But neither would he have been hurt (well not killed anyway) if racism was around but guns werent so prevelant
If it was a white kid, nothing would have ever happened. It's racism, through and through.
Hell, it could have been a white bum walking down the street drunk off his ass yelling in his underwear waving a stick and I almost guarantee nobody would have gotten shot.
It just comes down to the "captain's" preconceptions and those influenced how he interacted with the kid. I hope he goes to jail and becomes someone's "princess".
But neither would he have been hurt (well not killed anyway) if racism was around but guns werent so prevelant
Could have easily been tazed and died from the impact of his head on the concrete. Cut the shit will you?
GUYS, OBVIOUSLY THIS THREAD IS RACIST BECAUSE IF AN INNOCENT YOUNG WHITE BOY WAS KILLED NEEDLESSLY BY BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHMEN WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CARRYING WEAPONS IN THE FIRST PLACE IN AN UPSCALE GATED BLACK COMMUNITY THIS THREAD WOULD ONLY BE 3 POSTS LONG
REVERSE RACISM, BROS
now, who can find the error in the above statement?
Highly less likely to be dead though so you cut the shit
So this whole situation would have been fine without guns?
Are you serious?
"upscale gated black community"?
wait people think this thread is about guns and not racism?
haah waaw
Only frankie dude.
sad but not surprising. Too many gun toting lunatics just waiting for any excuse to use it.
How is it ever possible to shoot someone and not be arrested, if only so the cops can take you to the station for questioning until the whole story is figured out?
I'm not the one turning a thread about the racist implications of this guy's deeds into yet another thread about gun control in America.
I'm sure trayvon martin would probably think so
i guess not.
When a thread is about someone being shot it'd be insulting to the dead guy for it not to be mentioned
Well - I'm pretty sure the recording will be very interesting and will obviously shed light on what happened.
KHarvey - I'm guessing when you say "most rather unlikely", you are either understating, or you have a scenario that is likely?
If what we're reading in the story is true, then he called 911, and if protocol was followed, he was told to wait for police to arrive. What would be the likely scenario that would take place that would cause Zimmerman to disobey the instructions of the dispatcher, confront an unarmed kid and have the situation escalate to such a point that he shot him in the chest?

You obviously don't know what it's like to be suspected of a crime because of your race. That's never fine.
he called the police first so...
...why didn't he stay in the car? doesn't the dispatcher tell you to stay where you are until police arrive? come on, ffs
What was reported to 911? How did the conversation go? Was he told not to approach? What was he told? Why did he approach?
Your assumption seems to be that this was a clearly unlawful shooting. Again I'll repeat that the police ignoring a clearly unlawful shooting is as unlikely as any scenario I could think up for why this kid ended up dead. We have one side of the story, and even they are clearly ignorant about some details and, by virtue of their request for the 911 call, knowingly so.

They don't have to arrest you for you to submit to questioning. Guy could have gone down to the station voluntarily and then went home. We don't know.
Also, guns suck and I don't see why this thread can't also be about how guns suck. You can't force people to not be racist but you can force them not to carry a gun.
"upscale gated black community"?
Because some of us don't want to see another gun control debate when the real issue here is one of racial injustice.
I laughed. Maybe not in Florida, but Atlanta has some nice communities.
this concept of the police possibly ignoring a clearly unlawful shooting being out of the realm of possibility to you is very puzzling.
Because some of us don't want to see another gun control debate when the real issue here is one of racial injustice.
Actually we do know this:They don't have to arrest you for you to submit to questioning. Guy could have gone down to the station voluntarily and then went home. We don't know.
Also, guns suck and I don't see why this thread can't also be about how guns suck. You can't force people to not be racist but you can force them not to carry a gun.
Zimmerman was taken into custody and continues to cooperate with investigators, police said.
While the racial injustice is terrible a young man has still been shot with a gun, the bullet from that gun killed him
Quoting the relevant part in case people don't follow your link:You go ahead and point out for me where I suggest any such thing. I very explicitly said the exact opposite previously.
Just to illustrate my point, here is a news article about the incident:
http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/new...n-shot-and-killed-in-neighborhood-altercation
We don't have enough information.
A man who witnessed part of the altercation contacted authorities.
"The guy on the bottom, who had a red sweater on, was yelling to me, 'Help! Help!' and I told him to stop, and I was calling 911," said the witness, who asked to be identified only by his first name, John.
John said he locked his patio door, ran upstairs and heard at least one gun shot.
"And then, when I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on the top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point."
So guns are the real racists.
Also, guns suck and I don't see why this thread can't also be about how guns suck. You can't force people to not be racist but you can force them not to carry a gun.
I happen to agree this isn't about race. It's about lunatics being allowed to carry a gun on the street. But I happen to live in the inner city and have daily exposure to gun violence so I'm very anti-gun.
It be insulting to the dead guy to try and shoehorn it in to a topic where its not even relevant. When a thread is about someone being shot it'd be insulting to the dead guy for it not to be mentioned
