Fastest you've completely abandoned a $60 game after purchase

I bought Dishonored 2 yesterday. I never played Dishonored 1 but I thought it looked cool as hell from the trailer and I do like stealth games. The story and world seem cool as well. It started of really strong with the intro sequence but then the game handled me the reins. I did not find the stealth play enjoyable at all and the control feels off. The world building primarily consists of books, which are everywhere, with an unreadable font on my TV. So after about an hour of gameplay I’ve uninstalled it. Might return to it again someday, but if so it will probably be on youtube for the story.

So, what games have you abandoned the quickest after paying $60 for it?

This going to sound sick but I completed Resident Evil 2 on day of release and then did a second play through the following day. Haven't played it since.

I bought both of the 343 Halo games and haven't played either of them for more than 5 minutes.-.- I mean, it's Halo, right? I'll play them maybe someday!

No mans sky lolol.

But seriously try and see if you can check the first dishonored out first. I hated that game too at first and slowly trudged on and at a certain point, all of it clicked and I absolutely love it (still playing through it). See if that route might work for you and then come back to dishonored 2.

Rainbow Six Vegas and whichever Soul Calibur had Darth Vader and Yoga.

Not because they were bad per se, more because I used to buy too many games.

Most recently BF1. I've only got around 9 hours played because TF2 is taking up my time. Honestly BF is a borefest compared to it (talking MP)

I want to like BF though so I'll give it more of a chance.

Considering the genre, probably Titanfall 1. Got like 10h before I got bored. Beta got me hyped so I bought the game. Not to say it was bad, competitive FPS just isn't my thing I guess.

Can't really think of any other full price purchases I made (because I rarely purchase at full price to boot) that I quickly dropped.

I'd say give it another chance.

For me, Just Cause 3, that game ran like shit on consoles.

This is a good one.

I mean, many will say No Man's Sky but it took quite a bit before you realise how shallow the game is and that nothing more will happen. Just Cause 3 however was trash from the very beginning. A technical mess on several fronts and aside from the wingsuit not actually all that fun to play. They gutted a lot of stuff that made Just Cause 2 so great.

Easily one of the biggest disappointments of the year.

And adding insult to injury is the way the devs handled it.Complete radiosilence and trying to ignore complaints while at the same time wasting time trying to push their paid DLC garbage.

"Hello sir, your game runs very bad, are you going to patch it?"
"Hey look, a mecha robot you can fly in this premium DLC, only 10 bucks!"

I don't care about a fucking rocket launcher when your game runs at 15 frames per second, goddamnit.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U. Also includes the wasted cost of a Gamecube controller and adapter that can't be used elsewhere.

Feel almost bad for mentioning it, but yeah... No Man's Sky. Played maybe two 2 hours chunks before putting it aside.

I managed to get to the second area in Yoshi's Wooly World before just stopping altogether.

Played the game co-op with my brother (something I always do, when I have the opportunity) and I just wasn't enjoying it. Something felt really unsatisfying about the controls, as if running and jumping didn't have that "oomph" you expect out of a Nintendo platformer. The sound effects were annoying and monotonous (especially with two Yoshis) and co-op didn't really enhance the experience, because frankly, we got in each other's way a lot.

Never had the drive to get back to it. Somehow I don't think we ever will.

This year: Deus Ex Mankind Divided. I played it for about a week (it replaced NMS on my playlist) and even though I loved the last one, this one was just too frustrating. I may eventually have another go when my PS4Pro arrives.

Wave Race: Blue Storm at the Gamecube launch. The physics felt so different from Waverace 64 (which I played to death and got over Mario 64) that I just couldn't adjust. Played Rogue Leader instead.

Assassin's Creed Unity, 2 hours

I greatly underestimated how much I did not give a fuck about Assassin's Creed at that point but I bought it anyway.

Hard to say. It's probably a recent game though. Maybe Fallout 4? Played it for 3 days and quit it. It was a heartbreaking failure, as I was a huge fan of Fallout 3 and Skyrim.

I'll return to it eventually. But man do I hate that game right now.

Didn't pay $60 for it as it's a PC game and I'm not in the US, but I bought Mirror's Edge Catalyst about a month after release because I loved the first one, and essentially gave up on it after a week.

May go back to it, who knows, but I'm not incredibly motivated to do so.

Also, much older instance of this: my parents bought me Mega-Lo-Mania (Tyrants: Fight Through Time in the US) on the Mega Drive/Genesis for Xmas in '92 or '93 but I was way too young for it, so I basically played it twice and that's it.

Destiny
I like FPS, but I usually play the lone wolf. Reached the first boss and realized I'm better off playing with someone else.
Haven't played it since.

This first post hurts my soul.

NMS I had for about a day and was happy to trade in quick before it dropped in value.
