Why do they think it would be so hard to remake FFVII? Do I just expect to little from a remake? If I was going to remake the game I don't think I would feel overwhelmed. Every thing in the game is done. All they have to do is bring the graphics into this generation.

  • Redo all the cut scenes with Advent children quality video.
  • Add voice acting to all the cut scenes.
  • Do the voice acting twice and choose the best actor for each part.
  • Redo all the character models up to FF13 standards.
  • Recreate all the painted backgrounds into 3D.
  • Redo all the enemy models up to FF13 standards.
  • Redo the over world and recreate the over world models.
  • Leave the battle system the f alone but add skips to the summons.
  • Job Done

What's so damn overwhelming about that list? It's a list. Do they think they have to reinvent the whole thing?

I think the problem is that they wouldn't be able to keep themselves from monkeying with the game. For example the one thing I would think they would absolutely change is the over world. If I was going to redo it I would make the over world like Gran Pulse. Where you could see all the enemies walking around and you could walk around in the middle of em. I would still leave the random encounters in the rest of the game though. They wouldn't be able to stop there though and I think that's the problem.

Damn its sooo simple. Like why didnt anyone think of that...

If they plan to do it, they better hurry up, before the entire generation of people that could give a damn about the game grows old and dies.

I honestly don't see such a thing happening without some serious changes, and not only from an aesthetic standpoint.

XIII has the better ATB and Dress Sphere system.

yeah no. It has a simplistic take on it, but dress sphere & garment grid & fast ATB,, chaining and individual character control choke that bitch.

I can't see why it's such a big deal to them. Just remake the CG backgrounds, redo the FMVs, redo all the character models, done. They seem to want to do a full 3D complete overhaul of the game. Is it just me who sees "FFVII remake" as just a refresh of the game graphically, keeping the same essentially 2D gameplay intact? It doesn't even need voice acting or anything like that.

Wouldnt surprise me if this has been in development secretly for a couple of years the way they keep going on about the damn thing

At this point it'd be more realistic to ask
for a God of War style HD remaster of FF12, which I wouldn't mind since I haven't played
that game.
Likewise, as long as they'd add some kind of new game plus to it.

I have to mention it again --

Does anybody really want to see the gay bathtub scene in HD?
yes

I'm gonna disagree here. It really doesn't. It's good, after it gets going after 25 hours, but it's still a couple of steps down from what they had in X-2.

It needs to be about more than just class swapping at the appropriate time and knowing what team members to use, the fact that it's cumbersome to even manually pick abilities over the fairly iffy AI is annoying as hell.

Final Fantasy VII Remake has too many towns, so it can't be made. I also don't really feel like they need to remake this game ... they just need to make better games.

If it were the international version, sure.

Job systems make everything better.

i'd rather have no FF7 remake at all than let Toriyama handle it. Sorry dude, i'm not a fan of linearity.

I'd love to see him handle it, as I'm not a fan of meaningless bullshit littered about a game to artificially inflate it's length.

With less defined graphics, and no VA, the imagination can fill in a lot of blanks - making things seem better than they may actually turn out to be.

Not this shit again.

Yes, X-2 is still king.

It is close though. Had they allowed for AI settings (A la tales of...) and physical changes for jobs, it would definitely have been better.

but VII had exploration, towns, minigames, and an overworld. i don't think he'd be able to handle recreating those elements.

Versus XIII has all of that...well we don't know about minigames yet :lol

Why do they keep bringing this up, jesus. Either make the game or don't.

It's still the best selling PS1/PSP game on the PSN, there is clearly demand.

You forgot non-generic abilities.

X-2 had a lot of unique skills along with the generic moves that made each dress-sphere feel special.

If they are going to re-create FF VII, they have to keep it faithful to the original.

I just don't trust SE to do that. You give SE the most basic task, and they will go out of their way to fuck it up.

Though I must admit, the DS remakes have been quite good.

Final Fantasy teams need to be sharing more tech and more work.

They had this huge, awesome AI priority system in their last game, arguably best in the entire medium but they scrap it and now I have AI dolts spamming their entire library of spells before getting the one I want or basing WAY too much off of elemental properties and picking a bunch of weak ass attacks.

As for FFVII they wont remake it until it makes the least sense and do it in the dumbest fashion possible. This is the group of people who made a compilation to celebrate this game and didnt release a single thing anyone wanted.

After seeing Lightning, who was more or less designed as a gender-bent Cloud, I have some very mixed feeling about seeing HD cross-dressing Cloud :lol

FFVI is far better then VII...

Personally Final Fantasy 13 has been been probably my most enjoyable since FFVI tbf...

SE have done something they can be proud of...it's an amazing game...except for the story...which if you wanna understand you have to read the data logs.

Would anyone really want current squaresoft to touch FFVII? I think it's pretty obvious that all the talent left and the only thing that remained was the big budgets. Bring back Sakaguchi or don't bother.

Until it's officially confirmed, I'm just gonna close these threads, same 'ol crap. It's like an April Fool's joke that happens every couple months.
