Wow, Yun is really easy. Only problem I'm having is connecting his divekicks with combos, probably an angling thing I have to sort out. I don't see a wolverine pressure from him but its certainly a lot easier playing the game lol

Now I wish I had taken a picture of the "Sleeping on the couch" version of the KazunokoFace" It included a thumbs up!

Momochi going to all these events:

NCR
SCR
Stunfest
SEAM
CEO
EVO
Canada Cup

Momochi is looking to make bank at some of these tournaments. Xian has his number so if Xian appears in these too, I'd be scared. However, I have faith that Momochi will demolish everyone until Daigo comes and shows us why he is one of the Street Fighter gods.

FChamp is gonna win evo again.

I want someone to destroy Champ in pools. The only character I know that can shut Magneto up is Morrigan with Doom missiles but that's pretty much it since he has Doom on his side too on both of his teams ;_;

Yo I love how there is something every weekend. Where is Red Bull being streamed?

I have no idea.
Edit: Actually on facebook, they said the stream will be on the redbullkumite website.

The exhibition at FR was supposed to be kappa vs madcatz vs EG. Noooooooo.

Same, but who can do that when he's on point now (besides the usual god crew who will be seeded elsewhere anyway)

the better zero players but it's unlikely they'd be put into pools either

zero v mags is still a finesse-required matchup and pools can be super dangerous for that kinda stuff

The only people I've seen defeat Champ have been Wong, Chris, Cloud (?), Apology (?) and that's it. I think Kosmos might have a good shot, plus Terry Bogard. New people coming out and showing their strength will definitely shake EVO up if they end up getting top 64.

Wait when is Red Bull Kumite? That's not this weekend is it?

This is why I plug this.

These events still sucking at providing the particulars, and we're just a few days away.

I wouldn't be surprised. He looked dominant in his matches, and that Marvel top 8 really got me back into the game. It will be interesting to see if others step their game up come EVO.

cloud and vineeth have beaten champ, though champ's morrigan counterpick has made that much rougher for him as i haven't seen him win in tourney once again champ since that was pulled

i'd imagine xrd is probably taking his time away from marvel too

personally i don't believe kosmos stands a chance in hell while terry starting dante on his default team or playing his dante team would do well vs. champ as his current team form is extremely questionable vs. champ's team and general playstyle

i thought it was very strange that he didn't start dante like he normally does when he feels he's run into bad matchups with his morrigan point team

Never knew Terry would start Dante. Also, a friend of mine is a really good friend of Vineeth and apparently he's playing SF more often now, with a mix of Xrd. I think your right with kosmos, Champ has experience against the best Morrigan player period. The only person I know who can seriously shut Champ up is Yipes if he finally decides to unlock the hidden lotus for once like he did at the Capcom event.

I'm basing this partially on the fact that since at least 2012, the best Marvel players have been the ones with the best defense. Champ's blocking and evasion at FR was some next level shit.

My bad Enzo haha. And thanks for the info guys.

Also from Smug's latest tweets, this is how he did in money matches:
Beat Gamerbee and Mago both 5-2
Julio 5-0
Imstilldadaddy 5-3
Dakou and Xiao Hai 5-0
KitasenjuDJ 5-0

Lost to Tokido 4-5
Kazunoko 3-5
Bonchan 1-5

Yipes is on SF now though, isn't he?

He's on the SF grind but he's always played the game, just not as seriously. He's mainly a marvel player. If he can pop out that 20XX Dante he has with bold cancel teleport mag assist beam setup, he should make quick work out of a lot of people. sadly, dante has a horrible time against the bulkier characters.

But it would be less likely for him to unlock his mutant gene if he's focusing more on SF now

I told him that Smug will always look for the counter hit to close the distance as fast as possible and that he'd almost always do something when he got a knock down. The MP abuse from Itabashi was probably to avoid that and stop his forward momentum when possible. So kinda? MP is like impossible to CH for Dudley, lol

Like Ultradavid mentioned during that match, it's really hard for Dudley to outpoke Gief in the mid range. Outside of s fierce and maybe s mp, dude has T rex arms, i.e, no reach. How is the hawk vs Gief matchup? Looks like Hawk has better buttons in general. Smug's thawk is shitty, but he should seriously consider another char for this match. If Snake is beating Bonchan with E Ryu (still pissed about that, lol), then other character specialists looking to do well this year have no excuse!

Hawk has better buttons than Gief on the whole and can beat him on the ground. In particular st.mk, st.hp, and st.mk can really put a craw in Gief's approach when placed correctly. As I recall, some of the hurtboxes for those appear above the hitbox for green hand. I should check that out when I get home but I recall just outright stuffing those green hand approach.

Lord help Hawk if Gief manages to get the hard knockdown, though.

