February 2006 EGM Scores

The editor-in-chief also gave Amped3 an 8.5 last month. :lol

You know, I play PDZ a lot and I swear to God, on a given day I feel like it's either an 9 or 6. The quality of the experience varies so dramatically from level to level and multiplayer game to game.

krypt0nian, we're not going to play this game. The meaning was clear and without any confusion. You can clarify it now for yourself, if it makes you feel better, but saying that people who give PD0 a 6.5 couldn't possibly have played multiplayer only has one possible implication.

The fact that you had to claim I did the same thing only highlights this.

Play whatever game you like. It's only a game when you're not playing it obviously. You've called people "blind" in the past when they've not agreed with you and got borderline hostile in threads.

I didn't agree with the score. If that means I said that they're "wrong" then whatever. Cool. You interpret it however you like.

I'm not clarifying myself. I'm agreeing with you.

Directly imply that if they had a low score for PD0, it's because they did not experience the multiplayer portion. Which by association means that if they DID experience the multiplayer and thought the same thing, their opinion is wrong. That's the implication. You and the others might not have actually meant that, but that's the only possible way it can be read.

No, my grammar sucks. I meant they only played SP on easy.

As far as MP, he probably only played DM. :P

It may be true for that particular person, my complaint was that it was a bit more of a wide statement like anyone who thinks this must not have played those modes or on a harder difficulty.

I have only played a little bit of PDZ so my comments aren't because of any opinion I hold on the title, I just thought that was a bit silly

The 2 guys i put in bold are probably FPS fans or something (or space mmos)
The game is certainly a lot of fun, but it's very familiar territory. Unfortunately, the framerate sucks (tries to be 60 fps, but just can't hold it and drops all the time).

If you enjoyed the previous games, though, it's a good time.

Anyway i don't mind the score. Aoe Escape 2 was one of my fav PS2 game and i welcome another round of "more of the same" if it's what they want to sell me ( THIS TIME IT'S OK, prolly not for a third time after that)
Ape Escape 3 is probably my next PS2 game i buy.

Hopefully Mesaru Gear Solid makes it into the US version (I believe it will, as that was part of the reason why Ubi wouldn't touch this one).

There were some nifty additions in there as well. The new saru behavior was especially great, as they would often go so far as to steal your shit and use it on you. Probably the best game in the series, now that I think about. Loads of content and most of it is good.

I almost agree with that PDO score. That game is rotten IMO. I'm liking the PGR3 love.

Panzer Dragoon Orta?

I'm not sure why people struggle with Perfect Dark Zero's abreviation. It's quite simple: PDZ. It is not Perfect Dark 0 or, as you said, Perfect Dark O. It is Zero. PDZ.

can somebody please post a summary of the MVP impressions/pros & cons.

I was really looking forward to it. I played MVP 05 more than any other game in 2005. Load & Fire hitting sounded interesting and hopefully the online mode is decent.

An 8 sounds promising as its not meant to appeal to as wide an audience as Madden, but I'm worried about the lower scores.

Good:right analog stick batting and throwing, the concept
Bad: right analog stick batting and throwing, the execution

Basically they say using the sticks instead of the buttons make it a chore to play.

Also infielders miss routine pop-ups and overly repetitive announcers.

bummer. is there an option to play with the face buttons instead of the analog stick?

IGN's videos look very good.

I really don't get how you can like FF2 better than FF3.

I finished FF2 and now I'm pretty far through FF3 and I just don't get it.

For those of you bitching about the list, the rankings are based on how much time each game consumed of their lives ("and to a lesser extent, rattled the video game biz") when it came out.

What did they not like about Samurai Showdown 5?

The expected, mashup of old assets with mediocre new to make a pretty forgettable update. Only other noticeable complaint involved character balancing, but ultimately the score isn't designed to appear negative. Those 5's are actually disguised to expose how plainly average the game seems. The budget price and online play got positive attention.
