FIFA 17 teaser trailer (Frostbite for PC/PS4/XB1, September 27)

With the new change of the game engine in the xbox the game is going to pass from 1080p to 720p like the others frostbite titles?

This is gonna be so good. The FIFA games haven't really improved in graphics for many years now so this is very welcome. Frostbite is an amazing looking engine. Just look at Battlefront.

What's with people worrying about performance? I am sure it will manage 1080p 60fps on ps4. Battlefront is 900p 60fps and I'm sure FIFA isn't as demanding as this.

A moment of silence for the Ignite Engine, please.

Also, LOL

Ignite Engine was just a name. FIFA had been using the same engine since the first FIFAs on PS3/360.

It wasn't even like Madden, NHL, or PGA starting using FIFA's engine because they have been for that long as well.

We haven't had a single Frostbite title run at 1080p 60fps for PS4 (900p60fps) or Xbox One (720p60fps). That being said, I'll take a smoother framerate over a resolution loss any day.

And for those of us who have PCs which have been a little hamstrung by the console versions, this might let us have a really awesome looking game of football.

Now I'm just getting ready to laugh in case they pull that shit again of holding off the changes on the PC version for no apparent reason.

I really hope they have paid more attention game modes that aren't Ultimate Team. Career mode should be so much more fleshed out than it is.

I get that this series is about selling card packs to children but please, don't ignore the rest of the game.

I'd imagine there's people on the team that have ideas for it and then are met with the question "well what extra revenue would that bring?" I wouldn't be shocked if career mode ends up with NBA 2k style microtransactions for stats.

i understand that but will FIFA 17 really be as demanding as a game like Battlefield 4 or Battlefront? Surely they can manage to bump it to 1080p 60fps. to be honest either way i don't mind if it does end up being 900p 60fps. i agree with you, i would prefer a higher fps than resolution.

It can be, I think people underestimate how having 22 players running around can be fairly demanding. It depends what they focus on, they can make it look utterly fantastic in terms of effects or focus on the resolution.

I don't see why FIFA running frostbite can't run at 1080/60. It's hardly going to be as demanding as a game such as Battlefield or Battlefront. Should piss 1080/60 easily.

All I want from this game is for it to be fun for 2v2. Ultimate team can fuck off.

Bring back game lobbies so you can play group games with your mates. It's ridiculous that in 2016, me and 3 other friends can't play a game of FIFA together online, especially when there's ranked 2v2 seasons.

I'm actually excited to see what this will mean for the gameplay. Graphics actually don't matter that much as they are "good enough" as is. Except for those fucking stadiums that have those fucking shadows. And please for the love of everything let this have positive effects on the netcode.

They fucked up FIFA 16 so much that I haven't even bothered to look at this trailer let alone even considiring buying FIFA 17.

I've played PES untill PES 2008. It was FIFA from then on and now it's back to PES if I even wanna buy one of them. FIFA lost it's credits.

Also curious about the impact it will have on gameplay. EA is probably good at making it sound incredible (marketing etc), but how big of a difference is it really?

Partly agree.

For me they nerfed speed too much - it was ridiculous running with Walcott and Mertesacker could keep up with him..

Actually excited to see what changes mechanic and graphic wise an engine change will bring.

First time in years I'm excited for a fifa lol.

Yeah FIFA16 was one of the worst in years. I hate the way the AI defenders/midfielder press the ball so much in. If you play a slow build up style, one wayward pass and you get hit on the counter way too frequently. I also hate the way when you play "stronger" teams, it makes your players worse.

For example, I usually play as middle of the road 4 star teams in seasons (such as Bordeaux), as soon as you come up against a team like Leicester, suddenly most of your passes don't connect, players first touch goes wayward, constantly conceding free kicks for fouls that simply aren't free kicks.... yet all of those issue go away if you play a 3.5 star team.

I just want fair and balanced gameplay, don't make my team worse just because the opposition is a better team. It's rubbish.

so the news is that they changed the graphic engine?
i'm gonna get it from EA itself anyway,so ,yeah,i'm ready for fifa 17...
let's just hope this time they fix the series (they won't)

Frostbite handles more than just graphics.

Honestly, if this plays very similar again, then they put development effort in to make it that way and that will be just how they want FIFA to feel. They can't just add parts of the existing FIFA codebase to this.

They took all the fun out of it and replaced it with the annoying shit going on they called realism.

I don't want my whole team attacking on a corner in 90+ minutes with a 1 goal lead (even when i'm ultra defensive) only to get countered to a dray. Preferably with three rebounds and/or a penalty.

And I also don't want my last defender suddenly falling on the ground because he got the cramps.

oh really?kinda hyped then,I've been waiting for a bit of change in this series for so long

This will be 1080p on the Neo. It coming out end of September guarantees it will need to have a patch for a Neo version.

Guarantees, huh? I didn't think the release of Neo was anything other than speculation and rumour that put it anywhere from fall to spring.

I swore I wouldn't buy 17 due to the gradual deterioration in quality since 13. Frostbite engine though... if they do a complete overhaul on gameplay I will buy.

Dude documents to the developers leaked and they mention that every game releasing in late September will need a day 1 patch to support Neo. From October on your game needs to ship with it.

I don't care when the console launches, but the game will have to support it.

Hmmm ...

Will this be the same transition we had during FIFA 07 and FIFA 08? With the old versions having more options/teams and the new versions being half-asses?

I certainly hope not. Frostbite enables the game to be even better. Let's hope it turns out to be better than FIFA 16 because ... goddamn. Every player feels like having their spines being locked into place. Like running around with a brick.

Doubt it. I know they already had FIFA 16 running on Frostbite internally.

This. So much this.

Edit: and with Frostbite, could this be the first purely physics-driven football game with no more of those hateful pre-canned animations (eg 5-metre stumbles etc)?

I'm not giving you my source. You don't have to believe me. I knew about this engine change since last August.

So you have a source? That's great mate. Really. Good for you.

Does this source have anything to do with common sense? You know ... like, almost all EA Sports game slowly, making the transition to Frostbite?

Just, stop posting shit like this if you can't back it up.

I'm hoping the engine change comes with significant gameplay changes. I love FIFA as it is now, but these last three iterations have felt too similar. It could do with a reinvention.

And bring back game of the week!
