Why do people say fanservice if they mean sexy, erotic etc.?
A Link costume for Skyrim on Switch would be fanservice for example.

You are 100% correct. I wouldn't mind Eva being sexy/seductive if there was at least some class to it, some subtlety, but the way she's designed, she'd only seduce a brain-dead teenager.
Guess that says a lot about Snake that the super-soldier is so easily swindled LOL. Stupid fucking Kojima.
It's less about being flawless human beings and more an example of how bad sex positivity is in gaming when people without a hint of irony prop up Zero as an example, or hell even Bayonetta who's still objectified even when injured.

Fanservice can be used as a definition for both. In this case, the OP means the former.
The comment edges it out by a narrow margin.I don't know what is more cringey, her quote, or your comment.
It can't. People are just idiots.
The only one GAF has ever official sanctioned:

It still bums me out that this isn't his default costume.
IIRC she "threw away her femininity" because of her maiming and subsequent thirst for revenge. She is the definition of DGAF.

When Ann goes Phantom Thief in Persona 5, she's involuntarily dressed in a sex'd up costume you'd see out of a female villain in an anime because those were characters she grew up admiring for their determination.
It's still kinda a garbage excuse that sounds like she was designed before she was written, but hey, what can ya do?
How do you feel about current Baiken?
Ann is weird. Her design works greatly as a femme fatale alongside all the other "delinquent" outfits - it works with the theme/aesthetic - but she's the only character in the game to voice displeasure during several optional convos about the outfit despite it, like every other outfit, being conjured from her mental image of a "rebel". Everyone except her likes their own outfit and even Futaba (I think) admits she wants an outfit like Ann's. Thats a bit of an egregious case of the writing of P5 often feeling at odds with itself. It doesn't help that based on her Confidant it doesn't feel like they were sure about what they wanted to do with her character.

HAH! What a lark.
The things I have a problem with are intrinsically sexist. Sexuality, on the other hand, I would be quite happy to see more of, when it is displayed in a positive and not obnoxiously sexist light.
The fact that you conflate sexism and sexuality alone says alot about the lens you're viewing this thread in. I suggest you learn to differentiate the two if you're going to participate in the conversation, because the mere notion of "fanservice" being specific to heterosexual men alone paints this conversation in that kind of color.
Whatever floats your boat.
It's always justifiable and always for good reason, whether it's story wise, character wise or just plain fucking sales wise. It's almost never justified and never for a good reason. Morrigan is the only one I can honestly accept.

But no one will force you or anyone else to accept them![]()
Bringing down an entire warship of armed military men with just a wink and a smile sounds awful?
Hancock is pretty much Bayonetta, only without the sadistic torture kills. She's fully confident in her appearance, and uses it as a literal weapon.
Sounds awesome and empowering to me, but to each their own.

This character from Xenoblade Chronicles X. Her design is cool, and she's a major refernce to a certain Xenosaga character. Spoilers if you don't want to know what she looks like.
I'm sorry but every fanservice design is justifiable in my eyes![]()
Ha. Pretty much. Games are more fun with sexy girls![]()
Lulu is traveling the world by foot, lives in a tropical climate, wears a dress made out of belts and you think her costume is justifiable?
GAF, come get your boy Soldier.

So, do you not understand how that can be harmful, or do you just not care?

You can't spoiler images on mobile. They just show up.
Perhaps just have a link to the picture with a warning before it since that is a very big spoiler.

It's easy to say "I'd be totally fine with all male characters being sexualized!" knowing it will never happen, lol.
Right? There's 0 chance it'll happen that way.
Mobius Final Fantasy had the main character in a weird bathing suit/armor getup you'd usually see on a female character, but that got changed to something much more conservative in part because they saw how much people joked and complained about it.
Meanwhile FF15's heads were apparently baffled that players said they liked and wanted strong female characters but were complaining that Cindy is dressed the way she is. Cue the Hark A Vagrant comic on strong female characters.
I'd love some manservice, but it ain't working out that way.
