It's a fun game, though finding a solid online match might be a bit tough.

Viper is a near top tier point, period. The excuse of "no one wins with her anymore" is a bad one, always has been just like when people quoted that reason for Zero. The only reason she isn't top 5 is because 3 of her worst match ups are top 3.
MODOK is a High tier character, around the same as Joe, Trish and Firebrand. He just has a few match ups that are really bad like Wolverine and Vergil but aside from that he is really good.
Haggar is not a top point and is very match up dependent. Upper mid, same as Hulk. I actually like Thor over them because of the characters who dominate but those 3 big bodies are around the same level.
No one plays point Strider. He's a harder to block version of Wesker with low damage and a good assist.

I can still do FRC's on it. But that might be more of how much Ive played the fucking game more than the netcode thingy. Seeing how I booted the game up for the first time a year ago in 2 years and did all of Ky's FRC's in one try from muscle memory

This. When I see some old games still being played at a high level by groups of players no matter how small I am not worried about the future of fighting games. Those who actually want to compete will compete and growth shouldn't be pursued at all costs. As a player, the way people play when a game is known is closer to what I want to learn and be able to deal with, that's why I find it more interesting than the early days where people barely know what does what.
I mean shit, not having Maxima's frame data available still bugs me.

I was thinking the other day that it would have been cool for Sony to respond to Microsoft's Killer Instinct by bringing back another old FG IP. I think a new Bloody Roar would have been a cool idea. I played Bloody Roar 2 and later 4, a bit back in the day and always have have fond memories of them. If it was re-imagined like K.I. was I think it could be made into a pretty great game. edit: I meant to add, that I think this would also be a great game to show of PS4s graphical power.
Series has a ton of potential and I think the transform mechanic alone could not only add a lot to a serious fighting game, but also looks cool, and if somewhat challenging to perform, could be really hype in tournament settings. I would also suggest just going with a 2D plane and 3D assets like SF4 and other recent fighting games do.
The game wouldn't need to have a gigantic cast (at least not at first) because every character is essentially 2 characters, their normal self + their transformed self. Different hit and hurt boxes, different lengths of attacks/pokes, different frame data, maybe even different input commands, ect. A starting cast of 12 characters could go a long way.
I could imagine a character that is terrible normally but becomes one of the best characters once she transforms. Knowing this the meta about the match up would change. Your opponent would know that you are eager to transform and would try to stop you, creating a natural, as opposed to forced, tension in the match up. Making her transformation difficult to do would add to this tension so long as the payoff was worth it.
another example could be the opposite, a character who is great normally, but whose transformation is near useless, actually making him a worse character. I didn't ask you scrub. Viper is not a top point. Her movement and buttons suck. No one who isn't trying to be a unique and special flower would waste their time with her. She lacks the two things that are most important in Marvel & she's a meter hog with crap for assists and dhcs.
Arguing against this is pointless. She's a bunch of gimmicks that has been figured our and she loses bad to high level match ups. Stop living in 2011 & wake up, it's 2014, Viper is buns, no one plays her except Marlin.
I was gonna bring this up, but it makes me sad. I actually think this is exactly what Sony tried to do with PASBR, getting Skill on board and everything else. It just didn't catch on. I hope they don't give up, but it's really best to do these things at the start of a console generation. Especially something like a fighting game where it takes time to get really good and understand it, the early generation droughts that always happen gives people time to really get to know launch titles.

I don't know if I like what happened with satellite. Old satellite had a better hitbox and you could place more than one. I don't think the quicker recovery makes up for those losses and isn't nearly as versatile now. It seems to have been regulated to purely a oki gimmick.

Yeah it's not really a good zoning tool anymore outside of EX, but the fact he gained damage overall is a pretty big thing for him. I havent messed with his new combos yet but his new extensions and stuff are pretty solid as well.
Yeah wasn't that bad at all.

Where are you looking for combos? Dustloop is a mess. Someone posted a good 3H starter combo that I've been doing (in a thread completely unrelated to combos in the Ky forum) but that's predicated on landing 3H, cold.
Also, if you have 3H setups lemme know.

