Famitsu Half-Year Sales Chart 2007 (1/1 - 7/1)

39. (Wii, Nintendo) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 220,800

GET BIGGER DAMN YOU

When's the second Layton game come out? I'm so happy it's doing so well for Level-5, it looks like such a charming game. Can't wait 'til it comes out here later this year.

That's what she said.

I'd much rather see Phantom Hourglass hit a milestone (say, a million) than Twilight Princess.
Id like to see both :D
Realistically though, I think TP has a shot at an eventual 750k at least if the Wii userbase grows large enough like it seems it will.

Some LTDs:

Code:
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl 5,196,558
Animal Crossing 4,185,178
English Training 1,868,810
Mega Man Star Force 531,867
Kirby 994,703
Wario Ware Smooth Moves 462,634
Kanken DS 451,417
Zelda Wii 506,074
Oshare Majo Love & Berry	978,611
Jump Ultimate Stars 743,864
Nintendogs 1,587,007
Ryu Ga Gotoku (The Best)	450,462
Tetris 1,152,525
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops	357,161
Monster Hunter Portable (Best)	290,628
Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 572,917
Dawn of Mana 334,314
Cooking Navi 809,528
Pokemon Emerald 1,947,383

Wow, Ryu ga Gotoku 2 did almost 600K? Awesome.

And Love & Berry is almost at a million!? I know people thought it was going to be big, but I didn't realize it had legs quite like that. Impressive.

I think a lot of these games don't seem like huge hits, but were for their developers.

I think any 3rd party game that sells more than 300,000 copies on a Nintendo platform should be considered a hit.

Even on PlayStation 2 you don't often see these low budget games sell that much.

I've seen it before, what is "The Best" versions of games? Is that like the Japanese version of the Player's Choice/Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits program they have here in North America?

Yeah, it's not just that it's on a Nintendo platform, but it's also what type of game and what costs went into it. It's great that we're seeing Harvest Moon, adventure games, puzzlers, etc. selling that well instead of the normal big budget RPGs and action games.

Monster Hunter Portable + PSP The Best: 959,592

I'm much more pleased by: Persona 3 + P3 Fes = 369,750.

Sure, sure, but thankfully RPGs continue to sell just fine. In 2006's half-year chart, there were 29 RPGs. This year? 23. Negligible drop. And I'm particularly pleased to see nice sales for P3 Fes, Etrian Odyssey, Odin Sphere, Super Paper Mario, and Fire Emblem.

The Last time Fire Emblem Wii show up on Famitsu Top 30 is on March 11, 2007, and the sales # is : 104,428

This means that during the period between march 12, 2007 and July 1, 2007 (roughly 15-16 weeks), it managed to sell additional 48,969 unit, or 3K /week on average. I think it might manage to reach 180K LTD, but not 200K.

Since FE:POR (GC) only managed 156,413 in 250 days, the fact that FE:GOD (Wii) managed to get 153,397 in 130 days (half of FE:POR) is very encouraging.

Go FE.

For Nintendogs.
The latest data is on Jan 7, 2007, and the sales is 1,434,131. In six months, it managed to sell 179,119, or 6.8 K / week, which is very impressive.

10. (DS, Level 5) Professor Layton and the Mysterious Town - 586,676
:lol That's probably more than Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle and Rogue Galaxy put together. Anyone have the actual figures?

Dark Cloud : ??
Dark Chronicle : 230,093 (Dengeki, not Famitsu)
Rogues Galaxy : 299,310, as of 25-Dec-05 (350,490 according to Moor-Angol)

Since I don't have Dark Cloud, is it possible it is released under different name ? It is also possible that it is released on the time period I do not update my database, or that it sales didn't reach 100K.

Edit : Since ethelred said that Dark Cloud most probably don't reach 100K LTD (based on the 1st Week sales data), then right now Layton = Rogues Galaxy + Dark Chronicle + Dark Cloud. By Dec 2007, Layton will be > Rogues Galaxy + Dark Chronicle + Dark Cloud.

Anyone have the famitsu figure of Dark Chronicle ?

hay guys there is some illegal Dragon Quest 9 scans in the Halo 3 EGM thread... but you need to speak japanese to unlock the scans...

there aren't any scans... but we need someone to translate some new Halo 3 scans please...

They didn't. 1st week: ダーククラウド- 19,615

So yeah, basically the very first game in the Layton trilogy has outsold Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, and Rogue Galaxy... and heck, toss in Jeanne d'Arc, too, just for the hell of it. I'd like to see what'd happen if L5 made an RPG on the DS (not counting DQIX, natch).

2. PlayStation 2 - 19
3. Wii - 12

Thats very good considering the install base of the two systems. Surprised me really.

What is Jeanne d'Arc latest LTD ? The latest one I have is quite old, 56,852 up to Dec 3, 2006.

YAY! Zelda passed half million...

Etrian Odyssey for DS sold more then Xenosaga ep.II for PS2, so don't worry :lol

WTH, are you joking?!?!? (Not that I'm saying EO is bad by any means, it's just..... well... you know....)

So Wii has sold more software in 2007 than PS2, even though there's like at least 40 million fewer systems in Japanese homes? Pretty crazy.

PS2 Japan ltd is about 25 million, not 43 million...

It's LTD as of the end of 2005 was 2,580,513.

So it's LTD minus 2006 is 2,682,946.

The latest LTD I've got without the new numbers is 2,617,986. But I don't know from when this number is.

Edit: On September 30th the LTD was at 2,660,977.

It's from the March 2006 Japan Monthly Chart.

So 102,433 + 2,617,986 = 2,720,419. Missing April - December 2006.

Top 5 Systems by Total Software LTD

1. Nintendo DS - 16,135,686
2. Wii - 3,809,378
3. PlayStation 2 - 3,719,378
4. PlayStation Portable - 2,254,957
5. PlayStation 3 - 366,728

So, Nintendo sold about 3 times more consoles than Sony. But Games on the Wii sell about 10 times better then on the PS3.

Sony needs to have some appealing software, it seems.

ToD2 did so similar to ToP that it is really creepy. Sad ToW didn't make it (came late in december and some of its sales were on 2007) so the LTD is still <200k but we got random 2ch data saying it was on ToE levels 240-250k, well :/

Ryu ga Gotoku near 800k, sequel near 600k...better treat well the series Sega, don't let it go to dust (looking at VF5).

I still want 2006 Top 500 :(

What?

Thats a stupid argument even if the figures were accurate. The PS3 has 1/5th of the install base of the N64 and yet has sold more software. Consoles sold 5 years ago can't be expected to be as active as a console bought 5 months ago.

And the figure is off by about 20 million too.

Twilight Princess total sales > Smooth Moves total sales.

Nice.

I thought in Japan it might have been the other way around?

Also is 100k+ good or bad for a Fire Emblem game?

37. (DS, IE Institute) Tokoton Kanji Brain - 249,758 / 470.942

45. (DS, Nintendo) Cooking Recipe 1000 DS - 192,114 / 386.912

64. (Wii, Pokemon) Pokemon Battle Revolution - 147,679 / 278.652

87. (DS, Nintendo) Magic Taizen - 98,718 / 262.464

sorry for short support, but i am at work...

Well, PS2 (sold 5 years ago) is more active than PS3 (bought 5 months ago). What do you think of this fact ? Not to mention that PS2 is 10 times more active than PS3 ?

Awesome. The half-year / yearly charts really provide some of the great data that I wish we got every week. I'll have to update all my charts for these new figures.

10x the software sold on the PS2 with a install base 20x the size indicates less active doesn't it? That implies a PS2 owner bought 50% of the games a PS3 owner bought.
