Holy crap I was just thinking about this game. Made going to the laundromat much more pleasant.

The Motorola 6809 is an 8-bit (with some 16-bit features) microprocessor...
...the significant enhancements introduced in the 6809 were the use of two 8-bit accumulators (A and B, which could be combined into a single 16-bit register, D), two 16-bit index registers (X, Y) and two 16-bit stack pointers.
It would indeed.
Same as the 68000 was a 16-bit processor with 32-bit features. Star Wars arcade was such an experience.
I forget the name of it..but you play as some acrobatic turkish looking guy, who can breathe fire? and fly?
it was a sidescroller.

I played the original in the arcades back in the day, and even now it is still my favourite arcade game ever.

Great game! I'm wondering if Robotron is the first ever twin-stick shooter.

Mine is Choplifter, a SEGA 1985 arcade remake of the 1982 computer classic:
Choplifter is possibly one of those games I played back in the day but I completely forgot about, so I have to thank OP to help me bringing back to surface some good old videogames' memories.
"Duh, who turned the lights out?" I spent many a quarter at my local Round Table playing this game.

Then I encourage you to play Choplifter in MAME, It's really very fun and addicting, I love itl
Wizard of Wor 8 bit? That was the first game that I really sank money into, playing with a friend.
No trip to Barcade is complete without playing this obscure maze game:

Not intending to start some bitness debate, but how would you define the 386sx and the 8088? /offtopicIt would indeed.

Galaxian was the bee's knees.

Spy Hunter was glorious, just had something about it. Very satisyfing, the pace was perfect and the change to get in the boat was a genius idea.
Wow, so many to mention:
Phoenix
Pleiads
Galaga
Gyruss - My favorite space shooter of all time
Joust
Popeye
Timber
Spy Hunter
Donkey Kong Jr.
Pac-Man
Xevious
Kangaroo
Star Wars
And I'm sure plenty others I've forgotten.
Bump for Pleiads...the unit in the snack bar where I used to play gave free credits if you jiggled the coin return. I got really good at Pleiads.
