Fighting Games Weekly | July 30 - August 5

what relaunch?
After launching, Taskmaster did a very, very delayed air magic series (might have just been MHS). When he landed, he did Aim Master H, which OTGed just in time for Shield Skills to pick the character up from the OTG for a relaunch. It was beautiful.

If you want a game where everyone is so strong of a character that they're annoying/rage inducing to fight against, there's Marvel.

Say no to escalation, bring down the top and let the bottom "rise" comparatively.

Problem is, SFxT is boring because it's too predictable and repetitive. They should be adding bigger hitboxes and more crossups, not less. The changes they have made in the patch is too little too late, it does nothing to change the nature of the game and make it more fun. Fact is, if you don't get the feeling that you are causing your opponent to ragequit you just are not going to have fun.

Yeah I know dieminion was the original Morrigan player in ny. But chrisg did start off a Morrigan team with Wright and Dante.

Chris G started using Morrigan because he was bodied by Dieminion's Morrigan.
I think the giveaway that its a troll team is that they split the pot at 8 on the break GF, and use characters that they weren't using for the rest of the tournament. Even if they've been in the lab with them i'd still call that a troll team.

i think chris g did have a morrigan/phoenix team in vanilla. at least that is what dieminion said i think.

Chris G had always been a fan of Morrigan even back in vanilla, back then he was constantly talking on his twitter about how he loves Morrigan and is trying to get her to work. He played Morrigan with Phoenix numerous times in team tourneys for majors, and frequently too in Guard Crush back when nobody in NY cared about MvC3 and Chris G was always using his troll teams. I am 100% certain he will main Morrigan in DS4 if she doesn't suck.

He did. Infact, I recall somewhere that he said his first team in Vanilla (pre- Ryu/Ammy/Wesker) was Ammy/Morrigan/Phoenix. ChrisG was already able to execute the Morrigan fireballs well enough in Summer Jam 5 last year

<KeitsWRK> divekick found a publisher
<KeitsWRK> cant announce publisher yet
<KeitsWRK> deal isnt final, its just on the table
<KeitsWRK> you'll find out in a week or two

Incoming publisher bailing. RIP divekick

Indeed. People need to get their history straight.

The deadline for Divekick I think was today, so if he didn't cancel the charges would be taken out. No real choice.

Hopefully the publisher is a legit publisher and a good one. I have a bad feeling judging from a friend's facebook post it might be Capcom with Backbone involved. (is the Jojo's port Backbone)
Caveat: this is speculation, this person hasn't leaked any info to me, but is a low-level worker there, and has never talked about fighting games before the last couple of months, so they have to be working on something FGC-related.

Why would Capcom's involvement be bad? This is Keits. I'm sure he'll do everything he can to make sure that the game is handled well.

It's not Capcom I'm worried about, it's Backbone.

You have no idea how many times I've had to hold my tongue on facebook to avoid putting that company on blast. Then again, I'm trying to be nicer these days as well and not blast games as much as I used to.

Grats to Keits. I hope the pub is good. It could give them a much better chance of getting their game on Steam and other digi shops.

A lot of people played Morrigan with phoenix simply because of the meter builder assist. And that's how Chris played her.
There were a couple times when Chris would tweet how his Morrigan team won a Guard Crush or a Break, and another player would say, "You mean your phoenix team won."

Dieminion came through at the break and Big 2, made everyone leave mad as hell for 2 weeks straight. Next thing you know, Chris' Ryu gets retired and here comes Chris G's Morrigan.
So yeah, Chris was probably a fan who tried to make her work, but it was definitely Dieminion who showed him how it was done.It inarguable that Chris built from there and created what seems like the perfect (or at least near perfect) Morrigan team, improving on everything he took from Dieminion.

And there was never a time when NY didn't care about MVC3.

Dieminion was using Morrigan since Vanilla Marvel when No one used Morrigan. First time i sa him even play MVC3 was at the famous tournament in canada where Marlinpie blew up Combofiend in the finals, then Team Spooky got his camera equipment confiscated coming into the border

HOLY SHIZNIT!! and i thought 12.95 for EVO was bad!

So I got a Vita last week. Been playing UMVC3 and random PSP fighting games on it.

For the UMVC3 online, most of my matches have been lag fests. Have had some real damn good ones though. Which surprised me for some reason.

Seems most people are playing on touch controls? When I set the ranked filter to no Touch, I hardly get matches, but with set to everything, I get a match usually.

I brought this up in the Vita thread, but does anybody who owns a Vita here think the buttons and D-pad are too close to the analog sticks?

I find my left thumb constantly hitting the left stick on accident. It's super annoying. Happens on the buttons side as well.

It's very uncomfortable. I have to hold it in a weird way now, and I get hand cramps if I go for 5 minutes or so.

It makes me sad, lol. The d-pad feels so good. But everything feels so cramped. I thought this would be portable fighting game heaven. I feel compromised.

I'm actually scared of getting a fighter on my Vita. I think I might never put it down :x