Eventhubs have an interview with Xiaohai up

MajinTenshinhan: Capcom have beefed up the Pro Tour and its prize money quite a bit this year. Do you think that you will be traveling to more events in 2015?

Qanba|Xiao Hai: I'll be going to CEO... NorCal Regionals... The spring Topanga event... And South East Asia Majors.

So you can add Xiaohai to the list of internationals attending NCR

Xiaohai, Momochi, Kazunoko, Bonchan, Pugera, Gamerbee, Poongko

The other interesting bit is that he confirmed the leak of there being another Topanga World League. I was thinking about when they could do the event so it doesn't interfere with any premiere event and maybe that's the invitational that Xian also hinted at in his blog.

Plans are all set for driving down to TSB for 2v2-day this Saturday. Montreal will see representation from pochp and Brice, and the trans-Ontario team will consist of Waterloo's RyanKen and myself.

10 years ago, I thought the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim would be what I'd first visit NYC to see. My priorities sure have changed.
Eh, I am fine with this.

Its that time again...

My favourite stage from the game that truly hooked me on the genre:
Do a barrel roll! said:
Vampire Savior had some great ideas too, but I preferred the colourfulness of the older games. The Disney and horror influences were balanced so well in Night Warriors and Vampire Hunter, which always got my imagination going. When the third game in the series drifted into more gritty, surreal territory, I found it didn't engender the same cognitive dissonance, and was more easily forgotten (until I got hooked on its gameplay). By that, I mean it became more plainly and overtly dark, whereas the old games were straight up pixie-manic on the surface, but dark underneath, which I found to be a more interesting puzzle to escape into.

EDIT: Another favourite from the same game:

Speaking of Smug, just before Itabashi and Smug played, I gave him the run down on his play style quirks and lol, I've never seen Itabashi swing mp that much ever, I think. He mentioned he kind of knew what to do but said thanks for the quick reminder.

That triple MP combo was fucking nuts. Smug is a nightmare for a lot of players, but Itabashi was salivating at the chance of fighting him it seems. You could not wipe that grin off his face. I also see that Smug lost to Bonchan 1-5 in a money match. I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that Bonchan somehow lost to Snake Eyez Evil Ryu lol.

But anyways, NCR and Hypespotting isn't too far away. I hope Daigo will announces his intention to attend one or the other soon. I was saying NCR all the way, but with Xiaohai also going, might as well just attend Hypespotting instead. No European has his number and I think he'll have the upper hand against his teammates should they run into each other.

It's cause Sagat sucks. He's only relevant as a counter pick.

Bonchan should seriously get a new character if he wants dat e-sports money.

Um, hello everyone.

I'm no regular here or anything, but does anyone here play more obscure fighting games, like the Touhou spinoffs or French Bread stuff or Arcana Heart? I admit I've been curious to give these games a try even if their community may have since moved on, just because I'm always looking for unique fun experiences. What can you guys tell me about these types of fighters, or if there are similar games with active scenes?
The only game I can really say I played to any huge extent are the various Melty Blood games. There's actually a small but active netplay scene for MBCC (the latest release) since there was a netplay hack that added rollbacks. Good luck finding a legit copy of the game, though. Woof. I've played a bit of UNIEL as well, and It's A Good Game (tm) but I hate playing that game online and I don't really have the time to grind that game offline.

Arcana Heart is one of those games that's really interesting but 90% of the people you show it to are immediately put off by its aesthetic, and the remaining 10% are weird... who am I kidding, we're all weird. It's a hard game to grok properly though, due to how different the movement is. There's also Aquapazza, which is actually around the speed and complexity for my old man hands, but the game also has some really silly stuff. The fact that the online was booty buttcheeks and it never got much play in the US didn't help, either.

As for the Touhou stuff, I played a lot of IaMP when it came out and my reaction to Scarlet Weather Rhaposdy was roughly that of a SSB Melee player's reaction to SSB Brawl. I thought the changes in the game were so awful I swore to never play it (which is a bit harsh, as Soku is almost certainly a better game than SSBB is).

As for random povert games... you really don't want to know how deep that rabbit hole goes, or you'll be drunk in a hotel room at 4 in the morning screaming at a TV over games of Suiko Enbu or Fighters' Masters. Oh, the things we did in our youth. D:

But yeah, if you're looking for scenes for anime games that aren't from ArcSys, you're going to be on the struggle bus unless you happen to live in a place like Cali (and even then, it's not like the community isn't huge). Then again, if we just wanted to play the games everyone else is playing we would all just play LoL anyway. -_-

all the madcatz sponsored players are going too right? didn't markman or somebody say they will be going to all the pro tour events?

MarkMan did say that, but NCR and Hypespotting are on the same weekend and both are Premier Events. Mago and Tokido have chosen to go to Hypespotting instead. No word yet on Daigo, but it would be the smarter choice to go to Hypespotting as well since NCR is more stacked with top internationals.
