Famitsu thread of Persona 4 raditude

Guled said:
I never played a persona game before, but since gaf never let me down before (except for contra, but God Hand and Zack and Wiki made up for it) I will get FES day one :D

Whoa whoa, which Contra? You cant be talking about Contra IV.

Ptf. They should have finished it by now. TWICE

I think it's a little early for another Persona game but it makes sense to capitalize on the P3 success.

You gotta remember that game won't be out for many, many months. I absolutely cannot foresee a US launch before October.

Not too long for Japan.

I was talking more in the sense of there being another game in the same series after the previous so soon. I was expecting something else MegaTen to be next.

And I retract my previous statement about finishing the game twice only for Pal regions. The rest of you though, Ptf.

this is one of the few times I wouldn't have minded a couple of "lol wii gets another ps2 port" comments.

oh well, time to break out the ps2 for there is no way i will miss this game.

So I go to start a new game of Nocturne and I get... Disc Read Error. Tried a bunch of games, and the only one that works so far is Fatal Frame. Sprayed it with air duster and still nothing.
damn dude sorry to hear that. imo it's worth getting a 60 or 80gb ps3, i just played nocturne on it and it looks great! same with dds, ff xii and guilty gear just to name few that benefited from being played on a ps3

So they do look better on PS3, and not just from being on a high-res TV?

Okay, instead of just spraying the through the holes and vacuuming, I actually shoved the duster nozle through the holes and supposedly aimed right at the lens. It works now, but I'll still have to consider the future. This probably won't last long.

Do any of the bundles come with a corded controller? I hate hate hate wireless.

The MGS4 bundle is a ripoff, because I wouldn't want to buy that game for $60 and have no interest in a dual shock controller, and a slimline model is kind of useless because I know I'll eventually be getting (backwards) compatible PS3; I'd rather spend that $130 towards getting a new system. I checked the backwards compatibility list, and it looks mostly complete.

Wha? You hate ease of use and not having to roll your controllers up? You hate being able to sit ANYWHERE and not have to be right next to the TV?

You're possibly the only person in the world that hates wireless.

Yes, ps3 upscales them. It's not just the TV.

There is no corded controller. You could leave the charge-link cable plugged in I guess, if that's your sort of thing.

You can still find the occasional 60 or 80GB if you look hard enough. Though most of the ones being made, I believe, are going to the MGS4 80GB bundles.

I hate wireless stuff because of battery issues. The PS3 controllers have a built in chargeable, though? That is very nice.

I agree with anyone who said the part AI needs improvement. It wasn't really apparent to me until I got to the last major battle. :lol

HAY GUYZ, this guy has like 20 billion different HP bars. Just cuz he's low on HP with this tarot card doesn't mean you guys can't forget about healing each other, especially the ones are HEAL/SUPPORT >:(

Atlus' announcement for the week was some XBOX 360 Strategy/RPG that nobody cares about.

Boo-urns.

EDIT: Actually, nix that. The email was just the webpage going alive. Apparently Operation Darkness was already announced, so this isn't what Atlus was referring to in last week's general newsletter.

You can tell how much nobody cared about that game because they actually announced it like three months ago. :lol

Persona 3 came out in Japan in July 2006, I was on my honeymoon over there the day it was released. I'd say TWO YEARS was plenty of time for people to play it before Persona 4 comes out.

I like wires because I stick the cord between my toes. Keeps my feet from falling asleep.

So, Etrian Odyssey 2 was announced, not Persona 4. =(

I'm worried how similar Persona 4 will be to Persona 3. The presence of the tarot cards makes it likely the game will once again be an allegory of The Journey of Life represented in a tarot deck, but will it have the same basic ending? There's footage in the trailer that looks very much like the scene at the top of Tartarus with MC floating into the air.

Oh, and how are people getting sound clips to play at the main webpage? I'm getting nothing, and the links earlier are broken.

I'm actually wondering if Atlus will even localize P4 for the American audience, seeing that PS3/360/Wii are in full swing now. Does it make financial sense to localize a game with this much amount of text and voice acting for what will be a last-gen console? Personally I live in Japan right now so I'll pick up the import no problem, but I bought both JPN vanilla and FES and the US version because I heard really good things about the translation and I wanted to support Atlus USA, so I'm really hoping they do bring the game over to the US again.

*looks at the continues sales of the PS2 in the NA*

Yes, I would say it makes financial sense.

I don't follow sales threads at all (they make my head hurt, seriously:lol) so good to hear that there's a good chance the game will get localized. I'm hoping I don't have to triple dip again thoug. :P

I click on them, they go fuzzy and disappear, but no sound is made. I've tried it in two different web browsers. Perhaps I am missing a plugin.

As for localization odds... there is little chance that it won't get released in the US. As far as I know, Persona 3 was the most successful US SMT release, both in sales and reviews, and the active user base for Playstation 2 is still huge. Combine that with most PS3s being backwards compatible, and the this too is likely to be a huge success. However, the longer Atlus USA waits, the less likely it is to succeed. They'd be stupid to miss out on the PS2's last Christmas.

I usually don't care either, but I glance at them when they hit. PS2, the system, is still selling quite a bit. Plus, I'm sure Persona 3 did well for Atlus. Well enough to put P4 out here anyways.

Then again, since working PT at Gamestop for fun, I've noticed a ton of customers still buying Xbox/PS2/GC games including new PS2 games (including me =) ). So, I'd say it's still a good idea to bring it over. No question.

You know you're gonna triple dip again Reno. Don't deny it!

I refuse to quad-dip for P3! Refuse! But it's oh so tempting:lol I kinda hope that they don't release an expansion for P4 but odds are they will, and I'll triple dip >_<

If Arcana Heart can arrive in North America, any game has the chance to do so.

Quick comment about P2 EP as well: Would it have killed them to have the people say the names of the Persona rather than just shouting "PERSONA!"?

Maybe im just spoiled by P3, but it's still disc media, so im sure they had room.
