February: The most expesive gaming month.

SFIV CE - $80.
SFIV FightStick TE x 2 - $300
SFIV FightPad - $40

So $420, at the minimum, for one game. And I'm thinking I might pick up more than one of the FightPads (because I'm indecisive and can't pick between Ryu and Akuma).

Good thing I don't plan on buying anything else in Feb.

Depends on the game, actually. I would say something like Prinny will be hard to find later.
Any NIS title.
Any non-Persona Atlus title.
Any non-mainstream Capcom title.
Any Castlevania title.
Any Sega-published RPG/strategy title.
Preorder any LE/CE you need to have from a Japanese publisher.

Everything else can wait. Almost anything published from a North American company will be in plentiful supply when you get around to playing it.

Apart from DLC like Lost and Damned, I believe the only thing I'm picking up in the next two months is the collector's edition of RE5. SO4 is a possibility if it doesn't get skewered by the critics (fat chance of that).

I don't understand why anyone would buy more games than they have time to play. None of the games listed in the OP, except maybe Ys, will have a limited print run.

Dragon Quest V and Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? are the only games I'm planning on getting in February.

Thank goodness fighting games aren't my cup of tea.

I have enough stuff to buy without worrying about extra controllers.

Acutally skipping most the games in Feb. (even if Star Ocean is sooo tempting) I have a few games between my Wii and New 360 that i need to clear first.

I've pared mine down...

$60 Street Fighter IV
$40 Street Fighter IV pad
$30 Fire Emblem DS
$40 Dragon Quest V
$30 Retro Game Challenge
$35 Legacy of Ys

... $235 plus tax, plus probably a good couple bucks in downloadables (depending on what we get). After IU, I'm NEVER paying full price for a tri-Ace game either, I'll pick it up a couple months later in the bargin bins. :lol

What's REALLY going to get me though is March. :(

Damn, I guess the recession hasn't hit GAF yet. $420 plus tax for one freaking game? That is so foreign to me.

Killzone 2 and SF4 for me. That is it. Not even getting the special collector's editions either.

Wow, $420 for one game? That's insane.

So I am just curious, but why do you need 2 TE Arcade sticks AND a fightpad? Is SF IV more than a 2 player game?

Dawn of War II, Killzone 2 and Star Ocean for me plus whatever comes out on PSN or Steam weekend deals that I always seem to give into.

I'll be buying a lot, but thankfully, most of it is budget priced.

Wii:
House of the Dead: Overkill
OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayer
Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop

DS:
Retro Game Challenge

PS3:
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection
X-Blades

Hard to find is not the same as disappear. :p

But you get the point. Also, how does one find the time to devote to 10 new games in a month?

a friend of mine from the town I moved away from still has ps1 games in its original packaging. he hasnt gotten to playing most of his collection :lol

Street Fighter IV CE PS3 - $79.99
Street Fighter IV CE 360 - $79.99
Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Stick PS3 - $149.99
Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Stick 360 - $149.99
Street Fighter IV Ken FightPad PS3 - $39.99
Street Fighter IV Chun Li FightPad 360 - $39.99

The feeling that I will be able to have competition on either console and any time with the best controls possible to up my game? Mother. Fucking. Priceless.

Edit: Also, you people wondering why so much for one game...it's not for one game. The Fightsticks will be used for every fighting game going forward and back. The Pads as well, not to mention on the PC and for those 2D games requiring good D-pads. The pads/sticks are all investments.

:lol It's a new Street Fighter. Come on. We've all spent more on that buying the same iterations on different systems. And we will continue doing so. It's Street Fighter!

Will you be buying the PC version, + pads + sticks, too?

I don't mean to sound like a jerk here, but why are people getting both the FightPad and the Tourney Stick? It strikes me as being slightly redundant, personally, unless you're a collector or something. >_>

Ccrook is banned? Sweet.

Anyway, I dunno what I'm going to get. GTA DLC is a instant purchase. The Sega Mega Collection is being considered. I also just played the Fear 2 demo and quite enjoyed it.

I may pick Silent Hill 2 up.

I'll buy the PC version , yep. PS3 stick works on PC. So, yeah.

1) Not all people may use the stick when they come over

2) A shitload of 2D dopeness on LIVE that will be even better as a result.

That's what I'm wondering, too. I mean I can see if you buy one of each, but why 2 TE sticks AND gamepads?

Only Killzone 2 for me - and I am not even sure I will get around to buying it in February. Still need to finish Saints Row 2, LBP and Uncharted.

SFIV CE 79.99
SFIV TE STick + 2 day shipping = 179.99 [From Capcom store]
SFIV RE Stick 69.99
SFIV SG 23.99

Killzone 2 59.99

Stuff to consider:
Dragon Quest V
Prinny

Not bad. I need to save up for other things. I want a new camera and camcorder for a trip in a few months though.

Dragon Quest V - $40
Legacy of Ys: Books I&II - $35
Star Ocean 4 - $60
Ultimate Genesis Collection - $30
plus I still need to grab Star Ocean: Second Evolution - $40
= $205. Eff me.

Just to list the things off the top of my head that I'd end up getting in February:

Street Fighter 4 CE - $80
Street Fighter 4 Arcade Stick TE - $150
Street Fighter Fightpad (Chun Li) - $40
Killzone 2 - $60
Dawn of War 2 - $50
Star Ocean: The Last Hope - $60
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - $35
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride - $40
Legacy of Ys: Books 1 and 2 - $35
Puzzle Quest: Galatrix -$30
Blue Dragon Plus - $30

Total: $610 (Plus tax)

And they say they want us to spend money to boost the economy. Well here ya go. Boost powah!

You are insane. Why would you spend $300 on SFIV, then also supplement that with EIGHT other games, where 5 of them are RPGs, and 2 of the other 3 have extensive multiplayer modes designed to be played for dozens if not hundreds of hours. The math doesn't work here. At least 6, and more likely 9 of those games will be ignored.

what job do you have?

Relatively inexpensive month for me:

Definites:
SF4: CE (PS3)
HOTD: Overkill
Dawn of War 2

Maybes:
Retro Game Challenge
Ultimate Genesis Collection

With relatively no interest in KZ2, that's about it for me.

I'll get Dawn of War 2 when it goes on sale at Target, Amazon, or Best Buy. That's about it, provided Paradox or Matrix Games doesn't hit me with a Spreadsheet Gaming Surprise.

Also, the games and sticks will run me under $400 since I get a discount. The FightPads on the other hand will come from Amazon...and are free because of an Xmas Gift card. So FU! :D

what job do you have?

I'm a private investigator who works PT at Gamestop (discount) and freelances for websites. As if it matters. Just a matter of dipping into my hobbies fund (2nd savings account) which I put in $20 per paycheck. Over time, it's quite large my friend. Managing your finances is a good thing.

Add Flower, LocoRoco 2 and Noby Noby Boy to my list along with Killzone 2, Street Fighter IV and a non-TE Fighting Stick. Very expensive but oh so fun month

Here's a secret I'll tell you all for free (this one time)...

Games don't disappear if you don't buy them on launch day.

Mostly true! Some games have limited print runs and I imagine that those arcade sticks and fight pads will be hard to find later.

But stuff like Killzone? Yeah, Killzone isn't going anywhere.

since I live in Canada, things are more expensive here. I'm not going even to think about how much I'm spending. Feb 2009 has to be bigger then Nov 2008

Yep :( but March is worse for me.

February:
HOTD
Dead Rising
Fire Emblem
Deadly Creatures

For March:
SATBK
RE5
Madworld
Pokemon
GTA DS

I envy you and your job.
