From the comments section:

From the comments and main article, women gamers are more upset of a depiction in a single videogame as being a fat caricature, as opposed to the typical objectified sex object that they appear in many to most other games? Way to further your cause.

Also, I seriously hope they don't change the title. If anything, this game breaks the stereotype of having thin princesses to rescue.

I swear if she somehow delays this game, I'll poison her swiss cake rolls : (

What constitutes fat hate? The princess is the star of the game and she gets rescued. Its not like you kill her in the game.

This could be the only time I've EVER seen an overweight femail take a main role in any game ever, and it's suddenly wrong.

Yeah, really. Big-boned Princess, Thick Princess, "Healthy" Princess and It's just Baby Fat but She's got a Cute Face Princess just don't have the same ring to 'em. Don't cave under the pressure guys (pun totally intended).

Some people pick stupid causes....

I'm not buying this game if they change the title

Well, that's a lie, but if they do change it, I will sneer the entire time I'm setting up the transaction.

—but the only thing I can't figure out is why anyone would want to rescue a fat princess in the first place, since everyone knows that fat girls are unlovable human garbage at whom any sensible bloke would sooner hurl invective than cast a longing glance.

I could at least kind of understand why she'd be at least mildly upset up until roughly this point. Once she starts putting words in people's mouths to further the argument though, it becomes pretty obvious that she's just looking for reasons to be offended.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

Where the hell did the term "fat-acceptance" come from?

I think it comes from within first, then they start telling others about it.

The fat acceptance movement, also the size acceptance movement or fat liberation movement or fat power, is a grassroots effort to change societal attitudes towards individuals who are fat. The movement consists today of a diverse group of people, who have different beliefs about how best to address the widespread prejudice and discrimination against people whose girth is considered to be above average in contemporary Western societies.

Generally dated to the 1970s, the 1980s and 1990s witnessed an increase in activist organizations, publications, and conferences. In the 1980's new anti-dieting programs and models began to appear in the research literature, in response to new information dispelling common myths about obesity. The contemporary movement perceives negative societal attitudes as persistent, and based on the presumption that the rotund characteristics of a person's body reflect negative character traits of that person. For example in Chang and Christakis paper they state this belief by stating that obesity is detrimental to the community, by means of decreasing human efficiency, and that obese people interfere with labour productivity (V Chang and N Christakis, 2002). Furthermore, these diet-touting trends and societal views have led to an increase in psychological and physiological problems among those who feel that their weight is above the "socially acceptable norm".

Come to think of it if this game was called "Fat Prince" with a bunch of girly soldiers I think it would still work.

** Rescue the prince's lard ass

I don't see how any argument could be made that the concept of "Fat" is wrong.

Wait, being fat is a minority now?
I think the people that actually admit they are fat and use the word "fat" to describe themselves are a minority. The rest of the fat people use euphemisms and in time have actually started believing the word fat isn't an appropriate adjective to describe their big asses.

When I get LBP, Im going to make a fat sackboy, just so she is happy

and I'll make a level out of cake and bacon where you have to dodge veggies and treadmills in order to make it to the peanut butter stuffed pig

But isn't dodging veggies and treadmills good exercise?

From makers of "Little league all-star games are bad for self esteem "and "everyone gets a trophy day"

I knew everyone got a trophy, but have they seriously done away with LL all-star games (coming from an ex-AS :D )?

Wow, I see loads of bans...

In all seriousness, I don't see the problem. There's a princess, and she's FAT. Not chunky, not thick, not plump, or other shit that people say to be nice. Now someone put up the WHY SO SERIOUS Joker image so this thread can be awesome.

I hope you kind folks at Titan Studios do not cave into pressure and change the name of the game.

of all the things people could hinge on, it's body size/image? shouldn't the real issue anyone takes up versus fat princess the implicit acceptance over overeating and how, in this case, it benefits you.

besdies, these folks should really focus on the ignominy of fat suits in tv and film before levelling it at a video game that's fictional and grounded in fantasy anyway.

i'm with you, nobody should change the name of their game.

The point of the game is to rescue the Fat Princess. It's not like your soldiers go to save her, see her, and say "No thanks!" and walk away.

Also if they change the name from Fat Princess, I will not buy it. The name is just too awesome. As is, I'll be buying it day one.

This coming from a fat guy.

Girly soldiers rescuing a fat prince?.......The gay crowd wouldnt have a problem with that?

Maybe if this woman spent as much time on the elliptical as she did writing this article, she wouldn't have to complain... feminism has already ruined much of the traditional dynamic of male - female relationships (see: no fault divorce), now it has to ruin gaming too.

Why so serious? Geez, she's just a flag. As in Capture the Flag. That 10 people have to carry. And feed. And besides there are plenty of games where fit people are rescued and targeted for, you know, DEATH, like Halo 3's VIP, CounterStrike and various other games where you have to escort somebody, but one little game about a plump prima donna and everybody has to get in a hissy fit and throw around words of the year like heteronormative.

Really?

Really!?

If fit people can handle it, why not fat people?

Offense over nothing is a bugger.

"GAF's biggest wanker"
Yeah, I thought this was going to be a thread confirming voice chat... :(

Anyway, "fat-hating, heternormative assholes"? But the game ENCOURAGES feeding the princess and celebrating her plumpness, maintaining her fatness. And it means she attracts more men too. There's absolutely no fat-hating to be seen. Here in this game, fat is beautiful in a way that few other mediums can express in such interactive terms.

The name is what hooked everyone on this game when they only had 8 seconds of footage in a giant montage, they need to keep it. Although, "plus-sized Princess" is making me laugh...nah
