Feel-good anime recommendations

You've already seen the best, now for the rest. (This is more focusing on the "Laid-back, Relaxing Tone, Feel-Good" paradigm as there are not many similar to those listed)

Windy Tales
Hidamari Sketch
Wandering Son
Tsuritama

I'll give them a listen right now. I think my favorite anime music has to be Nichijou's orchestral soundtrack. I used to play in a winds ensemble until I had to move out to Toronto for graduate school, and it sounds like music that my band director might go for, and it brings back nice feelings.

It's certainly among my absolute favorites. You have no idea how refreshing it was to hear a comedy soundtrack that wasn't bile. Life-focused anime are usually better with this and it still ranks among the greatest there too.

3 short amazing animes:

Ctrl-F "Grave of the Fireflies"

You did good TrollGAF.

Kinda surprised no one has said Hidamari Sketch. Those are so relaxing to watch and very adorable.

Now if you want a relaxing manga to read go for Yotsuba&! Since you loved Azumanga.

OP I cannot recommend Space Brothers enough. It has such a heartwarming message and outlook.

Also Mushishi is visually beautiful, and seriously touching, but sometimes it can be a bit melancholy.

Also, it's manga only but Yotsubato!. It's motto is "enjoy everything!"

Yeah, Clannad isn't feel good; it's sad. I mean it has its happy moments, but overall, not something I'd watch to pick me up.
Yes!

But I was profoundly happy with how Clannad ended :D

lol but you need to get through so much shit to get to the end man...no way in hell anyone should watch it to have a good time

I'm also glad to see Barakamon and you exist in Spring being mentioned..both very good recommendations

Haré+Guu

I... think. I haven't seriously watched anime in probably a decade. I remember this being a WTF-type series that was amusing.

I may be confusing it with Excel Saga?

Yakitate!! Ja-Pan

Can't believe no one mentioned it yet, it's hilarious.
I'll be honest I only really like the first arc. Also the way they screw over Kawachi basically left a sour taste in my mouth.

Is there a way to bookmark a thread within Neogaf?

Hale + Guu is probably my favorite anime comedy to date. It's a wonderful wonderful show. It's dub is horrendous though, and it feels like the localization team didn't understand a lot of the jokes. So watch it in Japanese.

Silver Spoon.

It really hits its stride in the second season. It has some moments of drama but it almost always ends up putting a smile on my face.

It has some very charming writing and a really entertaining cast of characters.

Lots of good recommendations, but a couple I didn't see:

Cardcaptor Sakura (I'm super biased for this series, but seriously, so good)
Natsume Yuujinchou [Natsume's Book of Friends]

Nichi—

"preferably something like Azumanga Daioh or Nichijou?"

Well there you go! I'm now piggybacking on this thread to find new shows to watch.

Barakamon.

I was smiling like an idiot the entire way through. The beginning of episode 3 is probably my favourite moment from the last few years of anime.

Cromartie High School never fails to make me crack a smile. The show is just so bizarre and I love it. The dub of it is also absolutely terrific.

Well, I'm home now. I'm going to watch a bit of Polar Bear Cafe, Nozaki-kun, and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou and see what I like. Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Jesus. I can't do the Aria series. I've had the second season on hold forever because it just makes me feel so depressed.

Wait, wait, why does it make you feel depressed?
I guess third season can be depressing cause that was it's final season, but I thought the first season was like the most upbeat out of the three?

Shit, I knew I forgot a few there. Revised list!

School Days
Elfen Lied
Grave of the Firefly
Jin-Roh
Now and Then, Here and There
SaiKano
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket

Now that's my kind of list. Add in some Berserk, Aku no Hana, and Mohiro Kitoh stuff and we'll have a super grand time.

Cardcaptor Sakura

this anime will make you feel like a kid. it's so innocent and adorable. a girl i knew actually got me into it and i have to admit i enjoyed it. Kero-chan is the best.

No, he isn't confused, and yes, it is bloody excellent.

Non Non Biyori

It's just so......adorable. I mean actively Awwww-worthy.

Also consider "Honey and Clover" a series so warm and fuzzy that the mere presence of synthetic fibres cause a small thunderstorm.

Tatami Galaxy. It's pretty uninteligible at first and seems to repeat itself, but after a while it all clicks into place. And the ending is awesome.

Oh, and Sabagebu! (Survival Game Club) isn't bad, but you have to remember that the MC's actions are supposed to come across as vindictive. Her "0 fucks given" attitude is intentional.
