FFCC: The Crystal Bearers - What happend?

********** receives an exclusive email from Square-Enix public relations about the status of Crystal Bearers? Sounds weird... But hey, let's wait...

People need to pay more attention to that site. I'm not sure why there are band here, but they do have quit a few exclusive dealings with people who are legitimate to the industry.

Because not everyone likes to read opinions in their news.

If there's a headline like:
"RARE Interview"
Mark Betteridge talkes about his history with Nintendo etc. etc.

And at the end:
I don't know I always liked RARE, maybe they could come back to Nintendo like in the old days. RARE still likes them I think, maybe we should start an online petition. I always wanted a new Banjo game for my GameCube, what do you guys think?

He links to articles from shitty websites just so he can post his opinion on the subject.
Actually copy-pasted from **********:
Nintendo is letting third parties strut their stuff this holiday season. Am I crazy, or are there a lot of great, interesting Wii titles to look forward to for the rest of the year? I have to go through and stack my Wii holiday titles up next to my 360 and PS3. I want to see just how many Wii games I’ve bought over this holiday season.

Who the fuck cares how many games that guy bought?

It's like:
Another day in my unemployed history

Because someone who has time to watch every bit of Nintendo news and posts every shovelware PR certainly hasn't got a real job.

Isn't that a blog site? Plus he has two sister sites dedicated to Sony and Microsoft.

What's with the hate? I'm a constant visitor of that site and it's easily the best source for Nintendo news. Of course there is going to be shitty news, but most of the news is sent to him as the site has quite a large following.

And concerning his opinions, it's a blog! They're all about opinion posts. You don't like it, don't read it. Simple :)

I'm with plank, the site shouldn't be banned, as quite a few users still link to it anyway.

Yeah, there's a lot of shitty news and some items that didn't even qualify as news, and sometimes the source is NeoGAF itself (hence the GAF->Internet->GAF, and this is why the site is banned I think?), but it's a good Nintendo-related news aggregator. Just skip the opinions if you don't want to read it.

I have nothing against it. I used to visit it daily, I think it was through that site that I discovered GAF. In fact, I only stopped visiting it because GAF replaced all other sites as my online drug of choice.

But really, if Square has such huge news coming, why telling them first?

Maybe It's not the only site that got it.

err, that is his "real job" and 99% of the people on this site would die and go to heaven if they found out they could be paid a living salary to sit around all day blogging about video games.

I don't understand Square Enix anymore. The Wii sells billions and Square only rleases some 'little' games like that WiiWare FFCC title.

They could make much money with a big epic RPG.

I usually frequent GoN too. I do it because the guy posts Nintendo related news rather quick, and it is an easy place to see screenshots. Some of his rumors are stupid, but as someone says, it is usually info sent to him, not that the game makes it up.

I don't like his personal comments either, but then again, it is a blog site, although I would like if he could leave his comments to the story comments section.

Anyway, looking forward to the official PR, or whatever is SE saying tomorrow.

It's a very friendly site with very fast news coverage and with the recent revamp becoming much more professional. GAF needs to take it's pretentious head out of it's arse.

People... it's been 3 years since CB was announced. 3 F*ING YEARS!

Since then there hasn't been a shred of new info let alone media.
Err, sure there has. It's still been a long time, but since its original trailer we've seen a bigass interview and a trailer that showed the project had gone through a complete transformation.

Hooray, another game people freaked about that's not actually cancelled.

Silence does not equal cancellation.

How about we wait until SQUARE says the game is not canceled and not some website guy who doesn't speak Japanese and suddenly claims to have Square contacts says it?

Err, sure there has.

Then please post the video (that you should have posted already but didn't), of this NEW footage of Crystal Bearers.

Er... What makes you think he was contacted by Square of Japan? They do have a NA branch you know. Also, RMC never said he had Square contacts. What he said was, and I quote tag:

I have received an email from Square-Enix public relations that states that the game has not been cancelled and an official statement will be provided tomorrow.

When it comes to Nintendo news...

Go Nintendo is faster than GAF

...There I said it.

Stop Hatin'

With that, Fingers crossed on it not be cancelled. First Disasta not coming out in NA, and now a possible cancellation on another core game.

Damn Nintendo.. Don't get comfortable with the casual money flow.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Unless someone has a better memory I can't think of one SE game that was canceled after being officially announced. They're probably keeping it in limbo while their A and B teams are finishing the FFXIII projects. I personally would prefer they do that than assign their lower tier teams to CB just to get it out the door.

