FAST Racing Neo - ingame screenshots (Wii U)

It looks pretty cool, a vast upgrade over the Wii game. Can't wait to see it in motion. I just hope the gameplay sees a similar upgrade as the graphics.

Gonna wait for the Splorgenborg port anyway.

Seems like they've been teasing this game forever now. I only vaguely remember the Wii game, but I do remember that I enjoyed it. Hopefully, they'll show video during E3. It'd be nice if it were in the Digital Event. These guys really put effort into working with Nintendo consoles and making their games look their best. I respect that.

It's really interesting Shinen went with such detailed environments given the size of their team and how great the original looked despite a much simpler art design. It really feels like they didn't need go all out to make a great sequel but here we are. These guys love to show off their ambitious nature. I loved the first one and will be there day 1 for Neo.

I still wonder if it's possible Shinen can work out something and get some FZero Easter eggs in the game. It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see Nintendo highlight the game at E3.

Your hate for Nintendo is rather transparent.

Who said I'm trying to hide it?

I don't see what's so wrong with my post except for possibly port begging. I don't like Nintendo, hence I don't own their consoles, hence it's a shame when one interesting game comes along and isn't available on the others?

Hence it's fucking stupid that you're shitting up a thread about a Wii U exclusive game, from a studio that's been essentially Nintendo exclusive since inception.

I didn't know anything about the studio? It looked like a Wipeout game so I thought it'd make sense to be a multiplatform.

I also didn't know that asking a question and saying that the answer was a shame was "shitting up" a thread.

If this was the other way around youd be banned by now...

Let's drop that particular line of conversation, better left for PMs if you have more to say to each other on the subject?

ON TOPIC

I'm really hoping the final game has this level of IQ. Part of me is saying it isn't possible, the other part is saying "...but Shin'en"

Looks great so far, Shinen does great technical work. Hope to see a trailer soon. Hoping for tight controls.

What a shame that yet another Nintendo exclusive thread gets tons of port-begging. Seriously it's out of control.

What a shame that Nintendo gets good looking exclusive games! How dare they! They don't deserve them!

It would be reasonable to speculate if the port showed any ROI. Unfortunately, we haven't heard a word from them on that front. You have to remember that (a.) Shinen is a small group, and (b.) they code for the hardware hard.

That's actually a really good point. They didn't mention anything about sales since Nano Assault launched on PS4, and the launch didn't exactly gain much attention.

They may very well be best served sticking with Nintendo only.

Sales numbers dont have anything to do with port begging, its the principle of the thing. it was talked extensively in the Dragon Quest 8 and Monster Hunter thread how while theres definitely a section of Nintendo fans feel the whole "Us against the world, we got an exclusive and we deserve it" mentality theres a mentality with a section of Sony fans where "We deserve every game ever. Anything less is an aberration of the game industry." You see DQHeroes as a Sony exclusive and silence. You get DQ8 remake as a Nintendo exclusive and you've got Port Begging bans littering the first 3 pages alone. Sony fans jeered at Xbox fans when Rise of the Tomb Raiders "exclusivity" was realized to be a timed exclusive. But then on the other end of the spectrum games like Persona 5 are just "expected" to be exclusive to Sony so theres no crowd of opposers.

This... I disagree with. Come on man, there's port begging of different intensity for practically every exclusive. You have crazy fanboys everywhere, but as soon as you start with "Sony fans are more X" or "Nintendo fans are more Y" any objectivity goes out the window. I know you talked about sections of fans, but I could easily find reverse examples for every scenario you presented. Not that I'm saying such things don't happen, they surely do, just that there are thousands of voices on the internet so you will find every opinion under the sun.

Also, sadly, I do agree this thread has been thoroughly derailed with port talk now so I'm sorry for contributing to that.

Back on topic, I never played the original but I have an anti-gravity racer void in my soul that needs to be filled and think this looks fantastic. Can someone explain the switching mechanic that people seem divided over? And the original controlled more like Wipeout than F-Zero? Any other futuristic racers to compare it to (Extreme G etc)? I guess I could just buy the original lol.

Actually 1080p? Pretty impressive. Shin'en always delivers.
Very curious to see how fast it goes. Their Wii game looked cool, but also a bit ...slow. Compared to F-Zero at least. But I didn't play it myself so I can't really judge it. Keeping an eye out for this though.

Looks very good, but this is 1080p with a level of AA that I doubt we'll be seeing in actual game.

Their latest game was ported to PS4 after a while.

Dude, EVERYTHING is slow compared to f zero gx.

I beat that game for the final time years ago, and reality still seems like its in slow motion to me.

hope that UI is just early stuff, its looking rather bland and it really doesn't match up with the look of the game itself

Back on topic, looks like Shinen is going to make the soundtrack available somehow, and they're promising that we'll see more on this game around E3.

I just hope it lives up to the potential that FAST on Wii showed, but didn't reach. That game felt more like a solid proof of concept, but not an actual great game.

The track designs were decent, not great. It felt like the way to play the game was to treat every race like a time trial and make an optimal line to get the orbs, so the duality mechanic ultimately detracted from the game since collecting those became the focus of the race. And with better standard controller options (gamepad/pro) hopefully they add some sort of drifting/air brakes instead of just having analog stick turning alone. That bothered me more than it should have. And of course, a better sense of speed, FAST really only felt "fast" during the boost sections you use orbs on.

Perhaps you should be banned.

This to me is something Shin'En needs to get their game one. They usually test the waters for certain mechanics that work and those that don't. They did it with Iridion 3D -> Iridion II & Nanostray - > Nanostray 2, refining whatever mechanic they implemented from the previous installment.

Shinen are always great technically. they did wonders with Wii hardware . unfortunately there games are not that good

Can't wait for this. Futuristic racers are few and far between and I'll do anything to support Shinen.

Really hope this comes out this year, although I doubt it.

I have a feeling Nintendo will give this a presence at e3. It's easily the best looking 3rd party exclusive on the system yet to come out.

Tried the demo of the original Wii game, but something was a little off. Sure they did wonders on the system considering the size of the game data (it was tiny) and the actual system they were working on, but I wasn't really sold on the gameplay. Hopefully this is much better, because I haven't bought a great futuristic racer since F-Zero GX.

Not that good? I heard plenty of good things about Jett Rocket on Wii. For a game in a dead genre anyway. Then there are the shooters like Nanostray on DS and Nano Assault Neo that are absolutely legit.

My favorite is Art of Balance, particularly on Wii U.

Their track record is solid.

To be fair, I genuinely thought that as well since the images I took from their website were labeled "ingame".

Maybe it's better to edit the OP clearly specifying the game actually runs @720p.

Or these screenshots are just 720p upscaled in 1080p with some sort of AA, this is why they are in 1080p?

I think "solid" is probably the perfect word - they don't really do anything too novel or interesting with their games, but they're generally mechanically sound and technically impressive.

I am just moderately tech-savvy with this kind of stuff, but it seems like many things are too detailed for those screenshots to be upscaled.

But as said, I could very well be wrong about this. :-\

Man I would love to see Shin'en taking a stab at a 360° shooter (Descent/Forsaken). I'm sure they could pull off a beautiful looking {Descent clone} for Wii U.. I've been itching to play one of those. I don't know...they seem like a perfect fit for that genre
