Finally got something out of Famitsu but it seems to be a combo for two weeks

Ignore the cumulative data points for 2022 where the x-axis is a date cause its wrong.

In terms of numbers for the two weeks:
NSW - 393.980
PS5 - 72.064
XBS - 2.159
3DS - 670
PS4 - 68

Sony usual Christmas supply in Japan.
That is why you could not find it outside in that period.

Here’s hoping Sony keeps the stock above 30k……. I doubt it but maybe it’s getting better.

Finally the PS5 had 2 decent weeks after... a year lol.

But yeah, lets hope that Sony stops ignoring Japan.

Switch basically ended up being flat YOY.All in all, an excellent result.

And the top 10 is all Nintendo, as we expected.Even with the decent week that the PS5 had, there are still no Sony software to be seen, which only continues to point how abysmal the PS5 future seems in japan.

Decent numbers for the PS5. Insane numbers, as expected, for the Switch.

2022 has to be the year we see a drop off in Switch sales. They can't keep this up.

2022 will have better Switch games than 2021; Arceus, Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, Mario Rabbids 2, Triangle Strategy, Kirby Forgotten Land.....and if BOTW2 comes out ....then 2022 will see much higher sale number

Playstation is dead in Japan, Jim Ryan will make sure of that

thanks Jimbo!!

Software sales will go up i think hardware will continue to see a drop off.

I don’t think it could progressively sell more at this point unless people are upgrading to OLEDS

Seems Sony is also sending the hard copies of their software sonewhere else to fight off the Xbox threat.

Pokemon and maybe Splatoon 3 will move consoles. Not sure about the rest in Japan.

2021 had Monster Hunter which is a big console seller in Japan.

Maybe we don't see a huge drop off in 2022, but we're on the downward trend now. 2022 won't top 2021 in sales.

if BOTW2 comes out in 2022 you never know......

in other news

Switch may surpass lifetime PS2 sales in Japan next week. If not, then definitely the week after.

Switch: 23.11 million
PS2: 23.18 million

Switch has a real shot at being number one.

The best selling console is the DS right?Do you know how much it sold there?

Mario Party Allstars doing well. Hopefully opens the door for DLC.

Software sales will be great, but hardware will have too many challenges to maintain the momentum it's had since launch. Nintendo said there will be a production shortage, they're running out of core gamers to sell to, and they're highly unlikely to reduce cost (aka reduce profit) to squeeze out extra unit sales.

core gamers would want to upgrade to OLED, as you can see OLED number is nowhere near the original

Hardware Sales (followed by lifetime sales)

  1. Switch OLED Model – 190,111 (875,765)
  2. Switch – 116,919 (17,797,974)
  3. Switch Lite – 86,950 (4,451,688)
  4. PlayStation 5 – 62,764 (1,069,179)
  5. PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 9,300 (200,833)
  6. Xbox Series S – 1,688 (55,520)
  7. Xbox Series X – 471 (73,661)
  8. New 2DS LL (including 2DS) – 670 (1,179,616)
  9. PlayStation 4 – 68 (7,819,245)

Would like to see the Switch worldwide totals after the holiday period, must be on 100 million by now.

DenchDeckard

Moderated wildly
It’s crazy how many digital edition ps5 Sony actually ship. It’s not even 1/4 and more like 1/8 they must be losing money on the DE like crazy.

Definitely over 100M by now

here's as of Sept-30......sale number this past quarter, which ended Dec-31, should be around 11M, and that makes it 104 millions

Switch should beat PS4 by Oct-2022

Mario Party Superstars selling 206,000 copies in that week or so 👍 👍

Such a fun game. First game since Halo 2, Halo 3 that makes me daydream of strategies to test out, gameplans to stick to and see how they work

Yes pretty much a certainty, would like to get the exact figure confirmed.

Switch is an absolute beast!!....actually selling more than 2020

Hardware sales are now in decline, but 2022 could be the software peak depending on what other games get announce.

So far this year looks stronger than the last one in terms of first party, but weaker in terms of third party. The February Direct will be very revealing.

Why is that crazy? There was no supply. You think the PS4 would have outsold the Xbox if MS could have gotten more supply into Japan?

But that is the reality. Just like we won’t know how much the playstation 5 could sell if they could send more units.

Yes, that is the reality. I'm just questioning why you would think it was crazy. If the PS4 outsold the Xbox Series in the US or in the UK then yeah, I would agree, that's crazy. Xbox has almost no presence in Japan so I would not call it crazy that it's outsold by the PS4.

So why are you arguing with me? That user mentioned that it outsold the ps4 and I added to the fact that it actually didn’t. It’s information

This is a sales thread

Oh are people really now pretending that they didn’t know the xbox has never sold well in Japan? Really? 😂

2000 is about 10x more than anyone expected it to sell. They regularly have weeks where xbox doesn’t even hit double figures. Like legit they sell 8 consoles in the country in a week.

Anything > 0 is a win for xbox in Japan.

Switch still in BEAST mode. That PS2 record is falling almost certainly barring something crazy happening.