Kitase produces all things FNC, while Kawazu produces all Crystal Chronicles games. They both have their own studio and their own development teams. And Kawazus teams aren't exactly low tier, either. His main team is the former FFXII team (minus the guys who left SQEX after FFXII, like Matsuno and Minaba) - that team supposedly handles tCB, and is not involved in the development of FFXIII or FFvsXIII.

FFCC is not a Kitase department game, it is a Kawazu department game. We don't know if the XIII team is in need of people and thus SE is having people from other teams, besides Versus team which we know they are helping with the main game right now, to help with the development.

Either way, the CB is the biggest Kawazu game at the moment, and if they were so busy, they wouldn't have been doing Echoes of Time or working on the Pollux Engine.

Just for your info, there is one more top department, Tanaka's. That means the FFXI and 'Rapture' teams. Any other current department besides the 2 Enix side ones (DQ and tri-Ace games), are unknown to me.

Sonia Im, Senior Public Relations Manager of Square Enix, Inc.

“While much of EGM’s ‘Rumor Mill’ contents end up being accurate, in this case the report is incorrect.

We have never announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers has been cancelled and have every intention of releasing it. There may be some concerns as a firm ship date has not been set but rest assured there will be an announcement once we finalize the date internally.

Although there are many Square Enix related rumors out there that we do not comment on, due to the feedback from the readers, we felt it was necessary to provide a statement to alleviate the worries of those who are looking forward to the game. The fan base that the Final Fantasy series has is appreciated by everyone at Square Enix (not only the developers) so we hope this statement will prevent any further spreading of the rumor.

We apologize for any unnecessary distress this rumor may have caused and hope the fans of the series can again look forward to the upcoming release of Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.”

FFCC: The Crystal Bearers - What happend?

It got canceled when Square announced the DS to Wii port of that new game.

Congrats.

There's your third party support. No longer will the Wii get PS2 ports. Now it gets DS ports.

The most important RPG for the Wii from SE and people actually think it's canceled, even though we've seen that the game has been completely overhauled? GAF never ceases to amaze me.

We aren't talking about Kingdom Hearts 3.

Awesome, that will help to settle down anymore rumors. Although it seems it won't stop the trolls, well but it is obvious, a SE game for Wii, that's like jailbait right in the oven.

Now we just need an actual update on the progress of the game.

Jump Festa

Hopefully

Are you a troll, or just an idiot?

This title probably started out as a cheap spinoff title but got a complete makeover when it was apparent that the Wii would be a big succes. I think this title will be pretty big.

1. Go Nintendo is a news aggregator, not a news site. Basically, don't quote them, quote their source if they post it. I can see why it is both appreciated and looked upon warily by an audience like NeoGAF.

2. They do have contacts with several PR reps in certain positions with certain companies.

3. The PR is nice, but I'll believe it when I see it (the game).

We saw that trailer over a year ago and then not a single update until now. My Life as a King developers were even asked on the status of Crystal Bearers and they avoided answering the question. Not hard to understand why people though there was the chance it got canceled. If it's so import I imagine SE would give us some word on the game from time to time like they've done with FFXIII when they'd update on it, even though they had nothing new to show or say sometimes they'd at least mention it to let us know it still lives and is being worked on.

they where sent an email directly from an SE rep.

I know this doesn't say much to confirm or deny the post's credibility. But I can confirm that Sonia Im IS a legit contact in Square Enix's North American branch. When I worked for a site called Gaming Infinity in 2004, she was the one sending the notes about Square's upcoming releases.

All that said, they could have just looked up her name and faked the note, so...I guess it's still anybody's guess what the actual deal with Crystal Bearers is.

I'm hoping for "not cancelled". :lol

THIS

The fact is that Square has been denying the cancelation of the game for what? A year? And they have yet to show any significant progress.

Has Dragona said anything recently?

Also this is just a case of EGM spreading Wii FUD, just like the last time they said this.

That's pretty nice and all but...
I want VIDEOS and SCREENSHOTS SE!! please! just one screenshot or a five seconds video will do.

I want to SEE. :(

Last time they did that, which was with DQIX, the game was shown a year later completely redone.

What happened almost after a year of silence? A new FF:CC game was shown off that's fairly larger in scope that boasts connectivity with another console.

The reason Square has not shown the game again is because they have adopted Nintendo's policy of not showing a Wii game until it is 2 months from release. :D

This really means nothing. If anything, it may indeed mean that they d choose to make Crystal Bearers part of the Fabula Nova Crystalis Mythology. I doubt they would shut down rumors of a cancellation unless it indeed *gasp*, was canceled.

This game is coming out. How it will look and play though is anyones guess.
