Kid's got big brass balls by the end of the game. Give him a few years to grow into himself and he might just pull it off. Vanille and Sazh would have been a great, albeit hilarious pairing and I think it was hinted at in game.

Punctuated by brief, furious bouts of angry sex. But they wouldn't be happy and would break up and get back together a dozen times much to the annoyance of all their friends who'd rather they just break up and be done with it as they're clearly no good for each other. They might get married one day, but it'll just lead to an acrimonious divorce and a brood of emotionally stunted kids with abandonment issues.
Lightning's better off with a guy who's dealt with his anger issues and Kain needs a woman who can calm him the eff down.
