What games out there have the best menus? I recently caught myself on The Last of Us' menu for like 10 minutes because of how calming it is - what about you guys?

DRIVECLUB comes to mind recently. As with the first DiRT. Sleek, fast, good music.

Worst: Gran Turismo 5.

Artistically pleasing: Prince of Persia 2008

EDIT:

Adding to the poor examples list:

Motorstorm games have painfully slow UI's. Evo's come a long way in that.

Another good one is God of War III.

MGS2:SoL has a special place as well.

Functionality wise, Perfect Dark has the best multiplayer menu. Each player can customize every aspect of the game and customize their character at the same time, there's never been a game where matches are faster or easier to set up.

Games with snappy menus. No stupid animations, no slowdowns, no waiting around for the stupid thing to get done wanking itself off.

Tactics Ogre on PSP is one of the prime examples of a great menu system.

Metroid Prime 2

All the menu options stick out of the center on little spokes, and you rotate the whole thing in 3D to select your option. It's hard to explain, but looks really neat.

Only gif I could find of L.A. Noire's main menu...

Loved it, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. Worth leaving on as background noise too for the amazing jazz score.

FIFA 15 - Honestly, I have nothing to criticize when it comes to the menu. The game itself is another story.

Efficiency-wise, it's hard to beat Driveclub
Killzone Shadowfall gets a callout for having zero bullshit before the main menu
Wolf Among Us is stylish as hell without getting in the way
Metroid Prime 1 and are awesome as well, also with the best main menu music
I guess we're not talking in-game menus but it feels wrong not to mention Dead Space, god of ingame menus

Metroid Prime
Shin Megami Tensei IV

I love menus that are themed like UIs/fantasy technology, and even better if it's supposed to be a direct representation of whatever device(s) the character you're controlling uses.