Man, this is straight to the point. The current way the meta is going and will probably stay until everyone just goes straight for unblockables with firebrand. These are literally the only points that are worth having, spencer and wesker will probably weed out in the coming years as more zoning tools are adapted into the meta (don't even mention haggar, he's got big body damage but its useless if he can't hit anything). However, characters with 2 out of the 3, 8 way dashes/flight/projectiles, are pretty damn good. Viper is a solid top 8, people just suck with her and haven't built a team like Marlin's that really makes her shine. Modok has his own unblockables and believe me, I have faced Moonz enough times to know Modok is solid as hell and top 15 easily, heck top 10 if people really crack down on his tech. Strider is arguable though, if Crazy Joe is rocking him, then I believe.
Q, give me your undying wisdom. Should I get +R or wait for Xrd? By the way, I never played a GG or BB game in my life seriously and I'm already loving Millia/Faust from GG and that giant wrestler guy from BB.
Well the only people begging for bloody roar are pretty much us. They need to make new IP's that are fighters and stop relying on franchises to sell if they really want to improve (even though the risk is ridiculously high).
Viper is a meter hog? Sounds like YOU are the one who needs to wake up from 2011. And her movement is decent.
Both KBeast and Unknown did really well at SCR playing Viper. KBeast especially was doing really well with her all tournament.
Who the fuck cares about her DHCs and assists? She is a point character. She has the best DHC out hyper in the game in Emergency Combination which is all she needs along with her EX Seismo and EX TK which are godlike tools.
She only loses badly to Zero and Viper. Against Magneto she has option of Jam Session and Vajra to combat Magneto.
She has both gimmicks and exceptionally strong tools in both rushdown and zoning. On the ground it's extremely difficult to contest her. She has high damage combos, excellent answers for almost all rushdown (thanks to FA hyper armor and EX Seismo) and she has a hard unblockable with Jam Session. And this is on top of her already insane high/low mix ups. Oh and she can combo off of all throws ground and air from any height which not many characters can do in this game.
Any top player worth a damn rates Viper in the top 10. You can ask FChamp, Justin, Viscant, PRRog... whoever. They all rate Viper highly and for good reason. Plenty of players still use her outside MarlinePie especially in Norcal (like Drew Grimey, Ponce the guy who eliminated Nemo from EVO).

I think FChamp may have figured out an escape (at least with Doom). He push blocks some of the final few hits of Tenderizer so that the final hit or so whiffs because he is in push block and then he has just enough space to throw out a normal to hit Firebrand out of his unblockable. Doom's j.M is fairly beefy so it may not work with every character.
Certainly worth investigating now. He definitely tried the air dash escapes and they were inconsistent. Either way this is something genuinely new.

After seeing it, it is definitely possible to escape out of the unblockable. It seems he literally waits for the 1-3 frames of coming in and mashes advance guard so his entire hurt box isn't being attacked by tenderizer. With that, some of the hits will actually whiff and he'll escape earlier than he is supposed to.

Viper's gimmicks work just as well as Firebrand's at a high level. They're esstentially the same idea. Viper just gets to blow more meter.

My god, what the hell your talking about? C. Viper best spot is Point, she sucks as a assist character and has terrible DHC besides damage, no safe DHC, and she sucks as a anchor, because she is hard getting a hit by herself. She works best with assist backing her up, because it helps with her bad things about her.
Bad normals, and hard matches against flyers/characters that stay in the air.
The best team for her is the theory fighter team of C. Viper/Dante/Strider, because it sets up what her best thing are. Makes it so you can't play with her unblockable + lockdown high/low game with jam session for her, and vajra and jam session to help her with the flyers/upbackers she had trouble with!
Also DabBomb is one of the Main NeoGAF Mahvel Theorist here, he knows TONS of shit about the game, he also helped out doing that UMVC3 patch wishlist we did a while back, so he is not just "some scrub", he knows alot more about the game then you most likely.
