorks as well. I bought my copy on GMG because it was significantly cheaper than buying on Steam.

With that kind of marketing it's a no brainer. I mean I've seen large posters in Berlin Subway. Gaming is going mainstream rapidly. How many people watch blockbusters during the opening? If Jurassic World is of any indication, then about 7 000 000 people watched it during the opening in US only. As you see, sales could get much bigger in the coming 10 years, when gaming will reach the same mass culture status as movies, TV shows and books.

1. Publishers handling QA is true.

2. Find me posts of the jank being excused. I'm a regular in most cRPG threads. Obsidian doesn't get a "pass" on bugs, or bad gameplay. Neither do the Troika games from before Obsidian was a thing. Nobody will recommend Bloodlines or Alpha Protocol without a stern warning about what is shitty about those games.

1. I'm aware. That doesn't give reign to developers releasing titles with a plethora of game crashing bugs and stiff animations (not speaking of PoE here, moreso New Vegas/Alpha Protocol and Stick of Truth to a much lesser extent).

Of course, with presumably more resources, it doesn't excuse companies, such as Bethesda, of their prior (and present if Fallout 4 is as bad) engine quirks and in-game "glitch mania" either.

2. While I don't post in them much, I read them all the time and see a completely different picture. If their issues aren't being outright excused, they're politely ignored. Almost never have I seen a warning of those elements issued, it's mostly along the lines of "You have to play this game!!1! Now!" Which is really unfortunate in the terms of Bloodlines because I actually enjoy that title, but I hate the act of overselling so much. I'm on mobile, but I'll grab some links of exsmple posts later today if I remember.
