It's not unexpected if you check out the developer and the previous game in the series.

Man I would love to see Shin'en taking a stab at a 360° shooter (Descent/Forsaken). I'm sure they could pull off a beautiful looking {Descent clone} for Wii U.. I've been itching to play one of those. I don't know...they seem like a perfect fit for that genre
PLEASE I beg of a mod to change the thread title and add "Wii U Exclusive" Cant even enjoy the damn thread.
It looks closer to Wipeout design wise than the first one, too bad bad the duality system is back :/
Keep things locked to 720p. That's the secretLooks great. Wii U secret sauce unlocked!
About that.. we will have to wait and see.
As for the name, should call it F-Neo Racing.
Functionality with Captain Falcon Amiibo. Unlocks 'Blue Falcon'

Do we know if this is going to have off tv play?
It absolutely should. The timing is right.Have to think this gets a spot during Nintendo's indie reel at E3, right?

The screenshots are a tease to raise interest again. E3 will be the sell.
I mean, I don't see why not.
Online is planned. "Focus is on single- and local multiplayer. Online is planned. No final decisions made yet" Shinen on twitter. The only thing I want to know about this game(besides whether or not is uses tessellation) is does it have online play.

That, and:Nothing official yet, but knowing Shin'en's understanding of their Wii U fanbase - and going by their 2 Wii U games out already - I would wager that the support will be there.
I think the best way to utilize the GamePad is to think first about the benefits for the game. How can it make the experience better? Or is it just a gimmick? That really depends on your game. At least every game should implement Off-TV play, because its simply awesome to play the Wii U in your bed
We already finished all the complex tasks for the game. Now we concentrate on the content side, gameplay and some needed CPU optimizations to get everything steady at 60fps. The game is already very good playable and the feeling for speed and immersion is even beyond what we had in mind when we started.
It was really a very tough development, I would even say it was the most challenging project we ever did. Now we are finally at the point where everything melts together into that fabulous future racing we imagined at the start. We dont pressure ourselves with deadlines, we simply dont know yet when we are done but the last months were extremely productive and the end of development is clearly in sight.
when are they really gonna post gameplay pics or videos of this, who knows how much editing these images have, we know it's not 1080p, and th last images they showed at 720p had plenty of jaggies, all of a sudden, it's 1080p/ and jaggie free.

The original was locked to motion steering? Are you sure? Because the demo is playable with the CCP.Yes! I've been waiting for this. I wonder if this one is going to be locked to motion steering like the original F.A.S.T. Racing.

From the NintendoLife link:
- It'll run at 60fps (frames per second) and 720p
- It'll support 1-4 local multiplayer
- Online racing and online rankings will be included
- The first footage will be shown in June.
Bravo, you hit the true problem the original one for Wii had.I just hope it lives up to the potential that FAST on Wii showed, but didn't reach. That game felt more like a solid proof of concept, but not an actual great game.
The track designs were decent, not great. It felt like the way to play the game was to treat every race like a time trial and make an optimal line to get the orbs, so the duality mechanic ultimately detracted from the game since collecting those became the focus of the race. And with better standard controller options (gamepad/pro) hopefully they add some sort of drifting/air brakes instead of just having analog stick turning alone. That bothered me more than it should have. And of course, a better sense of speed, FAST really only felt "fast" during the boost sections you use orbs on.
